forgot to mention my junkyard hatch has 199k (soon to be 200k will get a pic) as far as i know she's all original, i put 10w40 in it when i changed the oil.. its got a lower end knock when ya first start it after sitting all night.. but that stops in less than 5 seconds and she purrs like a kitten.. oil was black in 15 min again after changing it.. so that leads me to believe it was hardly ever changed before i got it.. gotta change it again soon.. oil pressure while cold is about 75psi. even at idle... as she warms up it'll drop to below 25 at idle and drivin down the road at 2500 rpm's its right at 50psi.. according to my FSM thats within spec for oil pressure on the EA81 engines.. i'm not worried about the initial startup knock, cause my 78' ford does the same thing and its got a high performance everything 429 big block.. that has about 20k on the motor.. and (Junky) runs too good to worry about it..

use silicone hoses for turbo coolant lines is a must..
-
well i don't know much about the cooling properties of water/antifreeze.. but i can say when i buy antifreeze for my cars, i always use the prestone 50/50 mix stuff.. its always served my purposes well.. and its cheaper and ya don't have to figure out the mix yourself..

yup thats the body kit i was refering to.. the one on that red rx in your picture.. front, sides, and rear.. they had those on the US 3door RX model, but i've never seen one on a 4door RX.. and the 3doors are super hard to find, and i'd prolly have to buy the hole car just for the body kit (which i don't want to do, i have enough cars) the later year 88 and 89 4door rx's are even harder to find.. wonder what it'd cost to ship them here.. since i'm on the east coast it might not be as bad as i think... the console shouldn't be too much to ship, fairly small.. as far as steering wheel goes, i don't think i'd need a certificate like the one you have.. they are pretty relaxed when it comes to steering wheels here.. pretty much as long as it functions and doesn't fall off its ok, haha... for wheels here in the US we have a very limited selestion of wheels for the 4x140 lug pattern.. for anything bigger than a 13" we have to use Puegot wheels.. or if we take the 5 lug setup off of a XT6 that will swap on to our older subaru's and then we can get any 5 lug wheel to fit.. I'd tend to say the H-alloy style wheels we have here are the most common alloy's on our era of subaru's.. i have 9 of the damn things myself.. i've always wondered why european styling was always sportier looking than the stuff here in the US.. again i'll get that picture when i get off work tonight.. -
89' ea81 GL hatch 199k nickname (Junky) came form a junkyard 85' RX sedan, 180 something on chassis, getting a 140k engine soon. 84' lifted GL hatch 222k engine is unknown.. retied 86' turbo wagon had 290k original. left for the scrapper last week.. i kept the engine and lots of parts tho

well first off, welcome to the USMB.. i can't help with the trip computer.. i just sold mine to a fellow USMB member not too long ago.. i think this is the pic of the body kit subarutex was referring to as for the center console that you have a pic of and need.. i might be able to help you there... i have a tall center console with the door that opens, still lin the plastic.. its brown in color.. i'll take a picture of it when i get home tonight and post it to see if its what you want.. never shippied anything to germany before but i'm sure it can be done.. as for that body kit, i'd love to have one of them for my RX sedan.. heres a pic of mine.. i have the rear spoiler on the trunklid. but the other pieces, like the rear bumper plastic, the side plastic down below the door, etc.. thats the stuff i'm sure alot of us here would love to have, me included.. they never offered those pieces here in the US.. the wheels on yours are quite nice as well.. that steering wheel would be awsome as well.. too bad i can't find that stuff here in the US.. -
well, to me it sounds like you have a headgasket about to blow completely.. onyl real fix is replace both gaskets, and possibly have the heads resurfaced.. i'd do this before it overheats real bad and cracks something.. i have used waterglass before in lots of cars.. it works great until you put antifreeze in it.. antifreeze eats it away.. so its nota real fix to anything.. just prolongs the inevitable during the summer.. i remember waterglassing a little chevette.. the guy drove that car around for 4 years without anymore problems before it finally went.. but this was in a warm climate and never had to worry about freezing in the winter..

just for others info... i got a quote on an ea82T from CCR for my RX... $1795/exchange+shipping i know i can get parts and do it myself for alot less than that.. needless to say i didn't go that route.. you'll prolly have to check around various places nd get bearings here, rings there, etc..

White smoke when cold EA-82
Meeky Moose replied to mikejk's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
hmm when was the last time ya replaced the exhaust pipes? could be just worn (thin pipes) thin metal will draw more condensation than a nice thick piece.. but yea if its not overheating and not loosing coolant.. i wouldn't worry about it.. -

White smoke when cold EA-82
Meeky Moose replied to mikejk's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
well all cars will appear to have white smoke billowing out of the tailpipe for 10-15 min or so when they are cold.. especially in the winter.. its only condensation inside the pipe from it heating up in this nasty cold weather.. i would say if its not using any coolant, and not overheating.. drive her and not worry about it.. all of my soobs blow white (steam) out the tailpipe in the winter when the temp is way down there... its normal... -
personally i've always had good lucj with wal-mart batteries.. usually last me 4 or 5 years... and they're cheap. hehe

Best year for EA82T chassis?
Meeky Moose replied to carfreak85's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
ohh.. and i think i heard somewhere here on the board that the RX sedans were the most equal wieght ratios out of all the older soobs as well.. would be better for rallying imo.. i know i love my rx sedan thanks for that clarification skip.. as always, you da man! -
had my hatch freeze up awhile back.. due to my dumb rump roast forgetting to put antifreeze in it after draining it several times to fix cooling issues.. it froze solid.. radiator and all.. had to let it run in 20 min intervals cause it was trying to overheat doe to the rock solid ice in it.. after about 4 intervals it finally thawed out.. heater core was last to thaw tho.. on another note is was 16 degrees when i left for work. the little junkyard hatch heated up to normal and had plenty of heat the hole way.. damn was it cold outside..
