exhaust looks good... i'm gettin a flowmaster put on the hatch today.. hehe should rumble a little.. will take pics when its done.. alot of things can happen when ya drive down the road.. but anything you can do to prevent a death, wreck, disaster, whatever is in everyones best interest.. ( IE bailing wire=free, exhaust hanger=a couple bucks) spend the couple bucks, really..

well i'm debating what to do with my 89' ea81 hatch.. its in real nice shape.. its getting a flowmaster put on it today.. wagon wheels are getting sand blasted and painted black.. now i've got a lifted hatch, but i've never seen a lowered hatch.. it defeats the purpose of 4wd.. but this summer it might get an ea82T transplant as well.. just thinkin lowered, ea82T, and a nice soundin exhaust might be pretty wicked.. might even scare a few "import tuners" around here, lol.. chime in, whats your opinion.. i'm thinkin drop it 2+ inches in the front and 3+ in the back.. if i get the lowest profile 13" tire i can find they should tuck in real nice..

where ya live at? since your in virginia, i might be able to drop by sometime and listen to it for ya.. i can tell between rod knock and lifter tick very easily.. i remember you droppin by my place once for that ac condenser, so ya can't be too far away..

hey dennis.. between Jules and I we have like 3 ea82T engines.. if you want a good shortblock i'm sure we can hook ya up.. i got the 290k wagon engine.. still runs good.. heads were keepin.. bottom end is perfectly sound.. we have the newly aquired RX engine.. turbo coolant line blew.. has gen1 heads.. were going to start it before we pull it to see whats up with it.. then theres the engine in my RX that will be coming out.. blown HG bottom end is fine.. i only drove it maybe a few thousand from the time i bought it from you.. between the 2 of mine you can take your pick.. if you want it ya gotta come get it.. but you can have 1.. i dunno what jules has in store for the newly aquired rx engine.. i don't think he wants it either.. but thats up to him really..

well, your grinding sound that changes tone/goes away while turning, is most deffinitely a wheel bearing.. had to replace one on my hatch that was doin the same thing..

ok if thats not enough for ya.. if i do all highway driving in this thing, i can go just about 500 miles on a full tank.. now back and forth to work i drive about 70-80 miles a day.. multiply that by 5 days.. and you see how far i got on a tank there.. by a tank i mean from full to the rim where its pouring out the spout to below the red and i put in right about 12 gallons.. so i stand by my mileage hmm this might be better than a justy, haha

well, i'll chime in with the rest of ya.. get the little tool from the parts store.. the 1" cube with different pins on its corners.. this is the tool needed to turn the pistons back in.. and they are $4-$5.. every ea81/ea82 subaru i have ever worked on had to have the pistons turned in.. they would not go in with a c-clap.. (i broke a caliper once by forcing it with a c-clamp) sometimes they are stiff to turn but they will go in by turning.. after i figured that out (thanks to the help from this board) brake jobs are easy now.. i've gotten it down to an hour for all 4 corners..

thats the problem here in teh us.. they are too leanient with the tickets, etc.. i say give that dumb bastard a ticket if they insist on driving 10 mph less than the speed limit in the left lane.. fry that other guys balls when he runs a redlight.. that would make people over here wake up a drive.. ohh yeah next law i would enforce if it were a law and i was the head of a police force somewhere.. someone driving carelessley while talkin on a cellphone, putting on makeup, etc. automatically gets a $500 fine.. that might make them think twice.. i think the reason why there are less accidents and such in europe is people are too busy driving 80+ mph and don't have time to talk on the cell phone, put on makeup, read a book, whatever.. and the fines for infractions are hefty..

well to counteract your bs flag.. an ea81 hatch gas tank is what 12 gallons? so that would make 1/4 tank 3 gallons right? thankyou now subarubrat can vouch for the distance between my house and another town.. 72 miles one way.. my 89' ea81 hatch with 199, 330 miles went there and back on 1/4 tank of gas.. so if you do the math thats 144 miles divided by 3 gallons.. and you get what? 48 mpg... now i thought that was insane at first, but the more i drive the car the more i believe it.. i know the guage is right cause when it hits E it sputters and dies cause its empty.. so even if you wanted to fudge the number by a gallon (to make up for a quirky gauge) it would still have gotten 36 mpg.. say its BS whatever, but i do know how well my car runs.. next BS story please..

since mines rotted off right at the muffler intake side, i can cut it off there with a hacksaw, get a glasspack and weld it on there and maybe even have room for a nice chrome tip for a tailpipe, that would be fine with me.. Mark: what ya doin this weekend? i'm thinkin pepboys in harrisonburg will have the stuff i need.. (glasspack and tailpipe) i also gotta get that windshield in there if i get off my duff and find a seal. lol Harpua: i'll keep ya posted, if Mark and I can't figure something out i'll be sending email your way.. just had the centerpipe/cat replaced.. its just the muffler thats annoying now... anyone know if i can gut the cat in the y-pipe? without cutting it all up?

heh good eye trogdor.. i didn't notice the 3rd brake light and the mirrors.. they are different than mine.. its got teh same interior as mine though.. not checkered.. just a biege cloth in teh center and greyish leather in the sides.. i didn't look at the seatbelts.. mines got checkered pattern seatbelts but yeah i gotta say its an 86' now that ya pointed out the differences..

need a glasspack and tailpipe to replace my oem muffler on my ea81 hatch.. none of the shops here will do it, and i don't want to have to drive 3 hours to another state to get it done.. anyone care to take on the job?

stealing the thread here... can anyone make me a pipe to replace the muffler.. shops around here won't do it.. all i really want is to replace the oem muffler with a glasspack.. this is on an ea81 hatch btw.. if anyone can do this and ship it to me that'd be great.. let me know..

well i called them... acording to the lady i talked to, she said the owner told her its not for sale.. but heres the pics.. is a shame to see it rotting away.. i bet with a little persuation ( $$) it can be had.. flash a bill in front of him and i'd bet he takes it.

ahh don't feel bad my lifted hatch get like 12 or 14, lol i don't drive it much.. 120-130 or so miles and that puppy is empty..
