3at to 5-speed swap, what do i need?
Meeky Moose replied to Meeky Moose's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
well, thanks for the offer Trogdor.. but this one was free.. lol everything.. and since its the wifes car, i figure the single range PB 4wd will be easier for her to figure out.. on the other hand, since you have the hookups i could use a brown PB shifter knob, and centerconsole piece with the shift boot in brown.. i'm short a flywheel and clutch on this car, but i have tons of ea82T setups layin around so will end up usin one of them.. i think its a bit beefier anyways.. -
lol this thing sounds better in person, too much static in it

well i have a complete (minus engine) 90+ loyale PB 4wd 5-speed wagon sittin in my driveway now.. should have everything i need for my 88 gl 3at pb 4wd wagon that is going to be converted i'd like folks to chime in on what i need so i can make a list of what to take off the loyale.. cause once its gone, its gone.. it'll prolly go to another usmb member for reviving though

Looks like I missed out on an RX

i jsut snagged a loyale wagon.. was a late nighter.. already had been flagged by the county mounty for towing.. but i got ahole of the owner, got title, and key, towed it off before they could, free of course.. unless you count the $12 in gas it took to get it home..sorry culpeper county mounties.. lol check with the impound lot and see when they auction stuff off.. then be there or be square.. my guess is noone will want it cause the majority of folks don't know what they are.. so you might get it for the impound and towing fee.. -
hehe too bad ya weren't in a lifted hatch or subarubrats, brat.. with subaru plastered on the side.. they might not have laughed, lol... i saw an 05 wagon up here in dc the other day, passed the guy on the freeway doin 85 in my little hatch, haha.. some little jap guy too.. i stared as i drove by, he kinda gave me a funny look... ahh well.. very sharp lookin cars..

hehe sounds good, but me thinks my flowmaster has more of a rumble gotta record it and post... -
don't worry the car is a 90+ loyale.. says loyale on the side trim behind the rear tires.. i didn't bother lookin at the year.. loyale is a loyale, and it has what i need.. so you window is the same gets better everyday huh? all we gotta do is get it into your driveway, lol.. and you'll have a soob for quite awhile.. i estimate if you left the current rust alone, you'd get a good 5-10 years outa the body.. if you wounded it you'd get 10 no prob..

Meeky Moose replied to Jrtbighurt's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i could be wrong but i always thought the fireing order was 1-3-4-2... 1 being closest to the firewall.. i could be wrong as i am not standing in front of my car.. and its been awhile since i ever payed attention.. i always pull one at a time to give mine a tune up so they don't get mixed up.. EDIT: i've ben corrected, its 1-3-2-4... good ole skip -

any windshield removal tips?
Meeky Moose replied to elcaminokurt's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
the ea82 cars are glued in, the ea81 cars are just a gasket.. going to change my ea81 hatch windshield this weekend.. already got the gasket off ebay for like $35 i also had the windshield replaced in my RX (ea82) the guy from teh glass shop broke that all to hell and back.. it was quite funny.. but personally i wouldn't do one myself on an ea82 car.. the glue makes it a PITA.. ohh and btw the glass shop wanted $170 to put a windshield in my ea81 hatchback and that was with me supplying the windshield.. thats why i'm doing it myself.. the RX cost $198 and they supplied the windshield.. -

Car quit last night, what's the problem??
Meeky Moose replied to JParuBob's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
could have chewed the teeth off the drivers side t-belt.. which would throw it outa time, still let it sorta try to start, but not ever fully start.. pull the t-belt cover and check it out.. pretty easy to do.. -
3at to 5-speed question..
Meeky Moose replied to Meeky Moose's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
well me thinks i just scored a FREE pushbutton 4wd 5-speed wagon.. has everything i need to convert mine.. gotta get it before they tow it. car has no engine so pullin the trans is easier.. guess i'll have to do a little writeup on how its done, take pics, etc.. might be good for the usmb repair manual.. trick is gettin rid of the chassis when i'm done with it, lol.. -
*..More Horsepower?..*
Meeky Moose replied to bakerman1's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i know a weber makes a huge difference over the stock hicrappy.. prolyl a good 10-15 hp as an example.. my llifted hatch with those big 27's will flat out walk away from my stock 89' ea81 hatch.. i'm talkin a good 100 yards ahead of the stock hatch on an on ramp.. and thats starting out at the same time. lol so you wanna figure how much power those big tires chew up, and its still faster.. its gotta be a decent amount of power gain.. really.. -
gettin annoyed!! help??
Meeky Moose replied to subawoohoo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
goin out on a limb here.. check the catylitic converter.. easy to do.. unbolt the center pipe from the downpipe, tie it up out of the way and start it.. its going to be loud as hell, but if it idles, and seems to run better you got a plugged cat.. me thinks that by you fixing the exhaust leak it created less flow of the exhaust due to the plugged cat.. causing it to not rev, putter, and not idle.. just my .02.. 2 bolts and 10 minutes and its pertty easy to weed this problem out..
