didn't they come with a coolant overflow tank? the one i just picked up didn't have one, and it just pumps the antifreeze out on the ground in very small amounts.. and in 2 weeks time its about half empty.. it only does it on short drives (5 miles or so) now i put my ea82 coolant overflow tank in there where the jack goes (since theres no other place for it) but i'm still stumped somewhat.. and i'd like to put my jack back in its spot..

yeah after i got Bill Putney's wagon he disapeared and i had to let it go to the scrapper too after 16k miles tho lol.. there were some interesting things in there when i pulled the motor outa it to say the least, hehe...

hmm that seems like alot... dunno which company my dad used but he had his 98' jeep wrangler shipped from maui hawaii to manassas virgina for like $1200.. i'd do some more checkin i were you..

it sounds even better when the exhaust falls off after the y-pipe. lol.. pulled into work with "Junky" and a guy walkin around said, "what the hell, you tryin to go out for the indy 500 or somethin?" lol its gettin fixed tonight...

anytime.. my old wagon had leaky fuel injectors.. they leaked in the winter, but in the summer they quit.. never replaced them, just dealt with a little gas smell ocasionally..

here in VA they classify the current outback as a car. and the current forester as an SUV.. personally i say classify it what ya want but if you look at any other brand of light truck/suv the soob still gets the same or better mileage.. on another note the lift they're doing to it would be awsome.. they are a bit lacking in ground clearance now.. i love my lifted soob.. sure its not new, but it'll go over anything.. ohh and it only gets about 14 mpg with a tailwind.. i guess you could rate that down there with the big boys toys huh...

hey mark that sounds good to me.. the junkyard by my house has one, but its still in the car and i don't know what condition its in.. they would pull it out tho.. but i'd rather buy from a friend than some crusty junkyard, lol.. this saturday i'm going to skips place.. but i'll be here on sunday if your going to be in harrisonburg this weekend.. i can come over there no prob.. you'll get to meet "Junky" for the first time.. if its next weekend i'll be around for sure either day.. i'm not worried about breakin my old one cause its already broken.. just gotta get a seal.. details, details.

well, i just have to say.. when the rx engine comes out and i start to work on it.. it be gettin some cams!! then when its all beefed up.. and i get a bigger turbo, etc.. it'll all go in the RX.. and the stock sleeper will be comin out for a spare.. keep in mind this may all take a long long time in a place far far away.. oopps got carried away..

ack, just called a place to see what it cost.. $184 + tax.. so basically the same as my RX.. guess i need to find a seal and a good windshield and do it myself..

may be its just me but i swapped my 4wd disty out of the RX and put in a 2wd disty and noticed a difference in acceleration... maybe my 4wd disty had issues too that are hidden and not noticable as well.. who knows..

well i knew ole "Junky" had an exhaust leak.. i thought it was very minor cause it didn't make any loud noises just a whizzing sound.. not loud at all either.. well i got to drivin into town saturday, and i heard a clunk, and the rumble.. it suddenly sounded like my RX with straight pipes.. so i get down to a place where i can pull off, i crawl under it and see that the center pipe fell off.. guess the leak was a bit more serious than i thought.. it broke off right behind the flange where it bolts to the y-pipe.. so i drive into town, tryin not to stirr up the cops.. i get to the muffler shop and get a new one ripped in me for $254 and some change.. but they had to order the pipe.. so i gotta take it in wednesday.. anyways on my way home, i stirred up ole smokey.. he comes up says, you got a loud muffler don't ya son? i say no, infact there is no muffler "jokingly" and hand him the paper from the shop that has non-refundable deposit stamped on it, and a date of when its going to get fixed.. he looks at it and tell me, well just try not to make too much noise in town.. i nodded and drove off.. so anyways, little "Junky" is going to get a new exhaust put on it wednesday.. i tried to get the guy to make me a pipe with a universal cat and straight pipe out the back, but he said that was against virginia state law.. so he's just replacing the center pipe/cat with a OE one.. i'll do the straight pipe and no muffler out the back myself..

is the windshield in my 89' ea81 hatch glued in or does it just take one of them "popin" seals? is it a pain in the arse to change? or should i just call someplace and get a new one ripped in me for $200??

still isn't it easier to buy the 50/50 mix prestone?? rather than filling, draining, mixing, draining, refilling, etc.. and ya don't have to pay more for the plain prestone then buy water.. the 50/50 premix is cheaper than the straight stuff.. just my .02 not that its amounts to much...

alright, maybe i outa get a set of cams before i put the engine in my RX.. would be the easiest time to do it anyways. hehe.. since its going to have a short shifter, lightened flywheel, and a skip special downpipe.. what did your cams cost ya WJM?

ya might start with the air lines at the compressor.. don't remember where they are at tho.. i feel you pain as well with bum deals.. but yours is better off than mine was.. i had to do an engine swap on what was supposedly a new shortblock.. but it had a consealed rod knock.. at any rate, it coulda been worse.. if its temperature related, ya might find a warm garage somewhere and park it for a few hours then see if it'll air up.. worth a shot anyways..

around my parts the NGK regular plaugs and v-power plugs are the same price $1.46 each.. thats pretty cheap in my book.. good luck with your Bosch endevors.. to each thier own i say

for serious 4x4ing or going slow 4lo is best.. for spinning and doin doughnuts in a parking lot somewhere 4hi is best.. i once drove a lifted 4x D/R hatch in 4low 60 mph for 300 miles with no ill effects.. on dry pavement no less.. (didn't know it was in 4low)

i went and got a piece of fuel line from the parts store on my RX.. worked great.. still on the car as a matter of fact..

i would say instead of messing with the stock carb, get a 32/36 weber and slap on there, you'll notice a difference in power as well.. i'm sure someone here on the board has a used one floating around..

heres a pic of my stereo mounting.. its about 1/8" too shallow for rca cables to fit in there properly tho.. i'm bettin your hatch looks like this as well

glad its what your lookin for.. i'll send ya an email on details shortly. wheels would be very cool for us over here, but i bet shipping them would be alot.. although shipping one a month maybe wouldn't bee so bad. it would spread out the cost for me anyways.. for now i'll have to wait on wheels though since $$ is very slim now.. with the holidays and all.. as far as air suspension, my RX does not have it.. it is the plain coil over strut.. but has lots of clearance for a 14" wheel and tire.. i don't think it'd rub at all..

aha, another 89' ea81 hatch.. just like mine welcome to the board.. as far as i know about body kits, you pretty much won't find one for an ea81 hatchback.. don't know much about the fuel injection either.. i do have a pioneer flip face cd player, 200 watt amp, and 2 10's in the cargo area.. BOOM it goes.. gotta put my smaller subs cause the 10's are too much boom.. i'll snap a pic of my stereo console so you can see where i mounted mine.. will post it back here shortly

forgot to mention my junkyard hatch has 199k (soon to be 200k will get a pic) as far as i know she's all original, i put 10w40 in it when i changed the oil.. its got a lower end knock when ya first start it after sitting all night.. but that stops in less than 5 seconds and she purrs like a kitten.. oil was black in 15 min again after changing it.. so that leads me to believe it was hardly ever changed before i got it.. gotta change it again soon.. oil pressure while cold is about 75psi. even at idle... as she warms up it'll drop to below 25 at idle and drivin down the road at 2500 rpm's its right at 50psi.. according to my FSM thats within spec for oil pressure on the EA81 engines.. i'm not worried about the initial startup knock, cause my 78' ford does the same thing and its got a high performance everything 429 big block.. that has about 20k on the motor.. and (Junky) runs too good to worry about it..
