  1. the other issue.. why i need to replace all the locks, and ignition as well.. the keys i usd to have never worked the door locks (wrong key or the lock was fudged) and the ignition switch only worked after a minute or so of screwing with it.. so in other words it wouldn't crank unless you jiggled the key around.. so to me its really not worth gettin new keys made for stuff that was prolly junk anyways.. i could picture skip locking the doors and then trying to open them with a (new) key.. so anyways.. still need locks and ingnition switch. and the keys for it all...
  2. anyone have an ignition switch, 2 door locks, and a rear hatch lock for an 84' GL hatch? gotta have keys too.. rear hatch lock is not real important since you can pop it from the inside.. this is for the lifted hatch thats going to skip in a couple months..
  3. my 85 rx sedan is manual steering.. also an ea82T.. its not hard at all to steer.. now if you were in parking lots for a good 4 hours stright parking in every spot it would get tireing.. but the trip to the store or shopping is not bad.. my wife drives it just fine.. i have an ea82 PS pump sittin here if ya need one... don't know if it'll interchange with the ea81 pumps or not... i had 2 of them sold 1 already.. so i'll give ya the same deal i gave the other board member $25 shipped to your door.. ohh my little ea81 hatch is non PS and it drives like its got PS.. i prefer it over having the PS personally..
  4. nope haven't heard a peep.. was hopin he'd come back and not abandon us..
  5. nice score.. justlike the clean little hatch i picked up for almost nothin froma junkyard and drove it home.. lol
  6. accels universal coil (forget the part#) is a direct replacement for ours.. it hooks up the same way the old one does..
  7. personally this is how i did mine in my hatch.. works fine if you don't hook up rca cables.. the rca cables push it out about 1/4" because theres not enough depth.. without them there is plenty of depth..
  8. this little hatch does the same thing, but only when i turn everything on.. have to have the high beams, heater on high, stereo on, front and rear wipers on high, step on the brake.. then turn the blinker on and the volt gauge bobs up and down but right at 12v when it does.. never lower than 11v.. but with everything off like normal day driving, it stays around the 13-14v area.. my idle is about 850-900.. gotta tune the hitachi some and clean it, its startin to stick at 13-1500 now
  9. so you got the wiggles for a turbo hatch too i see... with all these turbo engines layin around mine and scrapdaddytatums place (5) i've had the wiggles to slap a ea82T in my little hatch.. lol i'd have access to a wireing harness off an 87 rx, the ecu, everything really.. heck i even think we got a d/r 5-speed somewhere here in this pile of stuff, lol.. might be a summer project fer me.. the 69 horses under the hood are just not enough... if ya weren't that far away i'd offer ya one of my ea81 heads.. i have 4 of them.. but i'm bettin someone on the left coast has one for ya as well..
  10. nope just gotta cut the front a tad bit.. rears clear fine.. look at my toy.. 84' gl hatch, 4/3 pk lift and 27's..
  11. sounds like your gettin pretty good mileage.. my old 86' turbo wagon (r.i.p) had 290k original miles and was gettin 34mpg on trips.. ngk plugs, accel coil, and some good plug wires are a must for these engines..
  12. ahh yeha, got that one covered.. its only sat for about a month.. started her up and moved it yesterday.. as soon as it comes out i'm tearin her down and tossing that gen1 head on the drivers side.. i got 2 ea82T's sittin here for parts.. the 3rd will go in my rx.. so plan is to take the 2 of them and rebuild a "hopped up" ea82T for the RX.. then keep stock engine #3 for a spare.. i figure cams, port and polish, balanced bottom end, forged pistons, and maybe a few other things.. i know what ya mean by rust.. got a block for a friend for his jeep (4.0) it sat so long he had to have it bored .30 over to get it all out.. head was unusable.. amazingly though the cam was perfect.. looked new..
  13. i found a place for it over on the passenger side, but thats a long stretch of hose to go that far, lol.. it could also sit behind the ac pump.. but it would rub there and i fear it would spring a leak sometime.. you'll get to see little Junky when i get that windshield from ya Mark.. p.s. my back seat tops are perfect except for a 1/2" tear in one..
  14. well its not the turbo.. i finally pulled the dipstick for the first time since i parked it.. looks like milk and is prolly 3 quarts overfull... guess it was a headgasket.. ahh well it'll have another engine in it soon
  15. na haven't done that yet.. never used any coolant and nothin funny in the overflow either.. lemme go out and check that..
  16. 2500 rpm's should be about 50 give or take a few.. idle should be 10-20... saw those #'s on every soob i have ever had.. ea81's, ea82's.. one with 290k original on it
  17. bah... i dunno that much about these things so i'm not sayin anything either way.. but my 69hp ea81 hatch will smoke all 4 in 4low on dry pavement all the way through first gear.. lol.. i only know this cause i scared a riceboy in an eclipse last night while heading to the exhaust shop..
  18. hehe alright.. thanks for the correction.. well now i know its worth the $200 they want for it..
  19. alright heres the skinny on it.. was drivin along, car started missing a little.. no overheating, nothing.. other than the miss it was normal.. i let it sit for a few hours, and started it and now its blowin water out the tailpipe.... i thought originally a headgasket took a dookie.. now thinking about it, is it possible the turbo is sucking the water and blowin it out the pipe? maybe the turbo took a dookie instead? i'm not real keen on turbo's so i don't fully understand if they could do that or not..
  20. save it for sure. from that pic it looks in nice shape.. i've had one soob go to the scrapper due to the rust.. if that one is rust free, its worth fixing the blown HG's..
  21. as i understand it the fulltime 4wd xt6's had the 3.90 LSD... found one in a local scrapper (2 miles from my house) they wanted $200 for it.. low mileage as well.. the XT6 was wrecked.. but i can't tell anyone where this yard is at cause that rear diff is goin in Junky (89' hatch)
  22. "Junky" makes some funny noises and is hard to get into and out of 4wd high on pavement.. i put my wagon tires on it when i got it.. they are pretty much the same.. size, etc.. but the rears are worn about half ways and the fronts are almost new.. only thing i can figure is that little 1/4" of tread size difference is whats causing the noises and shifting issues.. it'll get some new shoes when i get the wagon wheels painted..
  23. well i do know if my buddy can put an 89 jeep cherokee in a ryder truck, you can get a subaru in there.. gettin it out is another story if ya can't find a loading dock, lol...
  24. ahh, well someone has replaced it before me with a standard 13psi cap.. maybe its got the wrong cap on it.. which would make sence if they bought it for an 89 subaru, lol.. ya gotta buy parts for an 83 or 84 to get the right stuff for this car.. guess i need to go check out a cap for an 83 and see what the difference is.. well with the tire in the spare tire area theres no room for the jack.. the handle still fits under the tire tho..
