  1. yeah, my lifted hatch really raises up in the front and squats in teh back off the line.. i freaked a guy in a honda out the other day, pulled up, reved the hatch, he laughed, i grinned. light turned green (had it in 4low) i pulled the front end 3-4" off the ground and took him through 2nd gear wish i had a camera for the look on his face was priceless we need to get together sometime and go find some mub Subarubrat.. March is a looooong ways off :boohoo:
  2. doh.. the hose i had to replace was just the one that goes from the intake to the turbo.. had to remove the turbo heat shield, but that was it.. nothing right there in the terms of wires to bump... if i have the codes read, it should tell me whats wrong, if its not a connection problem shouldn't it?
  3. got a littel red light that says ECS. it lit up yesterday after i changed a coolant hose that sprung a leak.. car is sorta hard to start now also.. gotta acctually give it pedal to get it to start sometimes.. Edit: this is the 85' RX ea82T i also noticed the tach started jumpin when this light came on.. think the disty might be goin bad?
  4. hmm i dunno about MD, but here in virginia you can still get plates without the inspection.. but it is required to be inspected.. ya might hit DMV and try to get plates for it before the inspection.. if that doesn't work, take it in for inspection, let them fail it, but then you will know what needs done to make it pass.. they usually give ya a little sheet with whats wrong, etc..
  5. well, this saturday Scrapdaddy (Jules) and I were talkin about takin skips RX to him.. but if that doesn't work out then i don't have much to do saturday or sunday.. I don't let the wife drive the RX, its too nice and too rare, to get totaled.. she grew up out in the boonies.. she enjoyed our trip last time around, thought it was a good way to get outa the house and the city.. was thinkin if we come we'd leave early, spend the day and come home late..
  6. hehe, deffinitely quite a load there.. i bet people gave you the old :eh: :cornfuzz: looks on your way home.. so whats wrong with yur hatch?? if my other plans for this weekend don't work out, i'm bettin i could toss the wife and kid in the RX and head your way, if ya wanted another pair of hands.. if ya needed any parts that i might have, i could toss them in the trunk too.. i'd drive my hatch, but grrr, its got lots of wobbling in the front end.. maybe bad cv's that i just replaced
  7. hehe yeah, i'm still cleanin the mud out from that one, but i think that was Ej who did that :cornfuzz:
  8. hows this for a high mileage all original picture? 290k original very nice 86' turbo wagon all original 290k
  9. no clunks at all, nice and solid.. guess i need to swap the passenger side and see what it does...
  10. heh, maybe sometime we'll have to join ya in the hatch... still debating on gettin rid of it or not.. heh that mud hole was tiny compared to the one i've been through in my hatch.., we gotta find deeper mud hehe.. looks like ya had fun though, very nice place by the looks of the pics too speakin of circles, my hatch could deffinitely run circles around the "munster" hehe
  11. well, it almost sounds like a wheel bearing, but has a vibration i can feel in the floorboard and steering wheel.. only does it when the car is rolling, its not dependant on acceleration or deceleration at all.. the faster the car is rolling the louder and faster the vibration is.. the slower the car is rolling, the slower the sound and vibration are.. also when your rolling down the road, if you turn the wheel to the left the vibration and sound stop all together.. when your rollin straight or to the right its there and doesn't change.. i've already changed the drivers side CV axle (was shot anyways) and also the drivers side front hub with a known good bearing.. made no difference at all.. any ideas before it goes to the shop?
  12. if i had the $$ i'd be all over that.. i remember lookin at a house (to buy) in colorado.. went down in teh basement and there was a 70's VW van sittin there. so of course i snooped. it had 13,000 miles, factory plastic still on the floor boards and seats.. that was about as new as they get.. so i can believe the mileage...
  13. na, someone beat me to his hatch.. ahh well.. i figure my next project will be to search hi and low and maybe on the left coast for a 2dr RX.. might get rid of my hatch, haven't decided yet..
  14. sealed the deal with Dennis on the RX sedan today.. its now in my driveway.. Dennis is a great guy.. RX turned out great.. acctually better than i had expected.. very clean.. runs great, etc.. just wanted to say Thanks, and Cudos to Dennis..
  15. yeah, thats the kit i used.. well not from crutchfield but looks the same.. have to cut out the spot for the deck.. i did have to bend the support frame for the dash a little.. just take a small ball peen hammer and bend 1/8" and she fits nicely..
  16. hell, i wonder what it would cost to ship a complete dual carb ea81 to the states?? i could go for one of those..
  17. is a 2wd turbo clutch, pressureplate, and flywheel the same as a 4wd turbo? 2wd is an 86' 4wd is a 85' both turbo, both 5-speed..
  18. doh, the critical part to my question is not on that chart ohh well i'll find out when the time comes
  19. i'll get some pics of it this weekend.. if the RX i'm pickin up doesn't have the trip computer in that spot then i'll be partin that out as well.. going to be pullin the stereo out of it this weekend anyways, so will get pics of the "Hole" will post back here when i get'em..
  20. i found a kit for mine, trip computer stays in teh stock place, and a aftermarket deck fit nicely.. i can take a pics if ya want..
  21. thanks for the list of stuff to look at... i have a clunk in my hatch whenever i turn.. sounds just like a tire is hittin the fender.. but i "fixed" the fenders so i know thats not the case.. just can't seem to figure out what it is..
  22. well i must say that the older soobs are super reliable, but the rust is the kicker... 290k original on my turbo wagon and its gettin scrapped because of the rust.. my wife and I have had this discussion before.. basically what we have finally decided on is, i take car of the car situation, make sure she has something to drive, if it breaks, i fix it.. she takes care of the house work.. dishes, laundry, etc.. in my eyes this works great.. except when every car i give her she totals.. but thats besides the fact.. I'm thinkin your Fiance is just "too good" to be seen in an old Subaru.. most women would rather look good in a newer car, than get where they wanna go in an older car.. thank god my wife really doesn't care what it is as long as it gets her from point A to B.. i'd say if she's gotta have a newer 90's subaru pick her up a legacy or impreza.. they're not too horribly expensive... and like caleb says, you can have a littel leverage for gettin new parts and stuff, cause your soob only cost $500 instead of $5000... or just get her an SVX, they're 90's haha
  23. hehe yeah, i don't think my digicam can remotely make them that small.. my eyes hurt now from squinting at those
  24. heh my lifted hatch will do about 83 on the flat..
