looks like i have a chance to buy my old 78 back. i`m sure most of you have seen it around (tan, 3rd eye, mags, spoiler) anyway, i sold it to him a while back for $1300, and considered myself lucky. now i`m wondering what to offer back without looking like a fool. maybe $800? sounds like its pretty much sat since, and now needs a battery, and who knows what else. anyway, just kind of exited. also, if i can`t afford this, anybody here and in the tri-state area interested?

$200 tops for the pair, and i`ve seen them as low as $75 or free for the pair. all depends on who your market is.

starter from ea81 to a ea82?
75subie replied to floortom's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
why yes, yes it will -
while doing your swap, it'll probly be worth upgrading your turbo/exhaust, along with new head gaskets, oil pump, ect. those ea81t's are known for having cracked heads between the valves, and blowing hg's. its worth all the prevention work you can do. an ea82t turbo charger would be a decent upgrade, along with an intercooler of some sort, and maybe a bov......

did you try starting it? i bet it would fire right up. i also scored a $150 parts rig, and after 6 years of rest, i hooked a jumper up to it, and some starting fluid, it started, rocked it back and forth a few times to break loose the e-brake, and drove the half dead beast onto my dolly. it made me a believer just a little bit more.

whoever told you they get 35-40 is full of crap.. maybe in a fwd 5sp and driving like granny. the average ea81 will usually do 25-28. yours sounds like a tuning problem for sure. i`m sure GD will chime in here with some suggestions

yeah he's full of crap. that single headlight one is just an old DL U.S. spec if that tan one was here, i`d try saving it.... -
damn rice mufflers:grin: looks like a fun time. those wheels do look like 4x140:eek: thats pretty awesome

yea, the blue one was an 80 DL. if i was to ever find another clean gen 1, i`d paint it that exact color, and put those skinny lil tires on it. man i miss it like crazy now:dead:
-
well, i kinda needed the money then, and now i miss my old gen 1s and 360s. i had 4 gen 1s total. here are my 2 favorite, even tho i`m sure you've probly already run across them, 3rd eye ftw do you have experience with alternate fuel swaps? i`ve always had an interest in doing one up as well.....

awesome brat! looks real solid. what are your fix up plans for her? i had a 11/77 brat, and i think it was #49 of all brats ever made.....
-
i can`t really answer your question, but that would be an awesome machine if you could!! i was also thinking a ea81 with a 5sp fwd would make that thing a screamer, or better yet, ej22 5sp fwd:grin:

just paint the steel wheels black and get some chrome rings on there:

How much torque can an ea82 rear end take?
75subie replied to bgd73's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
a friend of mine tried running rwd in his outback, and we toasted 2 rears, but as of now he's been using the same one for about 3 months. just had to cut back on some sweet rwd burnouts......... -

i dig subaru_styles amber corners that are mounted on that green rx, gives it kind of a euro look. not sure where you can buy those, but i have sucessfully made amber lights with stained glass spray paint. -
