aftermarket shifters for 5 speed?
75subie replied to hatchsub's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i would bet one way or another you could make something like that work. thinking about it, the shifter on my old hatch was a b&m. it was threaded on and had a plastic insert over the old threads because the new shifter had a bigger hole to fill. i bet you can buy the plastic thread inserts somewhere. -

awesome, and no rush man:headbang: oh, and if you are really getting into chopping it up, i`d buy the rear wheel arches off you if you have a sawsall to chop them off with. mine are pretty rusted. i only need the section outlined in red: -
the loyale i just bought has pretty bad rust in the back section of the rear wheel arches. would it be possible to buy a pair of front fenders, and cut out sections of the wheel well to rivet into the rear wheel wells? or would i be better off just adding metal in and covering it with flexy flairs or something?

wow thanks for all the response guys.. well, i went and bought the car today. it is in great shape, exept for the drivers lower side of the door, and the rear wheel wells. Subrat, that would be awesome if you could get pics when you start your brat project. i`d like to see the stregth areas that will need to be braced. also a ladder rack sounds like a great idea for support. -
i am looking at a 93 loyale 4wd auto for $250 with 130k the lady is the original owner, and the car is imaculate inside, so is the engine bay. the body has a little rust here and there, but it seems worth it. do you guys think it would be possible to make it into a brat by welding the rear doors shut, and shaving the door handles? i would also make a rear cab wall to stregthen it more. would it also need more braces? wonder it i could use a toyota truck tailgate or something?? here is a rough pic of the idea (car is also identical to the one i`m looking at)

Operose, Gary's over in Binghampton ny had 3 beautiful ej22s last weekend, 2 were 96s one was a 93. definatly worth a look. i also shot over to Harrys from Gary's last weekend. harry's has a crapload of ea82s and about 6 ea81s, but most ej22s were well picked over. i still like that xt6 Harrys has for sale in his used car lot, even though its $1295 and its been for sale for months

i called them the other day, and ALL THE CARS ARE GONE!!! :-\ that truly is a huge shame to waste such a good collection:confused:

75subie replied to 75subie's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
if it sounds to good to be true, it probly is. here is the email i got from the seller: :-\ he offered me $100 not to buy it, so i guess that makes it a little better at least:-\ -

thanks guys! jonas, the one pictured on my post is the one i had a few years ago, the gutters have been trashed and replaced:grin: those were aluminum wagon wheels. i think they came on 83s. it seemed like a good investment. i hate that i'm going to need to drive it this winter:-\ with the salt and all -
just bought this brat, so i`m pretty stoked. its almost identical to my last 85. it wasn`t too cheap, but now and days, it seems like a brat in its shape would bring around $3500-4000.what do you guys think? did i overpay? kinda bought it on impulse:lol: also there is a pic of my last one as well: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Subaru-BRAT-Subaru-BRAT-1985_W0QQitemZ110039203838QQihZ001QQcategoryZ6467QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
