Whats fair for an '82 brat w/ pics
75subie replied to croak's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
i know the exact brat you are talking about (in CA, tan) it looks like a clean brat, but not near perfect. $1800 would seem fair for one in that shape. years ago it would have probly been a $1k truck. he`ll probly sell it either way. -
looks awesome!! the white looks great on it. are you gonna put a black stripe on it now? keep us posted with pics as you assemble it.

from searching around ALOT, i have come to the conclusion that $3500 is a very good amount for a gen 1 brat, $1500 for a good runner, 500-1100 for a beater with some rust. i don`t thing it will appreciate or depreciate much either. the gen 2's seem to be climbing, but the 1's don`t seem to be.

yeah, ea81's are classics:headbang: $1200 seems very fair for the car. i bought my 87 rust free hatch with working a/c and cruise, no rust, very comparable to that car, for $500, but i paid another $600 shipping and put a tranny in it, so pretty equal deal.

what weight tranny oil do you guys use? (ea81 4wd)

Hi Jerry, what color was the interior? did it have a high rise? thanks Jon -
i`d like to get a set of those targa stripes for when/if i get another brat:D

the stock beetle motors actually suited them very well. i drove one once, and it was very capable, and very fun.

81 Subaru DL conversion to fuel injection...
75subie replied to Alexx's topic in Subaru Retrofitting
i think it would be cool if GD or someone on here started making spfi kits for ea81s. you know, like putting the setups together out of jy cars, then modding the ea82 disty to fit into the ea81, numbering or labeling the wires on the ecu, etc. i`d buy one if the price wasn't too outrageous. -
1973 Splitgate Wagon
75subie replied to bryanthompson's topic in Historic Subaru Forum: 50's thru 70's
i got a nice set of early 70s wide offset mags suby mags (from australia i`m told), but shipping would be a killer. -
thats the only way you can even tow an awd car on a dolly. if you take out the drive shaft running from the tranny to the rear diff, the rear wheels can spin freely. the tranny works kind of like a diff when connected to the rear wheels. of course all of the gear oil in the tranny will drain out, but that can be replaced at the end of the tow......

cleaned up and driving, you could pull in the neighborhood of $500 for it with those miles. to be honest, it just doesn`t seem worth while unless your buying it to drive or make into an off roader

that would have an ea81 engine with 4sp d/r where the heck is the rust??? it looks pretty clean to me. get it as cheap as possible, i`d offer $100-150.
