  1. i think its definatly worth fixing, just because the body condition alone. switch the motor out, or fix the hg's, then resell it for $1000, i bet someone would take it. if the milage wasn`t filled in on the title, just go to a pap and get a speedo with like 120k lol:lol: i know, thats bad advice:brow:
  2. OMG wake me up i must be having a nightmare:eek:
  3. i`m guessing its an 88 efi 4wd wagon................ http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=60329
  4. if you need a quick fix, just wire your fan so it comes on when you turn the key.....
  5. if you saw his driving style, you would know why people race him:lol:
  6. with the later ej22s, are they dohc? any HG issues? would i be better off just finding a 95 leg 5sp 4wd instead of the forester? i have seen some go in the $1k range, and they still seem like a reasonably nice car.
  7. i don`t even know if i can even trust the tranny in this forester though, my uncle didn`t really baby this thing. he does alot of high speed driving, jack rabbit take offs, and down shifting to third with an auto. if someone has ever wanted to race him, he'd run it right up to a buck-ten when the fuel cut kicks in......
  8. i thought it was unheard of too. he has 180k on it, the first set went at 100k. this time they went because of a hole in his lower rad hose (not sure how that got there?), i guess he must not have been watching his temp guage. would a 2.2 from a 98 be non interference? would the flywheels be the same?
  9. oh, and i know of a rather large parts source in reading PA if anyone is interested. not sure if the guy is still alive, but i bought 3 boxes of nos 360 parts off him 2 yrs ago....
  10. the reason i ask is because my uncle is on his second set of HG's and this time he warped the heads, so he offered it to me for $500. i wouldn`t mind sacrificing a little power for reliability. i'm always hearing success stories with ej22s, so it seems like a good choice of engine. i know a good inspection guy, so as long as i got the motor out of a 96 or so car, it would probly pass fine.... oh and yes, its a 98 forester....
  11. Andrew should snag that 4 speed for his 75 auto coupe, it would probly make it a little more fun to drive..... here are pics of andrew's ride, its a nice example: http://www.geocities.com/idahojack03/Jack_Subaru.html
  12. excuse my stupidity, but what is linux? i usually use photobucket, and link them here, piece of cake.if you cant't upload them, thats no biggie, thanks for the reply.
  13. todd, isn`t this one of the years that had big head gasket problems causing warped heads?
  14. what style subes do you have? ea81 or ea82? 4wd? turbo?
  15. sayn3ver, did you get pics of your imp lifted yet? i`m looking at a 96 coupe, just would like to see how it would look with a lil extra height.....
  16. i wish i could save it, but with that much rust, it probly would be impractical for a guy like me to attempt a resto like that. :-\ i bet the motor is still good though
  17. how hard would it be to put a ej22 into a forester out of a mid 90's legacy? what year would be the most reliable and easiest to adapt? would the tranny bolt up? thanks Jon
  18. doesn`t look too bad really, but it seems like $100-200 would be a fair price for it. i wonder how it looks underneath. thanks for posting it Elroy!! hopefully someone can rescue it or parts from it. is that a gen one wagon a few cars down from it? the red one?
  19. by removing his front halfshafts, still leaving the outer spindles in to hold the front end together. this would make the car rear wheel drive. also these cars have front emergency brakes, so just set the emergency brake and dump the clutch in first:D subes are so light in the rear, i bet a stock sube set up in rwd could do just as good of a burnout.....
  20. i still have noticed a big improvement in brake power, i have no way to explain why, but i have tried many types of rotors and pads, the drilled and slotted have been the best rotors in my opinion.
  21. thats a good question:confused: maybe one of the power wires was not taped or capped properly and it hit bare metal causing it to ground therefore creating smoke and cutting off power? if you still want to fix it, just yank the radio out and look at your wiring, the problem is probly right up there........
