  1. what really sucks about mud is in the middle of the winter and the stuff freezes your front doors stuck and you have to climb though the back
  2. i know this converstion has been done may time to 4wd wagons brats hatches ect. but not to a 2wd car. I would like to do it to my 3 door which is my daily driver I know that rear disk only came out on turbos but aren't there 2wd turbo xts out there the owners manual says there were so, has one done this is it the some as changing over a 4wd
  3. I say timeing to also if that does not fix you back firing problem block off or replace the reed valves on buth sides of the motor they will cause the car to back fire
  4. I Made all my shifter bushings (for my wagon) out of bearing bronze and press fitted them in also drilled and trapped grease fittings so they will never ware out
  5. well not on all the time only when is cold and the gas pedal is bearly depressed a quick stomp on the gas and it goes off and stays off i think it is the TPS but MAF this is my 3dr (which sat since 95 with a bad coil fuse take that curtsey subaru) my daily driver the cel does not really bother me but i would like it to stay off so which to replace first also there is not a stored code in the ecm so
  6. cheers to the litte blue hatch mate thats one good looking hatch
  7. your partly right sweet82 but to ajust the rear jack the rear end up to let the pressure off the rear struts now with the wheel off look at the bottom of the strut there is a stair step looking part at the bottom the center of the strut it should be on the bottom step to move it up just turn the strut at the bottom spring sattle
  8. the stock carb will work fine no mods needed but if you want more power a weber is what your looking for but it will burn a little more gas
  9. Its my 3 door I picked up a few weeks ago the throw bearing is locked up so I'm back to driving the wagon and the lift is put back on hold anyway i just wanted to know which is quicker and easier to change the clutch to pull the motor or the trans I have pulled the motor to change the clutch on my wagon but i had alinment problems with the clutch disk so this being a 2wd would it be easier to pull the trans
  10. Its my 86 wagon check the link at the bottom of this post
  11. theres a national forest that i go run the fire trails if any wants to go with me in a few weeks i'll be going
  12. well my 86 wagon is a gl but its the same thing and it can speak for its self being that its my daily driver 560k on it and thats the orginal bottom end
  13. i also think it looks better now
  14. thats i have a both of them so, would you buy it with whats wrong with it having the parts that could fix it that is. i know given the time i can fix any thing wrong with the car but it needs to be running by this fall when i go back to collage in dever co. i hope its the disty so, i can retire the which has 563,341 miles give or take a mile or so, it needs all the frontend parts replaced steering rack and, all besides the quart of oil it burns every 500 miles it needs rings bad
  15. the rotor turns when the key its in the start pision what would it be if the coil has no ground the disty?
  16. I found 1 owner 88 3 door dl with 120000 miles locally and i'm not letting this car slip away like the last one anyway let me cut to the chase. the owner told me it had a break t belt when it was panked 4 years ago so got i looked it over today the tbelts are fine pulled the plugs out of the covers to verify that so, its not the tbelts i ask the owner what happened when it broke down she said it just quit running and glided to a stop so, i check the fuel pump it its fine runs and has 43 psi so, i pulled the air duck the thottle body pure gas in the thottle body no start i didn't know if it has spark or it problely don't so, help please
  17. the 86 has blow your goal out of the water
  18. nice i didn't know they lifted them back then
  19. no rebuilts just two known head jobs and a clutch but I would like to know how many miles is on your rigs
  20. I would just like to know how much the subaru's your have added to their ticker in the past year mine 86 gl 5spd d/r wagon has 561056 miles on it now so, whats yours got
  21. check the tbelts and the tenioners (which i have had to lock up on me in the past) if it leaks oil the the valve cover gaskets and check the cv boots and ujoints
  22. thanks i know how to change head gaskets but i already have this motor laying a around and i intend to run run the spfi if i can all i would take is changing the gear on the bottom of the disty right thats no big deal and since i will be living in a dorm i pretty much need the car to be bomb proof since i will be about a 1000 mile from my tools and lift . by the way the cars body is the best i have ever seen it has 96000 miles on it the paint is great and no rust anywhere
  23. I have found a 87 3 door dl coupe spfi 5spd 2wd that has a blown head gasket for $450 now i think its a good deal since the body is good so if i were to get it i would like to make it a daily driver thats more dependable and reliable than my wagonand would like it to get about 30-38 miles the gallon so it would be cheaper to run now that the wagon is getting a lift very soon so i would like your opinions on putting a built ea81 1600 pistons heads shaved ect. in it so it will require less work to keep it running for the next few years. while i am working and going to collage
  24. ME TOO that would be the greatest thing subaru done sice the 80s
  25. oh that may help i am try to use the fuseable links box on the donor wiring harness could that be my problem it dose not say any thing about this in the conversion manual and all i stipped off the harness was the lights and fuse box could that be my problem
