Two Important East Coast Meets, and more Before Carlisle
What is all this stuff about? Moosens your not that far away from me, you gotta let me know if there are Suby wheeling partys going on around here. I guess I have to poke my head in here more often. I might me a bit of a ride for you,( I know it's an hour ride for me) but we will probly be going to a place called Mabells pretty soon. Ever heard of it? It a populer wheeling spot near Springfield Mass. I rode along with my freind last weekend for a Jeep run there to check it out. It's fully passable in my Loyal and there are a lot of other trails in the area. Any one game?

ALL EAST COASTERS! Carlisle, Pa meet 5/21-23. UPDATE!
I could probly make it down. (I'll bring the Loyal) If my wife can make this trip maybe I'll have her bring the Legacy wagon. I'll have the SVX down there in Reading next month, but I guess a month between overnight meets in long enough:D I did have the Loyal in Philly in January during the 48hr's run so I know it can make the trip. What is the dead line for registration?

Pics of BRAT painted UPDATE New tire Pic added
Nice color. So your going to 33's now. I got to wonder, how does that thing wheel like that. I've just got 30's on my wagon and I still do alot of clutch slipping to get over stuff. How the hell does that thing go with 33's? I don't think your built ER27 can have that much more power than my EJ22 Turbo, Can it:confused:

mpfi conversion, what not to do
I just used the stock line when I did the EFI in my 81 wagon and didn't have any problems. I just mounted the stock EA82 pump in the stock location and all was good. I don't see why anyone would get all crazy with extra tanks and new lines.

Why do you love your Sube
Moose is alot closer to that than I am, besides I don't really think that BRAT would be worth the trouble unless he's giving it away. Juging by the description of rust in bed and rust on tailgate and the pic of the interior I can see some rust on the door sill, so I'm guessing it's just as rotted as any old BRAT. Probly a good deal if the guy wants $150 for it but not worth anyone going out of his way for. Except maybe to smack the guy that posted the sale.

Why do you love your Sube
Just don't get any on my car, OK

Why do you love your Sube
Everything! I've had: 85 Brat 81 Wagon 87 Turbo sedan 77 Brat 85 Turbo XT 88 Wagon 91 Turbo Legacy (still have) 87 Turbo XT 92 SVX (still have) 88 Wagon 91 Loyal wagon (still have) 90 Legacy wagon (still have) I just can't get enough! Easiest cars I have ever worked on and with AWD they will outshine any big sloppy truck when the roads get slippery.

I'm a Subie owner! (Pictures Added)
I would say it's alot easier than doing one in an F-150:rolleyes: For one the exaust will come off, the crossmember will unbolt and come out, and it's a hell of a lot lighter. I hate F-150's:mad: Anyway, nice looking wagon. I can't belive it doesn't have any body rust on it. Sweet;) I would say a $175 tranny for a $150 car ain't to bad. I had to put a $550 tranny in my $200 Legacy, that sucked. Go wheelin!

Supercharged 4 Cylinder?
Um, does the hood close on that XT6? We do all know that the pic of the SVX is just a Buick 3.8L supercharger sitting on top of an SVX motor right? Also, how come no one has mentioned the STX concept with the 2.5L supercharged motor? It would have been cool but they ditched it.

Need help understanding the divorced t-case mod
So with the T-case mode people are breaking diffs and axles? I guess the stock tranny is a solid unit? Then again is anyone runnig a T-case mod with an EJ20T or EJ22T? I'm getting more and more into the idea of building my EJ22T powered Suckzuiky axled Justy, but I wish there was just a tranny with no front diff that would bolt up to the EJ motor?

Control Arms??
I did the control arm swap on my 81 wagon when I did the EA82T swap. I think the arms are longer also (to make up for the longer axles for the EA82 tranny) You do have to cut the bracket off the EA82 crossmember and weld it to the EA81 crossmember. Not a big deal if you have a sawsall and a welder.

Tricking inspectors?
Good point. I did know that, in fact I work at a garage in CT. so I've done a few safety inspections myself. I'm still not sure what the current deal is with the inspections right now but I know the emmisions is up and running.

8 yr old daughter building EA-82
Geez at age 8 I think I was just tooling on bikes and stuff. I don't think I started taking apart my parents cars untill I was 11. againt thier will. I remember working with my dad on our 81 Rabbit as he was checking and topping of the gear oil. I argued with him that the hole he was gona put the gearoil in wasn't the one they showed in the book, but he put it in there anyway:rolleyes: Turns out it was the clutch inspection hole:eek: Yeah I don't know how I became so mechanically inclined but I don't think I got it from MY parents.

Tricking inspectors?
Hmm. I'm getting my Loyal inspected next Sat at a Suby dealer. The last time I had it inspected at a Midas shop 2yrs. ago, that was right after I finished the lift and it passed no problem. This year I have the EJ22T in it that probly runs cleaner than the EA ever did so I should have no problem with the emmisions part, plus with the AWD tranny in it they can't run it on the rollers this time. In R.I. they have 1 or 2 year inspections (depends on the day you show up) were they do a compleat saftey and emmisions test. I think it's a good idea becouse some people drive some really dangerous crap around in CT., were they only saftey inspect when you register the car after that they never check again.

SubaRubicon stills-reloaded!!
Thats what I was hoping, but it was hard to tell in the pic. kick rump roast.

SubaRubicon stills-reloaded!!
Those are pretty big rocks. Does that blue hatch have a straite axle in the rear, or am I seeing things?

Fuel pump problem
I belive the ECU relay powers up the fuel pump relay. So you would still have spark but the FP relay could still be bad.

EJ engine EA tranny- I'm going in...
Now this I gotta see.
-
EJ engine EA tranny- I'm going in...
So you just are crazy? This Justy will just be RWD then? When I did mine I just cut the top section of the bellhousing off both trannies and then welded the EJ sections to the EA tranny. This allowed me to use the stronger EJ clutch and still have a duel range with diff lock.
-
EJ engine EA tranny- I'm going in...
OK, so what exactly are you doing? putting an EJT with an EA tranny in a Justly?
-
Fuel pump problem
Hmm? The only thing I've seen with the F.P. wired through the oil pressure switch is GM's. And I don't think the Loyals will kill the pump if the Alt isn't charging, I think that ended with the old GL/DL's. The fuel pump realy should be near the computer under the steering colume, I think its the round relay but I can't be sure right now.

RX Owners - Hows the Chassis On your Cars?
Damn it Mark! Would you please take off that picture of your Legacy, it's remindes me of what I want mine to look like when I finally get it back together. But really, I think it looks awsome.

Fuel pump problem
Have any of them tried changing the fuel pump or the fuelpump relay? Thoes would be easy places to start.

Building a hot pre 1976
EJ20T 2.0L WRX motor. 227HP Ok but lacking .2Liters for my tast. EJ22 2.2L about 132hp depending on year. Almost bullet proof, very reliable. Best motor subaru ever built. EJ22T 2.2L Turbo 91 to 94 Legacy. 160HP 180FTlbs. Also bullet proof. Built for turbo duty, and easy to make more power with intercoolers and boost controllers. My top pick. EJ25 2.5L Availible in SOHC and DOHC configs. About 165HP 165FTlbs Moslty bullet proof but have had headgasket issuse that I'm not sure Subaru has acctually fixed. EJ25T 2.5L Turbo. STI 300HP Kick rump roast tourqe and power. If you can afford it this is the motor you want. Yet to see if it will have the headgasket issuse of it's non turbo brothers. EG33 3.3L 92 to 97 SVX. 230hp 227ftlbs bullet proof and fast out of the box, but a little to big for first gen. Older diffs have stickers telling if it's an LSD and what the ratio is. Sometime around 95 I'm guessing they stoped putting the stickers on so you will has to guess. I don't think there is anyway to tell what ratios are in the tranny unless you take it apart to count teeth so the best idea is to get a tranny and rearend out of the same car so you know the ratios are the same.
