Building a hot pre 1976
I would love to build a 76ish wagon streetcar. I would go the EJ Turbo route with AWD and I'm thinking of grafting in a Legacy stlye rear suspension, cut down to fit of course. The only prob is finding a body solid enough to start with:( Sometimes I wished I lived in Arizona or something but I live in the rust belt.

Any more RX's FS? Anywhere??
I have an 89 RX with no floors or rockers! Well I guess thats not what your looking for.

temp sender mounting options
I installed an electric gauge in my Loyal after the EJ22 swap becouse the Loyal temp gauge wouldn't shag with the EJ sender. I just cut it into the heater hose comming of the manifold, you will still need some brass fittings to put it together but you'll have no probs fitting it in.

welding my rear end?
Hmm? I think there a thing of people thinking that switch in the center console that say "diff lock" is for the rear.

What should I know about LSD?
I acctually have a question to add. Are the early (EA82) LSD's a different type than the later (EJ's) LSD's? I ask becous I've had 3 LSDs out of EA cars and they seem almost locked, very hard to turn in opposite directions. But the EJ LSDs are alot easier to turn. Whats the dill yo?

welding my rear end?
I think if your ever gona run it on dry pavment that a welded diff is a bad idea. I welded the diff on my Loyal a wile back it it tore the rear axles up, it also did not like to take off in a turn. It would spin the front tire for a long time if you really took of fast in 2WD turning. It is however the shizznicky for off-road.

What the heck is wrong with this piece!
If the car will not move when you put it in gear than I would say something is very wrong. You did put it together right, right? Did you check to make sure the splines on the new clutch fit good on the splines on the tranny? I think the 4WDs had a bigger spline. As long as the clutch fork isn't to tight and keeping the clutch from engaging it should still move in gear even if it had a broken clutch cable or bad throwout bearing.

8 on 140mm wheels?
I think the question was, Is there an 8lug wheel that he can just bolt right on only using 4 of the holes? Right? I havn't found or tried any yet. I just used the Izuzu 6 lugs and drilled the two extra holes in the wheels. So far no broken studs but plenty of abuse:D

8" lift done!! pics of travel and car!!
I wasn't saying it wasn't still a Subaru if thats what you thought? I may just be mad because all I get to go wheeling with aroung here is Jeeps. Why don't more East coast people build wheeling Subys? I think the the T-case modded ones are pretty awsome to still maintain there Subaru heritage, it's just that after all the work I'v put into my Loyal, if I build another offroader it has to be able to clear 37's, so i'm thinking straite axle is my best bet. But if I were just starting my Loyal lift, I would definitlly go the T-case route.

Gen 1 brat
Sounds like a sweet ride:burnout: I picked up a 77 out of some guys back yard for $50 some years ago. I had to weld the pass. side door hinges back on just to drive the thing. Never did get a pass side window for it thoe, and I drove it all winter. Damn was it cold.

8" lift done!! pics of travel and car!!
Hmm, I though he said the joke thing as a joke. Anyway. The car looks like it sits really well. The T-case conversion seems to be getting real popular. I mean with a 4inch body lift on my Loyal I can clear 30's and if I really hacked up the fender wells I'm sure I could get some 31's under there, but at this point I would have no crawling ability. That is what I like about the T-case conversion, plus it's makes it alot easier and cheaper to get a front LSD. The only thing is that when you get to the point of using a devorce transfer you kinda straying away from it being a Subaru drivetrain anymore. You may as well do a strait axle swap with all the fabricating you have to do. At least they are proven to twist:rolleyes: Just wondering at what point does a lifted Subaru just become a Subaru body on a truck chassis? P.S. I have been mulling around the idea of putting some Samurie Spl? axles under a Justy with an EJ22T power plant, custom 4 links with coilovers and room for 37's. I have the Justy and the Samurie.

any one see the 360 on ebay!!!
I once chased down a car I saw going the other way on the highway pulling into a rest stop. From the other side of the highway it looked like a 360, but when I got up to it I found out it was a Fiat 500. Still pretty cool, and the guy had no idea what a 360 was. There is also a 360 P.U. at a dealership near me with like 600miles or something stupid like that on it. It's all original, it was bought by some politicion for driving in parades and the guy that still works at the dealership ( I think it was the first car he ever sold) kept his eye on it and bought it when they auctioned off the estate. (This info is from memory and may be cloudy, but the important thing is: It's clean, it's low milage, and I WANT IT!

is there a speed limiter on my loyale?
Actually in 94 SVX's came with speed limiters. The fastest I ever got my dads 87 GL-10 Turbo sedan was 125mph. I don't know how fast my 81 wagon could go because the speedo only went up to 85. But since it had the same drivetrain as the 87 Turbo I have to belive it was close to 125. I fould out on the Tri-state cruise that I can do at least 110mph in my Monster Wagon, and it out runs RS's from the tolls. Had the 91 Legacy Turbo up to 140mph, and the SVX up to 150mph.

SVX Exhaust on EA82
Even thats a far stretch when it comes to the exaust, remember it has a muffler mounted horizontal across the back of the car with duel tip comming out each side, never seen a Legacy like that before.

SVX Exhaust on EA82
Not in any way that would be easier or cheaper than just getting an exaust built for it.

Getting off a stripped brake line
Yeah we have that problem with the NAPA we get all the stuff for the shop from, sometimes you have to go down there and smack them in the back of the head to get what you want. Trust me they have the right ones, we have a couple of lengths sitting at the shop right now. Alot of the 90's GM's use the same size fittings.

Brushguard Question
OK , looks like I've got a gen2 A long style. It is a bit modded becouse I had lights in the front bumber and had to move the middle bar up, and I also had lights mounted in the lower corners of the fenders( like the new Outbacks) so I made some bars that run under the bottom of the fenders to keep them from getting crushed. Off course after I swaped in the EA82T I lowered the car and put on an XT bumber.

EA82 Wagon suspension mods?
Well then that is pretty cool:cool: Kinda voids the lifetime warranty thoe, huh?

Brushguard Question
Whats the differance between a full size and an A style brush guard? I'v still got the one off my 81 Safari wagon, what style would that be?
-
Getting off a stripped brake line
Thats a very good sugestion, NAPA has many sizes of premade brake line with metric fittings. Tip: if your not sure get it a few inches longer, you can always add a few bends to make it longer.

batteries and chargers
Good question, my SVX is sporting an SOA battery. I don't think it's original but it does OK, anymore that 2weeks with out starting and it feels a little low. I'm running a NAPA Orbital in my Loyal now, it has a good sence of humer went it comes to having to crank alot. It also does a better job of keeping the volts up when I'm winching.
