  1. Anyone done the EA-EJ swap within 3 hours of Lewiston,Idaho? If so I will personally pay for your gas to come down here and help me sort the wiring out. Then I will also compensate you for your time.At this point I would much rather pay the gas of someone driving a 74 suburban 3 hours each way then to screw this harness up much more.I just don't know what any of the connectors are for,I don't understand wiring diagrams, and my digital camera is MIA so I can't post pics of all the problem areas....
  2. I have two ecu's: one from a 91 legacy with a manual, and one from a 91 legacy auto. They phsicaly look the same, however in the identifier on the side of the box the manual says D8,where as the auto says C8.Are they different versions?Would one be better than the other?the one from the manual I also got the engine from.
  3. you mean cut the wire?rather than the pin?
  4. the red relay that on the piece of metal that the headlight relay is on.is that needed or do I cut all the relays except for the ignition and fuel relay? Also the fuse box,if it is not needed can I cut the wires going to it and trace them to their sources and slice near the source? On the fusebox there appears to be a fuse for ignitionwould that be the only wire to keep. sorry about all this,I can't read wiring diagrams to save my life.So far ive just cut wires heading to things. For example when I pulled the harness,I cut the section that goes to lights up front and removed the cut wires.then I cut the TCU,the shift lock unit, wires that were going to the transmission(when pulled)and the window wiper connector.. What items are for ABS?Pics?the connectors near the cruise control,Is anything needed in those?I heard that the fuel pump power wire is among those. I am not sure if I am stripping the harness down correctly,I am just finding compents that are not needed then just removing the assorted wiring that goes with them.Except some connecters had ECU wires to them like the wires for AC went to some connectors shared by the ECU.And when I removed the AC wires some wires on alternator wiring became unneeded(large white wires heading to AC relays, branching of from alt wires)so now Im worried.
  5. also, those LARGE grey connectors? are thy mostly body wiring or?I haven't seen alot of the ECU wires heading that direction. But then Im only on the first part of the harness.
  6. Also there is another box that says SHIFT LOCK UNIT.is that part of the controls for the automatic that the wiring harness came from?
  7. I just got a wiring harness from a 91 legacy with an AUTO!My computer and engine are from another 91.So far all ive really done is stripped down the harness that goes through the left fender and into the engine.By stripped I mean I removed all the 80 lbs of electric tape as well as the convulted sleving.I have a Question on this(the first of many!)on the legacy there is a box with 4 relay looking things and two blade type fuses. The four relays All have the same part number :056700-848Q.they are made by DENSO.is anything in that box needed for EA-EJ swap?
  8. I think me needs to find a WRX front clip...
  9. fuel injection rules for steep angles. One problem with my 87 GL wagon is it would die on steep angles(carb) now on the other hand I have a powerfull FI motor to put in.... similar to a 4.0L jeep swaped to a 350 chevy TBI.Except less power...
  10. After I get my current project done (EJ22 into 87 GL for offroading ) I was thinking if I can find a money tree I will find a EA82 wagon(nice paint) then I will put a EJ20TT into it along with a WRX 5mt.then I will lower the car(somehow, convert to 5 lug or something).Oh yes,one other thing,I am aiming for 300-450HP at the wheels.... is my project do-able?Won't happen for a while due to monetary concerns.but it should kill just about everything.
  11. is the xt engine the same as a EA82?or is it different?I know XT6 is a whole nother animal...am I missing something..
  12. when did you swap to the older style headlights?last time I saw that car it had the sealed beams on.
  13. I CALL MAJOR BS on that.one of my tow hooks on my wagon damn near ripped out of the body when a truck pulled me of an offcamber hill(one front tire in the air,one back tire in the air) the truck didn't do the back up and floor it method, they just tugged me out.
  14. me thinks your garage is a mess
  15. so how do you make sure everything is lined up right? I have an EJ22, and I have a ECU(don't have wiring harness But at the same time the adapter plate is expensive when I need to save up for other things SJR lift among those as well as college:eek:
  16. correct me if Im wrong but wernt you running supper swampers?why would you want mud terrains?(granted they are good MT's but still. confuzled..
  17. Pulled the motor. The car was showing 196K on the odometer.and had some damage with looked to be enough to total the car(I hopes) the motor came from a 91.the computer I got two weeks earliar came frome the same car...although one thing I didnt notice until I pulled the motor was someone had grabed the alternator...does a GM alternator fit with some tweaking like the EA82's or do I have to find a subaru alternator? didn't grab the harness though...
  18. Anyone happen to be heading up there today?I might use some help to speed the process up...spokane pull and save
  19. yes A fram hoist.so breaker bar,10,12,14 MM sockets, one deep 6 point 14 MM,a 17mm socket.3/8" drive or 1/2" drive. To pulll the dash and left fender are the tools in that list going to be sufficent?
  20. What are all of the tools I will need to remove the engine and wiring harness from a 90-94 legobrick?I will be pullling a motor at the spokane pull and save 2 hours away from my house so I can't just go home and grab a 17 mm socket. the motor of choice is an Ej22 OB1.lets just say my 87 Gl needs a better motor...mumbles something about EA82's being worthless
  21. what kind of offroading do you do?
  22. so what does the BYB kit compromise?adding spacers to the rear shocks rather than longer shocks?
