  1. my car started running rough on the way to work this morning. it had very little power and sounded like it was running on only 2 cyl. i pulled the plugs and they were white in color. put new ones in and it runs good again. looks like it was running lean. what would cause this. the plugs i pulled out were not that old.
  2. it's a place called rafko. the main plant is in canada and is called fenco. some of you probably heard of them before. i think autozone sells fenco parts. they reman about everything. i used to run the grinding machines for the outer cv joint and assemble them. i know alot of people have had problems with reman parts so maybe i've just been lucky so far. although i have one of our axles on my other soob and it has alot of miles on it and still no problems. the company bought out another plant in another state not sure witch one and moved the whole axle operation down there. then i was doing brake calipers for a while and have a set of them on my soob that i assembled no problems yet. now i'm currently doing rack and pinions. one upside is i got a discount on the axles and could get the calipers for free providing i brought the cores back.

  5. i got my car back and it shifts like a new car. they said my duty c was not working. they switched mine for another one at no extra charge. they gave me the solonoid back. it seems to work fine now. i still don't know why it would quit with less than 10,000 miles on it though.
  6. i'll probably find out monday. i can't make it down their because i gotta work but my girlfriend will give them hell for me.
  7. the place that did it is a subaru garage and thats probably all they work on. they sell used parts. i highly doubt they would make a stupid mistake like this, unless it was intentional. i had new clutches and solonoid put in by a local subaru dealer kinley's subaru.
  8. i am just going by what they said. they were supposed to switch them. if it worked when i drove it in then it would have to be somthing caused by them or the new trans right. all i can say is if they don't make it right i'm never going their again and i will tell every subaru owner i know about it.
  9. i just had my car in the shop to get another trans put in. i had new duty c and clutches put in about 10,000 miles ago. so i told them to put my tail housing on the new trans. i went to pick it up and they are saying their is somthing wrong and i have no awd. now they want to switch them back. is their anything that could cause this.
  10. is their any place that sells repair panels. i was going to cut out the bad and weld in new but it's worse than i thought and theirs not really anything to weld to. the almost the whole panel is rusted including the pinch weld. however the floor inself looks very solid. my girlfriend had this car for about 7 years and loves it, it runs 100% and i think i really hurt her feelings when i told her i didn't know if it was worth fixing. it is a shame because it has always been a good car and has 240K on it but runs like it only has 40K. what should i do try to fix or is it not worth it. i found a 90 leg wagon 5 speed 4x4 for 600 obo. it has a decent body but has more miles i think about 290,000. i was thinking of offering them $300-400 for it. if it runs good now do ya think it could still run good for a while with that many miles.
  11. we had it to the garage and he said it was the keyless entry module. he pulled the fuse for that and this morning the car started right up. now we have another problem. to find the problem above he pulled the fuses and relays under the hood and under the dash. now since we got the car back it wants to cut out and at low speeds and it stalls. even going at highway speeds the car will jerk every now and then like it's cutting out. could this in any way be caused by pulling the fuses, maybe somthing got reset that shouldn't have. would pulling the fuse for the keyless entry system do this if it's ran with the fuse out.
  12. i had it to the garage and they think the noise is a wheel bearing but i showed them the looseness in the cv and they thought that it was a little excessive. whats involved in fixing the bearing caps
  13. it's not the cv shaft. if i grab the shaft at the very end right where it goes into the trans their is alot of play in all directions. it would have to be something loose in the trans. i'm not 100% sure this is where the noise is, it could be a wheel bearing but after i seen this i started thinking it was coming from the trans. i checked my other soob and that has a little play to so i didn't know if this was normal or not. the inner cv was also very hot to the touch, is this normal.
  14. i get this humming noise that echo's through the whole car and i can also feel it under my feet. it is worst at about 40 mph and gets a little quieter when at highway speeds. i was thinking wheel bearing but i noticed i can move the inner cv and their is a considerable amount of play in and out and side to side. both cv's are like this but the driver side is worse. thes is on a 90 legacy awd. i checked my other legacy and their is also play but not as much. now when i grab the cv on the other legacy it's warm to the touch, but on this one it is pretty hot. is it normal for the trans to have this play.
  15. i did check to make sure the trunk light was off. i have a meter and when i get a chance i will check it out some more.
  16. he had a chrysler cirrus before the subaru's very nice car. i never heard the whole story but she was driving that and some how rolled that one over. completely destroyed the car. from what i heard he is staying with her because he's afraid she will take off with their kid. i got him into subaru's and he owns 2 now a 90 ls sedan and this 94 he just got.
  17. not the alt. battery still went dead. i did pull the fuses for the radio and a few other things and i'll check it maybe tomorrow and see what i find.
  18. he's still with her. this is not the first thing she's done like that trust me. the car still seems to run good and park still works. he just wanted to know if this might cause problems later.
  19. what damage could happen if it was put into park going about 10-15 mph. my buddys girlfriend got mad and did this and he wanted to know what it could do to the trans
  20. i did disconnect the alt. if i get a chance i'm going to reconnect it today and see if the battery is still charged. i'll let you know what i find out.
  21. friend of mine just bought a 94 legacy wagon awd. when accelerating quickly it has a bad vibration in the rear of the car. otherwise it is smooth. only does it on fast accelerations. with fwd fuse in it quits. could a bad cv or somthing cause this
