beataru replied to Caboobaroo's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
No mod it seriously, so I can have an excuse to compete with someone, ex. I have to buy this bigger ball bearing turbo mom, why? because caboob has a faster car than me and that is un acceptable... :-p -
There is something of value at walmart, a breeding ground for infectious diseases.

I thought you did that swapiness or whatever that thread was called, because you were sick of these turds... -
after the katana breaks, resort to chuck norris roundhouses, and death stares!

or it may be creeping because of the poopy design of the internal wastegate, thanks for the link!

my car would keep going, now that its out of 4wd it will coast untill my nano circuits rebuild themselves... anyways, seriously, if a strike did occur, do you think you want to be relying your subie to keep you alive? i mean come on, lets protect our refers, I like food, even more than my blueroo. and video games, and... and...

Thanks man, Its nice to have someone say sweet car, usually its the people at the gas station who say its badass, and then try to tell me that its AWD, and not 4wd... honestly some peoples children, anyways, I am now replacing my master cylinder, being that this is the only time I have ever fixed something on my car and nothing has bit me in the butt, ive decided that while my luck is good, I will fix other things, please refer to my other thread I just started if you want to help me along the way
-
Ok, I just took out my old master cylinder, I guess it developed a leak, the past week I noticed that my brake fluid light came on so I found the leak, at the base where it connects to the booster. My question is, what should I do now that I have my old one off? Should I adjust the brakes via the little adjuster in there or what? and if so, How? Thanks EDIT, so I just slapped it in, after quickly bench bleeding it, I dont have anyone here to help me bleed the brakes, but It shall be done tomarrow, I hope my luck with this car holds out!

Sweetness, I got her up on all fours, scooted underneath and pushed on the lever, and sure enough click, and im out of 4wd. Thank Jebus, I posted a few pics sorry, the camera was dieing so I had to be fast. my awesome setup, although it lacks in the power department.... Somewhere down here is a big azz diapragm,(hard to see in the pic) thats what actuates the 4wd. Its underneath the Red Starter Cable. The black thing is the lever, My car isnt supposed to be a dirty oil leaker, but a few issues have arrived. The Diagnosis will come later, it may just be a fluke, or old age (this tranny has 260k+ on it) snow is the only ting that will get me to locker up again...

make me a header PLEASE... This thread is great, extreemely informative, I had my car pushing around 11 psi, but the tdo4 likes to creep, so I hit fuel cut often. Once I get a job Ill get her running again.
-
SO you have a fuel Mixture guage, aka rich lean?
-
I think I big Ham Radio antenna, No not the mobile ones, I mean one of the old school ones, before they limited the height, and have that going straight to ground.

I did have this problem before, when i first got the car (the day after actually ) but it was just my impatience combined with the awesome subaru pushbutton system, it worked fine after I rocked it. I am going to put it up on jackstands, either the front 2 wheels or all 4, depends on how lazy I am today. And I may just beat on that lever a bit, anyone know which way it is supposed to go?
-
My turbo timer has a vac/boost guage built in, when I push the button in, it drops vaccum and then regains it, when I pop it out, nothing happens. Its a 5 speed manual pushbutton four wheel drive. If it doesnt have a center diff, how does it transfer power to the rear wheels, and also why does it create torque bind if its not locked up, if I dont have a locked center diff wouldnt my car be like my bro in laws 2.5 RS? (minus the viscous this and that in the diffs) (and also a whole hell of a lot slower) As for the breaking the tires loose I did that plenty in my alley, plenty. Also I think I found the little lever, its passenger side near middle to rear of the trans, but I cant move it, its at a bad angle so I cant get any leverage on it with my arms... why does my car hate me? Although it does launch really really well now so we better get this figured out before I have catastrophic falure.
-
Its pushbutton manual. Its thoroughly stuck. I have to drive it really gingerly for fear that my trans will break, I will try to take it in the back alley but if that doesnt work, does anyone know where the actuall mechanism that engages or disengages the 4wd? I am assuming that it locks the center diff so I will look in that area, but I have no jack at my moms house so I need to drive all the way to my dads to lift this thing. I have driven over 20 miles with it like this and it still wont pop out, its definately stuck.
-
Ok, my GL-10's pushbutton 4wd is stuck in 4wd. I see that there is some lever that I am supposed to pull up by hand but, where is this lever exactly? Thanks alot.

Yeah, the unthreaded studs are called shoulderd studs, there much much stronger. let us know when you get her fixed.

Check and see if your Fuel Fill cap is on tight, and sealing, this is the most common and first place to check when you get an evap system problem. -
You only had to pay 50 bucks a wheel?
-
yeah I know what you mean, sorry I was totaly thinking 5 lugs for the EJ's
-
You can just buy the copies, there just as good although sometimes a wee bit heavier, and theyre alot cheaper, they might not come in the color that the rays do. If I do a 5 lug i may look into some enkei's (look into, probably never buy)
-
My pugs are beautiful... :-p I dont think some of us want to go through the work, if not hard at all, to change the lugs around. If anything I would go with the 5 lug, ej brakes, suspension, ect.

Debate: mpfi vs carbi in ej'ed older vehicles
beataru replied to Yo'J's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
If you use an ej intake manifold with a carb the fuel is going to pool up because it was not designed to be a wet manifold. now if that matters to you then its bad, it will work but, I wouldnt do it. -
My brother in law aka, merkatroid, had them do up his ej-25 dohc cams. His are a bit lifty though, way too much for the ea-82.
