why are ram engines prices so rediculous? I mean I know I could get Forged pistons, for way less then what they charge, and if I got them coated, they would still cost less than their pistons. I want forged internals, and i wouldnt mind rams name in my mod list but, I am not spending that much on this turd.

What does this sound like?
beataru replied to Subaru_dude's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
it sounds to me like lifter noise, allbeit very loud lifter noise. Rod nock is deeper, and it would be fairly fast, Remember cams spin at half the speed the crank does. I wasnt in your garage so I cant really tell you what to expect exactly, hows the oil look? and whats the pressure, that would be a start. -

is the charge at 12.0 volts? because nominal battery voltage is 12.65 -
Thanks for the compliment...... but whatever, as I also stated above, people dont realize that they can screw up threads with even a little bit of leverage, but I understand I didnt spell it out for you that I generally know what i speak of or else i wouldnt post! Edit: What did I ever do to deserve this kinda crap, all I did was say you dont really need a torque wrench to do this... honestly some people.

Just relaying your headlight circuit will brighten your lights quite a bit.

?????Normal Operating Temp's ??????????????
beataru replied to NuclearBacon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
yeah seriously... um, the water on the upper hose will always be hotter than the bottom, thats why they generally will deteriorate faster than the bottom one, under normal circumstances the temperature of our thermostat stock i belive is 195 or is it hotter... I cant remember. -
if you use a 1/4" drive ratchet, you shouldnt overtighten it on accident, just remember to start the bolts by hand, people dont realize that even with a little bit of leverage you can screw up threads real quick...

GL hard to start when cold
beataru replied to CornerHard's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I doubt this will work, but when a car sits for a long time, sometimes the rings stop sealing, the solution to this is to squirt oil into the cylinder. I dont know if this will solve the issue, but that should give you some compression for a little bit. Have you ran a compression test? -

the weight of oil should no longer be a problem, hard starting was caused by single viscosity oils back in the past, but todays multiviscosity oils should help that out just fine, although if your using a heavy weight, say 20 or 30w (which means winter, not weight) there could be some trouble... -
dare i say diamond edition!?!?!?!?! PICS
beataru replied to subaruguru's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Im still trying to get over the fact that subaru actually made one of these things to be called a diamond edition. LoL this is hillarious, I want platinum edition. And that spoiler is definately FTL -
Do a search for em on ebay, there will allways be a few on there. Seriously, this is bad new if its making this sound. Give us a dyno sheet when you put the new used one on

heh heh, of course radio shack guys dont know their stuff! some of them do but, they dont want to help you hunt down a little bulb. Just walk in there, either with a old bulb or just look up the picture i posted and remember it, and when they ask if you need help say no thanks, or whatever, and go back to their bulb box (it has fuses, LEDs, Mini rocker switches, ect. its in a pull out cabinet. and start opening and going to town. If i remember right, i got one that is 1 size too small i think. But its still going. Now if only i could find the other side bulb holder, than it would be really bright. oh the pictures are in my photobucket account, its beataru (duh) lol.
