  1. I would choose the TD04L because back when my car ran perfect, Russ said "it spools just as fast as the stock turbo" and if thats true then It pulls way harder than the stock. that was back when it was running well, EA-82s dont push too much exhaust gas, and the turbos header design is TERRIBLE to say the least. I bet that if you built a custom header, ran the LH pipe into a 2way collector where it joins with the RH and it was fairly smooth, it could push that TD05 it might be slow in first but I think lag is fun in FAST cars.
  2. It does sound like a fuel problem, I remember last year at my vocational tech school (EVIT) my instructor had a guy come in with a GMC Sierra and he said that when He comes back to it after it has sit for like 15 mins or something, that it takes just a little bit longer for it to start, my instuctor said it was the checkvalve on the regulator and he was right, Im not familier with the 1.8s but this toatally sounds like fuel pressure is bleeding...
  3. Wow I was going to say that my bro in law said that he tried to rebuild his carb in his Dodge Dart and said he could never get the stupid thing to run right since so he got mad at it and bought a new one

  8. Now youve done it, Your going to go out there and drive it and a wheel is going to fly off
  9. Yeah mine is well, how do I say this, A bit more integrated with the car.... But yours is way bigger! that sounds a bit wierd
  10. glad we could help, I wish I could have helped Those magnas are nice stuff!
  11. NO SCOOBIES??? WHAT IS A RALLY WITHOUT A LEGACY TURBO IN IT???? man those new punk kids.... (were they young?) if I was in that I would either build up a legacy sport or a 510... yeah I know an newer series would be better but I like that oldschool spanking factor...
  12. yes, small 4cyls like ours really like the higher rpms, thats where they are most efficient, i mean, if you are in 4th and at 2000 downshift because your engine HATES YOU!!! :-p
  13. 90/92???????????????? Were talking america here, 98 rallyblue w/gold wheels, and an ej257 with radical cams and shimoverbuckets and Bryancrower valvesprings w/titanium retainers, and CP pistons and a hugemongous turbocharger.... that will only get bigger soon... lookie here http://www.ultimatesubaru.org/forum/showthread.php?t=77344 wow I didnt think I could even rememer that much, its not even my car.......
  14. oh man, when mine blows I am so coming up to cali again!!! I will find you
  15. STIs are very fast but there not crazy fast, yes it would be possible to make it as fast as an STI, and I am pretty sure that the 2.5xt is intercooled right? I mean I though my car was the only one that they decided to go dumb on and not put a cooler. also Im not exactly sure but I think that the xt has a tdo4 not a VF so.... please new school guys correct me if I am wrong, I dont have a new school subaru but I know about most of the 90 through 2004 type stuff(then I lost interest)
  16. HOLY CRAP I HAVE NEVER SEEN SOMEONE POST IN THIS!!!!! well, I know people love to do WRX swaps, and some have done Ej257 swaps, so it is definatly possible, but then again, it may be difficult.
  17. Heh, I dont know what I was saying, V-mounted is when you have say a Radiator and an Intercooler, Both use air to cool, and instead of putting them one on top of theother, you mount them in a V just draw a V horizontally and youll see what I mean, this is so that each gets its own supply of fresh air... sorry I was just making nonsense about a Vmounted Intake, but, maybe with some sheetmetal you could slope it somehow so that the water hits it and then roles off, idk, but a little water wont hurt anything at all, but you dont want to hydrolock so.....
  18. How Dirty are the connectings, Voltage is pressure and if you have a very poor connection some where it very well might not be getting enough voltage through it, I dont think it could be a fuse because it is getting 5volts, and a relay has to be working because again it is getting voltage, just not enough. so Check for pinched wireing or loose connections along the wire.
  19. Your not going to keep out the rain if you are sucking in air though it, why not make your intake V-mounted.... Yeah I dont know how it would work either but, mabey if you were a genious then mabey it would work(if you dont know what v-mounted is... well then just say so and I will tell you)
  20. Well, after making fun in another thread just now, I wondered if anyone has converted there EA-series to Drysump Lubrication... because if we were ever to dump a whole buncho money into one of these and make it rev to the moon we might as well have it oiled well.
  21. just forget about the pan and convert it to dry sump
  22. I would buy an optima or an interstate, Interstates bake a damn fine battery for there technology, Optimas are tuffer but heavier than... uh something heavy? I have never heard of a problem with an interstate or an optima going bad too soon, also MAKE SURE your battery is secured, I am what you would call a "mechanic in training" and I have learned that Battery life can diminish severely if they are not held down well.... thats just my two cents, and thats probably all its worth
