  1. Saw that too! The funny part is your hatch is still taller than me. And the one to the right is much taller than my wife.
  2. How bad is the frame on that brat? Could you get some pics of it?
  3. Its not broken. In a dsm everything is just a little slower
  4. vf11 is usdm turbo legacy. wrx's use a mitsubishi made td04
  5. I know... His car throws a code when going down the highway because of a 5mt swap in a 93 T wagon. he said that in another post.
  6. Ok is that not clear.... 4wd ea81 axles plus ea82t 25 spline doj works 2wd ea81 axles plus ej22 legacy 25 spline doj works 2wd ea81 axles plus ea82t 25 spline doj does not work 4wd ea81 axles plus ej22 legacy 25 spline doj does not work DO A SEARCH. I know I asked this same stuff a month ago... And who said anything about the rears. The rear spline size is the same on all r160 diff's found in subaru's till they changed to the slide in style in middle 90's.
  7. Hell if there isn't something catastropicly wrong with it at the time for the 4th timing belt, why not keep it for 5?
  8. Oh yes... It can be done. I did it when I was 14. Picked up an ea81 and threw it, no accessories on motor. But just be on the safe side man, buy or borrow a hoist. What's $300 for a good one when compaired to a life with a bad back?
  9. I've done both. Neither seems to be a big problem. Except on distributored cars. I have no luck with washing a dizzy motor at all. You could use some gunk or other brand engine detailer and a garden hose at home, not high pressure so it wouldn't be a big consern around the air box and such
  10. The favorite all time subie in my book never made it to production. Anywhere that I'm aware of. Only place I've seen it was in a motor trend back in 94-95. It was at the tokyo auto salon, 94 Subaru Suiren. Picture the gen 2 legacy and gen 2 brat having a secret love child....
  11. I wonder how that guy feels being shorter than a subaru...
  12. Well if the 4wd shafts and ea 25 splines work together perfect then the 2wd shafts will not. For the 2wd shaft you need legacy 25 spline doj cups. But the shafts are the exact same length. The process only takes about half an hour for each if you take your time. If your car is 4wd just figure that time into doing the swap and don't worry about having the axles done beforehand
  13. Well if it is wired to think its always in park, his reason makes sense to me. The only way it wouldn't be workin, the AWD, would be mechanical failure. And that is something obd1 doesn't monitor
  14. Not entirely true. Lightening the driveline reduces the rotating mass. Less rotating mass means it makes better use of what it has. You'll still make the same power it just won't be taking as much to spin the acc. stuff. Also look into a lighter flywheel and lighter wheels.
  15. Its all good. Are you having problems with the AWD or just curious?
  16. Wet grass or gravel. And make it spin. BTW, 95 legacy turbo?
  17. This should really be in the older gen forum, or retrofitting. To be quite honest the most reliable most powerful and cheapest motor to maintain that you can put into your loyale is to ej22. There are people on here that are getting good stuff from the ea82T but that would actually be more work and less reliable than an ej swap. And not to mention you'd still be down on power, and have the dumb two timing belt design, and head gasket issues. Depending on how much money you have to play with. You can go the ej20g route. They are selling for about 800-1000 these days and worth every penny.
  18. I was looking at that the other day on mine. One of the big whites looks to go to the fuse box for chassis electrical and the other looked like it went to all the crap for the legacy a/c system. Not sure on the yellow's function, but after I cut out the a/c relays and stuff it went nowhere
  19. I would think they should be the same between mt and at. all the axles list the same in the parts computers beween subie mt and at
  20. I'm in Tazewell. Never heard of it, probably not... Its about two hours or so away From Roanoke VA. Near the WV line. IIRC I'm about 5.5-6 hours from Fairfax
  21. Well I have open access to metal at work. We, well they, build gooseneck trailors and flat beds, I paint them. If you can get the pics that would be great.
  22. Were the channels a custom job? If not where did they come from.
  23. A small car lot nearby has two brats. One is a red 85 no jump seats but has headrests and seat frame. Small rust spots on the rear fenders but nothing life threatening. (I crawled completely under it and looked around) with iirc 144k. Factory non bumper(1st one I've seen in person btw) Other is a dark blue 86 all bed chrome intact with the pop things for the tonnue cover option but no cover. 12xk on the clock. Dented up d/s door missing trim on whole d/s. About the same rust as the 85 and passed the climb under test as well I talked to one of the employee's and they said NOT FOR SALE. But the owner of the lot told me $1400 on two seperate occasions for either one. I hate that it comes to me considering another Brat, but while messing underneath mine for the ej22 swap I was not happy at all with what I found... We'll leave it at that because I am still very upset that my baby is probably not road worthy anymore... So with research in my head and these two sitting down there smiling at me, I'm thinking of offering the lot owner $1000 for either one, and will have cash in hand monday when I get the rest of the money from selling a honda car. All the ej work will be quickly transfered over when its completely ready to run. Help me please. If he doesn't take it anybody semi local have a decent Brat they'd sell?
  24. I hope its not just for the sake of saving you some money on swapping another motor into it. But if it's dead and the heads are in decend shape just hit me a pm whenever.
