(ej the loyale) but then you don't get any cash. it all boils down to what you need out of it. if you can't leave anything stock I imagine selling both for an impreza would give you something rewarding to tinker with. lots of after market body exhaust and wing crap to buy. honestly if I didn't love the unique-ness of the XT so much I would trade up to something faster and more easily tuned. (03 yellow WRX or 01 white/grey 2.5 RS) do you need money for bills? if you do then absolutely sell a car.

usually not. two of the more common SVX mods are to bypass the throttle body coolant line and to add phenolic spacers. which both are done to keep the incoming air cool. (the spacers also effectively shift the powerband much like what would happen when you lengthen the intake runners.) I imagine if no nobody had tried it then it's for coolant flow reasons Edit: after looking at my haynes I realize that there its a throttle body coolant line to bypass. (won't need a pre-warmed tb here in Bama... )

wow glad I read this I was about to order felpro intake gaskets... how are the intake gaskets made by Victor? also what about blocking the cross over? wouldn't coolant still get to the other side via head passages? sorry random thought, but a lot of the time bypassing the intake manifold's coolant lines is a first performance mod. I'm sure that since no one is doing it there's a good reason.

Haha! I had an invader style cf hood on my ford zx2 (my actual photo) And I had a sound activated light in the opening. It would glow when I revved. In my defence, I was 24, and I worked in the stage lighting business.

which is why the tank/sender/gauge being fixed was my first suggestion. if I came off as a jerk, I apologize. but not knowing how much gas you have almost always eventually leads to running out. which is bad with an old fuel system.

I suggest fixing the gauge, then adding some gas.

i may have found a good start via a friend/board member who isn't too far away from here. it would mean not having the luxury of labeling it as I pulled it. but I will get it together i'm sure. I had a dream that I found an H6 outback in the pullapart and it had a crushed roof so I figured it would run, and I swapped that in... Dreams rock...

that's waht gaskets do man! they make up for the surfaces not being flush with each other. I can see you got it good and clean. get the intake side that clean and you'll be golden!

I have done it to other motors and the gains were small if any I have seen 5 HP gained on a dyno from just cam gears. this was a Zetec Focus engine. (not mine, car had a full range of bolt ons and igniton mods) I had gears on my Escort zx2. but I never got to mess with them much. the Escort 4 door I had, had a SOHC and I may have gotten the powerband moved to a better place for the 4 speed auto. but it still wasn't anything to write home about. (both cars had intake/exhast/homebrew ECU tuning) don't get me wrong. I am going to do this myself. but I don't expect much. :edit: some times cams on one car are more "on" than in other cars. some cars may already have the lobes so perfectly in the sweet spot that this mod could hurt performance...

I have nothing bought at this point. I don't know if I'll buy a wrecked car or go to a junkyard and pull a harness or buy it off the board... but yes, if I pull it myself I will label it as I go. thanks!

you won't notice much from this without an upgraded cam. not on a little 4-banger. it can make intakes and exhaust upgrades a bit more efficient if you put the time in to tune it.
