I just did a hitachi modification...
carfreak85 replied to lepetitprince's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Dan just doesn't have the calibrated butt that I do. I drove it and I could tell the difference. Up to a point you don't feel anything, but after a point, you can feel and hear the difference in power. The downside is that when you get to the secondary, the pedal sticks and you have to push past the stickiness to get to the power. Does that make sense? -

Weber question: DGEV vs. DGAV

I think the pros and cons of the DGEV vs. the DGAV are what Dan is looking for. -
Who owned the powder blue '78 Brat?
carfreak85 replied to edrach's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Dan might be looking for a welded diff. Ben might want to get a front section made for his brat, but for now, the stuff will sit... -

Idea for a Subie Support Network

I think that most veteran members have a decent list of phone numbers, so if you don't have person A's number but you have person B's, then you'll probably be able to get in touch with someone who does! -

engine turns once to spin the wheels 3.9 times. -
I've stumbled across an early EA81 4WD wagon. I know its an 80 or an 81, but since I don't have the VIN in front of me, I can't decode it. What are some things I can look for to tell the difference between the two years?

I'm down for a header and a downpipe.

How to remove brat side steps
carfreak85 replied to carfreak85's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
That is precisley what I was taslking about. Got pics of the removal? -
I know that one side si removed by 4 screws (passenger's side I think. the one with the step), but the other (Driver's side?) doesn't have the same screws. I want to put the step on both sides of a brat. This is on an 82 if that makes any difference.

RAM Performance (140hp N/A EA81)
carfreak85 replied to BoneCake's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Thats why Ram heads are about half as much as SUB4 heads. They are way easier to make! -
Life time warrenty parts are cheaper because they are lesser quality than 3 month warrenty parts. The companys hope that most people will buy the cheaper, longer warrenty parts so they make those parts crappier so they can afford to replace those parts when they are returned.

I've heard of them. My only concern besides price would be that aircraft engines only need power at a constasnt rpm, so they don't necesisarily need the low rpm grunt that cars do. Just some food for thought! -
Subarubrat is running dual shocks on his brat. Go to his web page and check out how he did it.
