http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=66482&item=7919843748&rd=1 Is that a SUBARU??? I always tell my friends that subarus are the one import that can't be riced out, but I stand corrected! Oh, why did they have to become so popular?

Ok kiddies, I pulled my hatch out of the mud after sitting for nine days. Lets start at the beginning. I had just passed emissions and lepetitprince and I deceided to celebrate by doing a little 4X4ing. So I found this little hobbit trail and went up it! The car preformed flawlessly off road until it began to overheat (New problem, haven't figured it out yet.) So I shut it off to let it cool down, but when I tried to restart it I got nothing. So I called a buddy of mine with a lited 'yota (35" MTs, lockers, dual-stick Atlas TC, big fatty lift) to pull me out so I could go home. Lee, the guy with the truck gets to where I am only for me to find out that his winch doesn't work and on his way up the trail he got stuck before he even got to me! Granted it had been raining, but still... So I left him with my come-along because I had to go get my rebuilt engine. I had known that he was going out of town for a week but I figured that the yota guy would drop the winch by my house or something but after calling around I found out that nobody could find my winch. Finally got it back and the car is home, safe and sound! Really deep mud was a major factor in getting stuck as was the fact that I drove over a hidden root that was infront of an invisible sink hole. The trans likes to stick in 4th if you fudge going into reverse and caused me to bend the shifter mechanism, toast the clutch trying to roll forward in 4th and 4 low and messed up throttle cable or carb linkage for some strange reason. Plus a bunch of kids paintballed the car and left stupid oily marks ALL over the car that I need to clean off. Pics are here: http://usmb.net/gallery/SICK%2C-SICK%2C-SICK-HATCH%21%21%21?page=1

carfreak85 replied to baccaruda's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I have pics of a black brat with a rear swaybar some where. Not Kern's though. -
Yeah, the outside wheel turns faster.

Just thought I'd let everyone know that Dan, (Lepetitprince) is heading to school in Michigan today. However due to some problems with his car, he won't be taking his brat. Dan, have fun and don't forget to jump on the board once in a while!

That is sick like pneumonia! Eric, where's a good place around here to get swampers cheap?

Well, I'm going to the Dave Matthews concert at the Gorge, and I'll be staying over night Sunday, so that rules me out! Dang, and I need to get some 4x4 time in with other ru's after I get my hatch out of the mud! -

Well, I removed the alternator and I didn't see anything that the cable can ground to. Here's what I see: http://usmb.net/gallery/album215/IMG_0773?full=1 http://usmb.net/gallery/album215/IMG_0774?full=1 http://usmb.net/gallery/album215/IMG_0777?full=1 -
I haven't had any problems with the kit that came on my hatch. (I didn't install it however). It has held up much better than my hatch its self!

If anyone can give me a lead to a sedan that has a good body (Mechanical parts can be crap) that is for sale, I'd be greatful!

Hey, I didn't need to know where it went yesterday, because I wasn't that far along installing my engine! Do you still have that turbo throttle cable? -
Dumb question, but where does the ground side of the negitive battery cable mount on an EA81T? Pics would help!
-
You might look for superchargers that were originally installed on small cars or used ones for british cars like MGBs and Midgets, etc.
-
Thats pretty cool!

I didn't have all the recovery gear with me at first, but eventually I did. THe stupid thing was that if it had started when I needed it to, I could have driven right out, but the terrain just kept getting worse as the day went on. Might as well have exploded though! Went back to see if the yota got out and sure enough, its gone!
-
Well, I'd like to see some older than that, but that's still pretty damn cool!
-
Long story short, the hatch died while offroading and I couldn't get it restarted before it began raining. It is now stuck in mud and I have to leave it in an area it shouldn't be until things dry out a bit. Oh, and the truck that came to pull me out (huge lifted yota with lockers, etc) got stuck too, so that proves how powerful subes are off road! The shop rebuilding my engine decided to charge me $400 more than they first said. I need to install this engine for the show. The hatch finally passed emissions, but now has an overheating problem. I was wet and muddy all day. I'm a saaaaad panda.

I think that an XT6 TB will work, might only work on a spider manifold, but I know that people swap them on. -
how can you tell if you have hydro lifters?

Pics please! -
So I figured that the engine out of my turbo wagon had a knocking rod, but it turns out that not enough locktite was used on the flywheel bolts. DOH! The heads were sent off to get redone already, but that can't hurt anything, and the flywheel needed resurfacing anyway, so new heads on my *non-rod-knock* block will be thrown into my wagon tomorrow afternoon and dialed in on Thursday. Hopfully this will allow me to drive the wagon to the show this Friday! Thanks to Brian and Steve at Brian's Subaru Clinic for their help.
