I have the very same issue (as well as a few others!). I am going to pop my new (used from a board member-$25!) alt in this afternoon when I put a pin on my crank pully. It spun off twice yesterday:dead:

Quick crank pulley question
Milemaker13 replied to leone's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
So you think my pully may be w/o a pin hole? Like, if I wanted to install a pin I would need to drill a hole in the pully? That could be done w/o much trouble... Dan, I'll grab that pully when I come up. How about sunday morning? -
Quick crank pulley question

Diggin up the dead here! My pully unbolted itself twice yesterday, no pin ya know... It was the A/C- spun it right off! I was going to see about putting a pin, but I guess those nice fellows at Fuji already thought of that... So if I look at it again, I should see a hole for a pin? Sounds great! Anybody know what size that pin should be? Thanks!! It'll be nice to run the A/C again!!!! -
I'm gonna go ahead and say a dolly is no problem. I am interested in how well it would do on a tow bar. I have towed other stuff like pickups w/ a tow bar and it went very well. It is a very nice convience to be able to pop on a bar and drag it behind another car instead of driving two! I'll let you all know how it does towed flat four. Thanks!

I want to pick up a truck in Iowa, and I'm thinking that if I get a car dolly I can just put the loyale on it and tow it home w/ the truck. Otherwise I need her to come with and drive her car back, that sucks- driving alone! So I want to know if it is ok to tow a loyale on a dolly w/ the rear wheels on the ground. That is basically how it drives all the time in 2wd, dragging the rears around, right? What about a tow bar w/ 4 on the ground (alot of searched threads are very confusing, mostly dealing w/ Legacys & AWD)

Yeah, Sorry we didn't make it- We had a little trouble with the law on our way out. Still sorting that out. We'll make it next year! Hope you guys had some fun anyway! -
Hey Gang, I searched for some info, but its so hard to wade thru sometimes. Now that its summer again, I'm sure this thread will get some use. I just yesterday recharged my AC w/ 134a. Added some "special oil" and about a can and a half of 134. The sight glass is clear now, no bubbles- and the AC cranks COLD. Its works great. But it will now work on its own. I put everything in "AC" but no compressor. I hot wired the compressor and it works really well. (Last summer I tried the same thing, but it never got cold) So any ideas on why the system won't work by itself? And the locations of any switches to check... I assume its a switch issue. My underhood fuse is good, and I checked the relay like my haynes manual says- its good too. What next? If nothing else, I'm going to put a switch on the compressor clutch in the cabin so I can flip it on and off (for like pulling out into traffic) Thanks everyone- Its gonna be a cool summer.

Gee Gloyale, you seem to know alot about glass! -
WOMEN!!! Can't live with 'em... Can't kick 'em out on the side of the road:lol: I went to my prom w/ my lesbian friend:confused: It wasn't the most fun ever:dead:

Best of both worlds..... Hmmm. Me and Gloyale are thinking about trying to combine a D/R from an (87?)coupe w/ a push button style tranny using the vac. to engage 4x4, and the 2 stick mod to engage low range. If it works out, my loyale will be a pushbutton D/R. We both like the ease of the pushbutton, as we drive mostly snowy highways n' such. SPFI reliable! I actually like the passive restraint system ('round here at least) because it keeps me from getting seatbelt tickets. 'Round here, they'll stop ya for not wearing one now, and who knows what other trouble that little hassle can lead to!

Are ebay timing belts any good?
Milemaker13 replied to glfarnes's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
My pci kit came complete. Idler pully, tensioners w/ springs and ,of course, 2 belts. How did you tension your belts? The spring does your tensioning, then you lock the arm in place... Maybe try just jamming it up so the belt feels a little tight, then lock the arm (tighten your bolts down). That may work til you get your ebay kit Hey, I like your handle "Crown Loyale". Sweet! -

I bought the PCI kit from ebay. Actually, my subi belts were in great shape so I never installed them yet. I regreased my old pullys, worked well. I take the PCI kit with me on long trips. $200 is alot ain't it! They gave me the same jive. Probably no better quality than the PCI. Correct- DuraLAST would be my LAST choice. And goodyear's cheaper line is not any better. -
My loyale sat for like 4 yrs before I got it. Ran fine. I see no problem driving that car home. Maybe take it easy, at least at first. Also, I'd change the oil before hitting the road, definatly. Just bring the stuff w you, or I guess stop at Jiffy Lube(although in my opinion, thats more of a risk than just driving it home-JIFFY LUBE SUCKS!!!) Make sure you check their work, especially the oil filter. How much did you give for the car? Just curious!

Hey, I got an idea! Just keep (or get) a manual trans:Flame:

quick seafoam question
Milemaker13 replied to Centrifugal's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Read the bottle... It says what to do. 1/3 in the gas, 1/3 in the oil, 1/3 in the intake. Pour seafoam into your intake until the car stalls out. Wait like 5 minutes, then restart. Crazy smoke. Drive it a bit, feel any differance?
