  That she'll do. Rust bucket or not, grab it up. Lots of rust? Lowball him and walk... you can always tuck your tail and pony up the $800 1/2 hour later... Post the mileage when you find out -
Poll- best subaru colors
Milemaker13 replied to Gloyale's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
What about that faded yellow color on the 80s wagons? Perhaps not the flashiest, but it sure does bring back memories of Mom's soob. I think my first soob (the one I cut up to make a "dune buggy"-stupid kids!) was also that color. I like that brown too. -
I remember towing a old CB750 on a little trailer... it was a little difficult around 55. I do tow that rowboat around all the time now, with the regular push button 5 speed. I don't even know its there. I guess it would be useful to move a heavy trailer on pavement, when 4wd would not like being engaged, but low gear would be helpful. Heck, anytime you need more precise low speed control on pavement. My 1st is not very low now. Any body know what ratio it is? 92 loyale pushbutton 5 speed

Wow, $2200 for an 82 2wd coupe. What work was done for the 5 gs?
-
I have heard of doing the 2 lever mod w/ a DR tranny. I also heard someone talking about driving in 2wd in low. Do you think this causes any damage? Would it be helpful to run the RX style 1.2 LOW range and using the 2 stick mod, engage low to tow a trailer thats a little too heavy for the soob? Or even the "real" 1.6 DR? Just thought I 'd start a discussion on the topic... What do YOU think?

AWESOME! THANK YOU!!! Here is the 92 Loyale. 126k, pushbutton 5 speed. My daily driver and tractor of sorts. Mainly stock, hoping to swap in a DR tranny someday soon. Best car for fishin' EVER!

2.7- Alot of people have compared it to various chems. Search the internet and posts here to find an alternative. Marvil mystery oil is another brand name of similar stuff. I think. -

is that timing belt idler pulley important?
Milemaker13 replied to zyewdall's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Have you all read the threads on re-greasing the idler & tensioner bearings? I did it, worked well...124K and still smooth! Just stick one of those grease hypo- needles under the seal and squirt just enuff to grease em up. -

Wow! Thats a pretty big lake! Too bad the soob just doesn't have the grunt to pull the big boat! I will have to get the evinrude running before then I guess (or end up with arms look like popeye!). BOATING INFO: There is a ramp right at our campground, $3 day fee. Not bad... -
You guys can delete this one, thanks!

Count me and Mary in! Definatly! We'll be camping both nights I hope. I will get reservation ASAP at the campground. I'll let you know when it is done, so you can add us to the "Definatly comming" list. Oh, I will be bringing my rowboat and possibley the old Evinrude (if I fix it in time!). I'll look into boat fees and post it up. COOL! -
Pointers on swapping D/R into a Loyale.
Milemaker13 replied to Milemaker13's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Actually, I did not... I know my car has an 82 ! So this parts mobile is actually a 87 GL coupe, not a wagon... It should still be the 1.59 gear ration in low, right? Dan looked it up, the book says it should be. It is carbed, no turbo. -
Camping/fishing EA82 wagon. ideas???
Milemaker13 replied to misledxcracker's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I am a fan of tent camping... but that is not crashing out late at night because you don't wanna drive. Thats different. I had one of those 4'x4' red menards trailers that I built a box and on the front was a mini kitchin w/ sink, paper towl holder ect. Worked great for us while we were running around seeing phish shows and such. But thats a trailer to pull. I suggest a "box" in the rear that you can stand and use your sink with the hatch open, whatever. But have it easilly lifted out, put it outside, and go to sleep. But really, what would be most economical and practical is just pack your bedroll and propane stove in the back and say fuggit! Pull your drunk rump roast in the back and crash out, make you breakfast on your propane stove! Good Morning SunShine! -

91 subaru loyale won't start
Milemaker13 replied to rorannerusan's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Dude C'mon.... Did you tune up the car yet? Never told us if it was running before, or if you just got it. Did you tow it home? Maybe you need more than 2 gallons in the tank... try 6 or 8 gallons. And swap that cap & rotor, a little damp morning killed mine. Popped a new cap on, BAM! I'm on my way to work. -
An idea I had a while ago, similar to this- and as long as we're just brainstormin- was to swap the A/C Compressor for an AC Generator... It would be useful in the field, pull up leavin the car run(maybe have a hand throttle somewhere). Push the AC button on the dash to engage the electric clutch and plug you tools in. Sounds good to me, but how (and when!) to do it all....

OK, me & Gloyale are looking to split a parts car w/ the dual ranger in it. It is an 87 GL wagon. 5mt dual range, carbed. That sounds correct to everybody out there, right? It won't have the N switch, but fuggit right? And it is an EA82 car/engine/trans? I don't know when they stopped the 81s. So, it sounds like it should have the 1.59 gear ratio, right? If anyone thinks differently, PLEASE CHIME IN! I'd love to know about my mistakes before I make them
