  1. To be clear this happened with the v-belt removed (absolutely dead water pump). And I may have exaggerated when I said water 'shot out' of the radiator, it more just kind of oozed up and out. The real point was that I expected ABSOLUTELY NO action in the coolant due to no water pump. I think GD has pretty well answered the question but I am open to denial if someone wants to offer an alternative explanation. Da Nile aint just a river in Africa ya know I will begin parts procurement Chris
  2. sigh oh well, it was really just a matter of time. The geyser was not hight at all, just enough to push it out of the rad, maybe 2"-3" THx GD. hey chris, sold that motor yet?? and yes I could use a hand but ive never done the head gasket (hope its not cracked), how long you think it will take? I have to go see my Bro grad from college this weekend tho
  3. Shh shhhhh for gods sake be quiet! I hear these things hardly ever blow head gaskets Yea it has gotten warm 2 times now but not overheated (I hope??) The guage just went higher than It does during normal driving. I am hoping for the turbo story
  4. OK I have a question about radiator pressure/flow. Heres how I came to have such a question. For reasons I won't get into here/now I had the rad cap off the RX and the v-belt was removed. I started the car and let it run just a few revs (very few, I'm a dumdum but not an idiot). Much to my surprise water shot up out of the radiator. Now I says to myself I says "Maybel, the water pump aint turnin' so what in tarnation is pushing that water around?" Can anyone explain this to a small town simpleton?
  5. almost no possibility. Those things are so weak its funny, they barely work 2' from the radio much less from another car. Not only that they would have to know what freq your on. Dont worry about it unless someone is specifically out to get you.....are they?? :-\ I use one all the time, the worst thing about them is that outside radio stations interfere with them so you have to keep changing the channel to find a quiet station(in the city, out in the country no prob)
  6. Call or go to the store NAPA online sux or use carquest
  7. OK oK I've never been to honduras so I'll take your word for it. However, your gonna have to come here to pick up that $20.
  8. dont think the frame has anything to do with it exactly. The sway bar resists one wheel moving up/down opposite the other wheel via torsional (twisting) stiffness. whatever its mounted to to keep it from flopping around is irrelevant.
  9. I would just shift to 4-lo and drive out btw there is and excavator AND a bulldozer in the background, I'd bet a $20 bill that this is a construction site that someone got into, just poor (I.e. NO) traffic control not a pothole.
  10. Wish I coulda made the GG run, looks like fun. Suddenly ran hot on the way to wongleflute's and was half hour late. Replaced the thermostat that night and after that and a new vacuum hose that broke in the process, now all is good. Timing just sucked but I guess kind of ironic
  11. Bring the XT6. Ive always wanted one, but those things are quirky even for a subaru
  12. Woot! It's supposed to snow, maybe we'll get to lock the diffs and shift into low gear!
  13. autozone has always had what I needed : axles, water pump, cap, rotor, oil filter, air filter I had to go to the dealer for the intake manni gaskets what you looking for?
  14. its been talked about before. do a search. The general consensus is they are not strong enough.
  15. OK, at the risk of being branded a sub noob for life and ridiculed and flamed ... I always thought torque steer was due to the tranverse engine mount some cars have. I always thought that the flat symmetrical sub motor would minimize if not eliminate torque steer. I have never driven a fwd subaru so I have NO basis on which to judge other than theory. (the 82 hatch i used to have w/ hi lo had not near enough power to do it in fwd)
  16. yea ... hmmm that rear bumper kind of looks like a tribeca grill.....sub hinting its rear engine ala porsche?
  17. Take it back Take it back !!!! I love my (has same HP as my wifes wagon) Turbo!! is it 4-20 or what??
  18. well, I know that sometimes big rig (log trucks) chain up for mud. How could it NOT help?? At least it will help until the ruts get so deep your chains dont touch the ground
  19. Either location is good for me. Silver lake is closer, but dicks is good. Someone has to photoshop the rust out of my car if its gonna get pics taken  Shes kinda vain that way Any sunday is good, gotta give audio-file time to get his wing back on tho.
