i am going to pick up a set of new rotors for my hatch, but before i put them in i am going to stick them on the brigeport and cross drill the hell out of them. they are solid, and im hoping this will keep them from warping again. does anybody have any reason this would be bad? sould i have them turned afterwards?

88 spfi wagon occationally hunts for idle
archemitis replied to a topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
that thing always did that, even with the other motor. i think its the idle air controll valve sticking. b12 chemtool helps it go away for a while -
my girlfriends idea of a test

the other side of the story would go like this... "why do you always have to rig stuff... why isnt it like anyother car that just works by itself." i say its more fun when you have to hit switches and turn knobs... its more like a cockpit that way -
mine does that with the adjustable shocks cranked. would the wrong shocks do it guys? what about crappy worn to hell ball joints.

give those jeeps and american junk hell mcbrat.

just remember... the gas pedal realy is a gas pedal. especially on a turbo, once you hit boost, the power goes up and the gas being delivered almost doubles! and the motor prolly isnt a spring chicken, might be the way it goes.

she knows about motor installs, she is always on motor mount duty ... thats why i thought she knew... but it was a good lesson for her... after i said "thats the only thing that kills these motors!" a hundred times. but she prolly thinks motors are invincible now:-\ ! i even told her about the old heater on hi trick, and if it gets cold, shut her down, now! i put two hundred miles on it today, and no smoke and no coolant loss. so i think im safe -
Maximum weight in Brat bed
archemitis replied to DPDISXR4Ti's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
my cousin drove up from texas(to minnesota 900 miles) in a brat, and the rear end was sitting on the bump stops the whole way.. a full standup toolbox 400lbs? and everything else he owned. went 85 the whole way, with a 4 speed. dont think you can overload them, once they are on the bumpstops, its all about how good your tires are -
its always:D when you can :temper: then everthing is:banana: especially in a subaru a pic would make it:headbang:

i let my girlfriend drive my hatch today... i said, now dont forget to turn on the fans. i usually only turn it on when im in traffic, but when shes driving it i just tell her to leave them on... you know where im going with this. she forgot about the fan! she said it was in the red for about ten minutes, during traffic. i thought she was toast for sure, because there was no water left in the radiator at all. and im guessing if she said ten it was like 15. needless to say my little hatch is fine as far as i can tell. no head gasket leaks, and oil pressure is still cool... ea81s are tough, if she was in the ea82 with gen 1 heads i woulda been screwed!

dunno... my subaru runs great with no egr. -
lets talk some real numbers here. i think this sounds like a 200 dollar subaru to me. concidering i have never payed more than 450 dollars for midwest subaru, and that includes a brat 450, a 4x ea82wagon gl 200, and a few others around the same price... the mileage, and the rust, and the 2wd are what kills you. but hey... there are pleanty of *******es... i say keep it as backup... old subies are better anyway

The Hatch (with the heart of the Beast) Lives
archemitis replied to harpua's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
5 shy of a stock, no mod ea82t... but that would rock in an ea81. my 4x brat always seemed faster than my new 2x hatch -
My Wagon blew 2 Alt's... Why???

i thought you could only pull the positive... suppose it doesnt matter though -
if i suck on the vaccum line coming off the distributor only, i should be able to get the rotor to move right? and should it bleed down and move withh vacuum still on it, or shoold it stay in the same place as long as vacuum is there

my personal favorite cut off crappy muffler, weld on glasspack, punch cats and never look back! but seriously folks, CHECK RADIATOR for corrosion. #1 killer -
hahaha i would feel wierd to get beat by my mom... i hate it when people think they have someting to prove to me, when im driving a 75 horsepower hatch... 7grand seems pretty excessive, and stupid:-\
