My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
Shipping the shell up here just isn't worth it. I could have bought and shipped a complete, west coast car if I want go through that. This car will be nice once I'm able to put my time into it, I've shown you this, three other times

Indeed.- Look what followed me home! (91 Legacy Build thread)
Word, I will keep an eye open. I know there is an EJ25 for sale on CL for like $450, but who wants to get into an EJ25? lol. Although, I know out at Auto Al's in Franklin, Norm will do $350-$400 for a complete EJ22, might be an option. They have 1 OBD-I EJ22 right now.- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
Lol, I just emailed the dude and asked how he'd feel about cutting out the rockers (Or drilling out the spot welds) and shipping them to Wisconsin. We'll see what he says, perhaps this might be the ticket!- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
I use DeepCreep.- Look what followed me home! (91 Legacy Build thread)
If ya need a hand with the motor swap let me know, I've done a few motor swaps That interior is Flawless! Awesome, for sure.- Tube rockers
No one makes restamping of EA81 panels (Rockers for instance) You can buy EA82 rockers from Mill Supply for $100 shipped like I did and make them work like I am going to. Sure beats trying to make your own.- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
Few more engine shots: Newer Axle: Dealer add-on A/C- that is it. 8)
That looks great.- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
Tomorrow I might have new pictures of progress. I am removing most of the interior and possible carpeting to seal up the floor is there is any surface rust starting, and to clean everything as I always do. I plan on buying some Epoxy paint to seal the floor with in spots along with my Permatex rust destroyer. Stay tuned.- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
+1 At least its something minor (Unlike wiring)- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
I swear to god, this car has no hood release lever! I have looked everywhere inside the car, it is not to be found anywhere. The Hoodlatch had been unbolted by the P.O and is locked into the Locking Mechanism on the Rad support WTF? I need to remove the grill get this thing out and possibly bolt it back to the hood after I find an release cable. Either way, if anyone have a complete Hood latch assy with cable ect, I need it. PM me.- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
Thank you for the clarification, guess I shouldn't look at this as if it were a 80s GM. Good, one less thing to buy. I have bought the following: NGK BPR6ES-11 NGK Wires YEC Cap Bosh Rotor I need to buy: Gear Oils Motor Oil/Genuine Filter Coolant Air Filter Fuel Filter Miles of Vac lines EPMI Axles Valve Cover Gaskets Should I bother running Synthetic Gear oil in the Gearbox? I have a slight/short grind when I shift into 3rd and only 3rd (Getting worn?) The EA81 seems like more of a mess then the EA82, Maybe cause I don't know my way around it yet.- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
Alright, good to know. Guess I will order it. Why is it so hard to find Ignition points for this thing? I've looked at Rockauto, they list nothing, Autopartswarehouse wants $16 for something. Am I wrong about the disty on this thing, does it have electronic ignition? I haven't really looked at the motor yet (Been fixing fuel lines lol)- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
I need to get new radiator, I found this one on Rockauto for $112, its a Duel-Row all metal, but it has fittings for Trans cooling lines, so this is for an Auto? http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/moreinfo.php?pk=272007 I need an MT radiator. Any other sites?- 1984 GL Wagon Fwd Build
Wow, that thing looks great with those wheels- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
Good informational post, I might take you up on the SPFI stuff, I would have it laying around in my basement until the time came. Yes you are right, I want to get the body all buttoned up first, then worry about mechanical mods. As for driving stick, I drove Jon's '96 Brighton once, and picked it up ASAP. After that, I have only driven the '83 GL home, Driving stick comes very naturally, the motions feel normal to me (Oddly)- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
Fox, what Gear ratio did yours have? Mine has a 4spd with 3.900, which doesn't seem to have a short 1st gear at all. I shift it around 3000rpm with about 1/4 throttle to be easy on it, Its quicker then a 3AT EA82 with 27" tires  Although, I like the EA82. I've never had an issue with it.- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
Pictures are very much appreciated, that gives me a good idea on just where to cut and over lap, I'm not looking for a Million dollar job with this car, I main want to fix it nicely, and keep it from getting worse (Since I spend $1,200) on it lol. So yes, with some time, Rockguard, and body filler, it should come out nice. I love Rockguard!!! Fox, I am going to take the same amount as you did with the 3-Door and as I did with my Loyale (Loyale still needs a little work) I think the Ski car will give me a good chance to gain metal fab skills, as I did not want to "Learn" using my EA82. As for the EA81, yes, it is very solid. No ticking at all, and I don't think anyone ever adjusted the Rockers, but surprisingly its very quiet. I really can't wait for the weather to get warmer so I can really start getting into this thing.- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
Good info, thats BS about the rockers though. Just have to make them work.- My '95 Legacy: Trashwagon10
Looks good, I was going to run LEDs in mine at one point.- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
Thanks! Yeah, I think I'm gonna wait till I get them. And for warmer weather lol. This car relit my fire for Subarus!- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
Also, what Carb is on this, and where can I get a rebuild kit and possible Jets?- My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
Is there such a schematic that shows the Spot welds for body panels? Suppose I could wait till the new rockers arrive, and look at them for reference if there is any. I am also on the look out for some 14" or 15" Alloy pugs for this rig, it has 13" wagon wheels now, with newer Kelly tires, but I would like some Pugs, or ever perhaps some type of 14" Subaru wheel. Guess I need to focus on the important things first. What size is the Hard Fuel line? - My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
