  1. Duh, god! See what happens when ya been up since 9am and its now 12:30am. ya start putting out dumb ideas Lol. Ok forget the tac welding thing Lol.. Torxxx, Yes this is a good idea! I noticed the other set of stud holes on the heads when I changed out the y-pipe before. Great idea! Jeff, I would find the proper tap and just chase the new threads just so there is no build up of dirt in the holes so the new studs go in nicely. you prolly knew this. -Tom
  2. Hmm, Well I know JB-Weld will just burn off. I tried to fix my downpipe with it before the new one. it last for like 2 miles and then started to burn. it held somewhat but it won't last. You figure that head gets close to 800 deg F at times. What about cleaning around the hold with evory cloth and then tac the stud in place? 2 tacs should be enough to hold it with out fail. Other then getting a new head I think your SOL. Maybe, this is USMB! Anything is possable Best of luck, -Tom Lemme know what you think of tac welding it in place.
  3. Bill, looking good! What in the sam hell is with the stacks in the bed? HAHAHA! So you have the lift al fabed up, ll you need to do is mount it, Nice bright red huh, cool! I like the tires! ATV maybe? -Tom
  4. Why not, theres a board member (Forgot who) that has a XT called Frankenwedge LOL. -Tom
  5. Yea 3 years later Haha, Damn, this means I need to go back and pull the wiring aswell. OK, thank you for the direct info I should have just pulled it today, but wasn't sure if it was needed. Oh well, I guess you learn Lol. Thank you, -Tom
  6. Nice find with the webpage I soooo need to go back there some time, they had a EA82 with a black interior! and I wanted to pull the RXs grill, I should have spent more time and should hae takin some more tools. I wish I could fix all these Subarus, kinda sad seeing them like this, aww what can we do... -Tom
  7. A little late to dig this post up huh? LOL. I'm sorry I sounded like a little boy back then -Tom
  8. So is the wiring/plug for the GLs maplight already on the Loyale? Cause I snagged a Maplight and wanted to put it in, or do I need to run wiring? Which I have no clue to where? -Tom
  9. I went there today! Its about 20 miles east of Madison right on Highway 12. Its about a 40 mile drive one way from Waukesha to Cambridge. Awesome place. 800+ Subarus, he has about 20 some EA82s one was a White RX coupe (Rotted) a few DLs the rest were GLs, wagons and Sedans. He has 2 or 3 Brats, about 10 EA81s. 9 XTs, a few Justys. and the rest are EJ gens, has a few first gen Legos. Just was in aww as I pulled in. Heres what I saw, He sells Subarus aswell that run and are drivable. I forgot to ask if he had any older subarus that arn't totaly rotted that I can buy. I'll have ot go back soon Amazing place, first time I went to a Junk yard. and it was great! What I picked up was, the cover for the fusable link box, a new 4WD fuse box, two GL map lights (Both light new) ones gray, and ones blue. Anyone need or want the blue one? Lemme know I also for got to pick up the RXs grill, I was gonna remove it and take it but walk away Lol. Damn, I'm sure it will be there next time Also here are the two Maplights -Tom
  10. Lol, I'm trying to stay away from that pattern. -Tom
  11. Hahaha! I remember this thread. Man was I young then, I sounded like a ignorant dork. I'm so happy all you guys have change me since then Gary, awesome! Finaly a picture of the insides. Need to show this to my dad, maybe he'll stop using Fram. WIX or Genuine for me -Tom
  12. I replaced the bulbs in my cheep off-road lights I have on the bumper with Sylvainya Silverstar H3s. 4000k, 55w. They are more white then the stock bulbs that cam with the Baja brand lights. So their cool $40 for two though! Lol. -Tom
  13. Yes try a search, heres a key word that'll show you what you want "Pugs" Also check the "Subarus of the 80s" There is a thread that shows every wheel that is 4x140. -Tom
  14. Damn 5 years ago Lol. I did notice when the girl was filming while you were driving, I cought a glimps of the camera in the mirror and saw it was a VHS camera, I was kinda like, huh? Thats alot of footage, Anyhoo enough rambling. I agree with Brian, if anyone could weld it up, you could. -Tom
  15. I aggree, the 5spd will most likely bolt up, I mean I dout Toyota made two diffrent bolt patterns for the Auto and Manual bell housings. I didn't think about trying to adapt the 1-ton hubs on to the 4WD axle. Hmmm. That would be cool to have a 4WD 1-ton u-haul Toyota! "Move in any weather" Haha. So all in all, what are you keeping off the 4-runner? besides what you listed before. On a side note, where was that Alliance meet you were just at? I like the air intake on trashwagon lol, one guy said it was a turbo Hehe :-p
  16. Those pictures are from MilesFox's writeup on the job. Other detailed writeups can be found at Trashwagon.com -Tom
  17. Now is the U-haul 4WD? If not then the extra holes for the axle may not be on the frame, but I would assume the tranny would be the same, or at least mount up the same, just minus the T-case. I would strip the locked up engine of anything (For extra, side of the road use) Thats my $0.02 -Tom oh and, what engine does the '90 run? I know the '88 Hilux has the 22RE.
  18. Hey thats looks pretty good, I like the roof scoop (Usable?) are you still running the EA82? Make sure you get a video of that puppy with the 2.5" exhaust! -Tom
  19. POR-15 the underside, that will keep it nice for a long long time. its not a sticky tar like undercoating. its like a paint but extreamly durable and made for this reason. also, any rust you do have, apply Rust-oliums "Rest remover" white bottle, can get it at autozone or any parts house. apply two coats and the rust turns black and solid as a rock. I was blown away how well this worked compaired to other Rust eaters. this is the best thing I have used. Will keep that Subaru on the road. -Tom
  20. Boy that RX is on the ground! Does the mid-pipe hit going over speed bumps? you wouldn't have a shot of the whole car huh? Wanna see it -Tom
  21. Wow thats one clean EA82! And now its in IL Lol. well if you start with the proper precautions as soon as possable, you'll be able to keep it that way (Plus hand wax alot and clean the salt off it as much as possable) Welcome to USMB, hope you have a good time here -Tom
  22. The Strut it self should be the same as a 4WD car, I think the spring might be diffent (Unless thats only the rear) but the shock part of the strut will bolt right into the other hub/top hat. -Tom
  23. I guess its better then stalking them to their house Hahaha! Camp out by the car to see who owns it :-p
