CEL is for tha cat, no other codes popped up

hi akll, i have a 96 legacy just replaced the 2.5 motor cel is on cat code with the old motor was getting 23-25 mpg with same code, the new miotor im getting 16-17 mpg, any suggestions?

1996 Outback Wagon, AT sometimes when i turn key I cant press the shift button on side of shifter to get it in gear when I press the brake, also no start the release mechanism is not releasing, any ideas? Thnx

leave door closed unscrew from hinges on bottom 2 screws on each side then release door and 'presto'

take out the glove box youll be looking right at it

OK,I put a 1998 2.5 motor into a 1996 body that had a 2.5 in it, same body style, leg wagon kicked a CEL Map sensor with the original 1996 sensor, also with the one from the 1997 car, the 1997 car had no CEL, the motor was swapped into the '97 car with no CEL I'm puzzled, BTW, same sensor in both cars PLEASE HELP !!!!

does the key turn all the way back to the 'off' position?
