  1. :grin:Well if i saw your Beast at the pump id half to ask questions to:grin:
  2. That anyone in washington drives anything other then a subaru. Im suprised you all dont know eachother. When i was filling up the wifes minivan today a awd legacy pulled up. I thought about strikeing up a convorsation at the pump but my subaru is sittin nice and cozy in the garage. I wonder if washington folk just sit around talking subaru with other subaru people all day long since everyone in that state ownes one.
  3. Ok top 10 things for various reasons. 1 When you do replace a part, you almost always want oem 2 Check Belts, Hoses, Plugs, Wires, Oil, etc etc give it a good lookover. Or if your to lazy to do that some local shops do a used car inspection where they give your vehicle your planning to purchase a good lookover to see what it needs. 3 If its an auto kiss any type of performance goodbye, do a 5speed swap 4 Your going to be asking to either lower it or lift it. Its easier to lift but you can lower but takes more finess. 5 Your going to be asking for wheel and tire upgrades. NO aftermarket support for these babies. Pugs or 5 lug conversion. 6 Things like Tick O Death, or Axel Clicking will become second language. 7 They rust like crazy so be careful and keep a watch out for it. 8 Make sure its 4wd otherwise whats the point. 9 You want to put in a subaru wrx sti motor. yea you can, these cars are like legos. 10 This is a family and you will learn it very shortly. People on here will look out for you and make sure you dont get bumb advise. I dont even go to mechanics anymore i do what i can buy myself. Folks on here will help you, just be respectful and keep it clean. AND FOR GOD SAKES, post some pics:grin:
  4. y does everyone want to lift. Lower, turbo it, make something unique.
  5. I thought i remeber something about a certain side would still allow you to be able to run and drive with just 1 timeing belt. I dont remember if it was the left or right side though.
  6. a good person to look up conversion is numbcuxx or something along those lines. He has done lots of trial and error stuff on his GL wagon. I believe he did alot of engine and suspension conversion along the lines of what you want. I believe he made his awd as well. He is in the retrofitting forum alot. Ben
  7. want some help, im kinda bored over here.
  8. I say do whatever you want to your car reguardless if makes sence or not. I would do 5 speed only because its more fun to drive. Ive had my eye:rolleyes: on this legacy tubo ive been wanting to swap the whole drivetrain into my loyale. But thats a while off. I say do some more searching and see what you come up with.
  9. Id 2nd bad gas. For as long as its probally sitting i might boil out the tank or something to get the crud out of it.
  10. First off, welcome to the USMB. 2nd this guestion probally would better be suited in the new gen section. 3rd. Any free car is a deal. If you could score a gas tank from a junkyard and install it youself you would have a decent running car. There are lots of upgrades you can do to the imprezas which you can find out about in the new gen section. Around here guys take newer gen stuff and gut them out for there ea82 off road rigs. Ben
  11. Id think you would need to take it apart to know the extent. Does it run and drive as it sits.
  12. anyone ever try putting them on the bottom side of the bumper. I know the 6 inch round ones woudl work but how about some 4x6 lights. Ben
  13. most people who get these vehicls and find out about them either want to lift them, or lower them.
  14. so what are you. You an up guy, or a down guy.
  15. Welcome to the Board You can always do a SPFI engine conversion. If you dont want to wait for that other engine, you could always find another one. They can be had for dirt cheep. Ive seen 2 in the parts section go for 150bucks or less. And depending on where you are in the country, you might just get your choice if you visit the local wrecking yard. As long as its not a turbo the lower end of these motors is the same. Just the induction system was changed in 88 to FI for the ea82 stuff.
  16. Yea 69hp. Not alot for turning big ole tires. Hence my question. So dennis WSCC 11
  17. Thats probally the 1st lifted ea vehicle that ive ever seen that looked natural. Nicely done.
  18. Thanks and please keep in mind this is my first one im even thinking of attending. We can tent it right but are there areas to wash up. What is there to do there. I dont know if ill be beatin on my car there but maybe i can pick up some parts or something.
  19. I still havent seen anyone with a date yet. Can anyone else figure out what the cost factor is in a trip like this. How long it usually is. Etc Etc./
  20. How do these do in an offroad situation with the lift and big tires. I only ask because i know the ea71 is very (lacking) in power. Andi think it should be heading to wcss11. Hint Hint
  21. Ok so someone offered to give me a vehicle. Now you say, take it. Well i had a truck sitting around here for a while and it just sat because i didnt have time for it so i sold it. This vehicle needs work. It does run and drive just badly. Its a 1991 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. 4wd High and Low. Now its not practical to drive this because it sucks gas. I mean i think normally it gets 10mpg i think. Now it gets 2. I have worked on this before so i know what it needs. I dont know how trust worthy i am of these goofy 4wd engagement levers, seem to want to jam up or break in my hand. I guess what im asking is that do these make decent wheelers. I can get some larger wheels and tires for it for free and im pretty sure i can fix what is wrong with it. I guess is it worth it to even take this thing and make a wheeler out of it, or should i have the guy just take it to the scrap yard.
  22. You want some company, im game. Now we just need dennis and mick and have iowa REPRESENT:banana: Go Guido Go
