  1. Got A/C? I'll bet your compressor is kicking in (like it's meant to) and bogging your engine *EDIT*__Dangit! beat by a minute!__*/EDIT*
  2. I read about it on a Porsche 914 forum... Seems a lot of progress has been made in the world of adhesives, I guess it works reasonably well, haven't seen too many complaints about it. I'd sure consider it in a non-structural location like the rear wheel wells on my Brat since I don't have access to a welder right now... I agree though, seems kinda strange to "glue" your car together, then again, a lot of planes are "glued" together and they deal with a LOT more stresses than a car does (in regular service)
  3. It's a 3AT if I recall correctly
  4. Tried to find some exhaust manifold gaskets for my '82 Brat last night Autozone can special order them in, O'Reilly Auto has nothing in their catalog, same story with Pepboys... Can I use ones from an EA82 engine? What are my other options? I'm going to call the Dealership today but I'm not holding out hope there!
  5. You can get some tachs that have an inductive pickup that clamps over a plug wire... I've got one in my Brat and it seems to work OK... It's stopped working now because I disconnected the battery and it reset something inside it (it's a digital not analog tach)
  6. Lookin good there Tom! Now you need to sling some Hella 500's up on the front of that puppy and you'll be set!
  7. OC Subiewrench had a line on some through SOA a couple of weeks back... (he's a tech at a dealership so probably has a bit more pull than Joe Public)
  8. You could always pick it up and drive it to the meet
  9. Lid off for the meet it is then! I've got it on there right now simply because I don't have the space to hang it in my garage like I want to! It'll be coming off this weekend so I can pressure wash the bed and get her looking good for this Subie meet. After I strip the bedliner out and work on the the wheel well rot in the bed then I think I'll put the topper back on to protect while I work on getting it all cleaned up... That's a month or so off yet though
  10. I'm taking my '82 Brat to a Subie meet in a couple of weeks, trying to decide whether to leave the topper on or take it off, I'm thinking it looks best with it off... Some of the guys haven't ever seen an older gen subie, one guy told me on another forum "that's the first spare tire I've seen that's designed to be stored under the hood!"
  11. I'm definately going to be there in my Brat, hoping some of the other old gen guys can make it... not sure if Mykingcrab will be in town or out on the road and hyrysc may be busy... We should try and score a couple of parking spots side by side for the old gens
  12. The biggest downfall of the TR series of cars was that moron Lucas and his bass ackwards electronics!
  13. I'm heading to a meet organized by the fella's across on STLSubaru.com... The meet is on Saturday the 29th Lou Fusz Subaru/Mazda 1025 N Lindbergh Blvd Creve Coeur, Mo 63132 Check out the thread here and sign up if you're interested in going... I think that Moodybluesr is going to be there and maybe some of the Springfield area crew in attendance...
  14. Love = my '82 Brat Hate = my '88 GL-10T I'm seeing a recurring theme here in this thread, Love = an EA81, Hate = An EA82
  15. I've got an '88 GL10T-wag... $260 thank you very much! Of course it doesn't run right but it's a 4eat which is a step up from the 3at right?
  16. Moite aww Moite, thats almost as sick as my uncle guido's Commodore Moite! (goes down a bit better in a Guido Hatsis voice I reckon)
  17. yeppers... 175/70R13's... I've now got 5 of the H style rims (soon to be 7!) I'm hoping to get a full spare set so I can strip and repaint them...
  18. +1 for a Sydney landing... Fly or drive to Broken Hill. If you drive, head through the Blue Mountains then on to Dubbo and finally to Broken Hill. Check out things in there and then head South to Melbourne (again, fly or drive)... In Melbourne, check out the Botanical Gardens, Southbank, Bourke St Mall, Ligon St is good for Cruising as is Chapel St... After all that take a cruise the Great Ocean Road from Melbourne to Warnambool. For that drive you're gonna want to rent something that handles well, WRX perhaps? That should pretty well take in about everything you've mentioned and tire ya'll out a LOT!
  19. Looks great! sorry the J-hooks didn't work out, I guess they probably differ from manufacturer to manufacturer...
  20. Yeah, I'm going to visually check to see if there's any visible blow outs in it and I'm gonna order new gaskets at lunch
  21. I'm launching into a day of wrenching tomorrow on the Brat, so far my "to-do" list is as follows - Check and top off all fluids - Oil change - Valve rocker adjustment - New spark plugs - Remove rattling heat shields - Inspect and replace (if needed) exhaust manifold gaskets - Test battery and charging system - Check and adjust timing - Check and adjust tire pressure - Inspect distributor/rotor/cap - Inspect plug leads (replace as soon as I can get new ones) - Add Rislone to the trans to try and help my 'crunchy' synchros, I assume I'm looking for the oil treatment? Anything I'm missing that I should do while I'm at it? The only thing that I'm not sure of the time needed is going to be the valve rocker adjustment. All the rest I figure shouldn't be much different from any other vehicle. Getting some NGK 7133's at lunch (anyone got a better suggestion?), as well as some anaerobic sealant for the valve cover gaskets (have 2 sets of new gaskets at home) will also grab a fuel filter if the parts store has one in stock.
