cobcob replied to Hodaka Rider's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I just did... I'll post the results... I specified a container of Subaru Sambars, cost delivered to a port of entry in the US, preferably on the West coast... -
1982 GL - Bad gas? Clean carb?
cobcob replied to Gyoas759's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
If the gas is more than a year old, ditch it and get some new gas... -

This would be awesome!! Wonder if that mod would go on my Brat... -
If someone will buy my wife an outback I'll let you fab it up on that!

Thanks Moody, I saw that pic up on the STLSUBARU site yesterday and admittedly cried a little to myself...

Blue, worst case, drive it down here and I can most likely get you a nice piece of paper that says all is well...

I believe that McBrat has been known to reproduce those BRAT decals, although I am not sure how easy/cheap they are...

I hauled my family (including parents who are visiting from Australia) to Jefferson City, MO to visit some friends and then I shot up to Columbia, MO to grab a set of jump seats for my Brat that I bought from McBrat... I also got to drool over and go for a ride in Mountain Grizzly...

+1 for La Porchetta... Great Souvlaki at Lambs on Lygon St, also an awesome little Greek tavern/restaraunt up in Niddrie, can't recall the name off the top of my head though Hehehe... fond memories of flogging the huge margarita glasses from our local Taco Bill at my going away party just before I moved from Australia... good times!

Just because I have a spare EA81 laying around and an '88GL-10 Turbo wagon that I need to have running soon. Is it a doable swap? Would I have to use the EA81 trans also or could I get an adapter plate to hook the EA81 up to the 4EAT AWD trans? This is just a hairbrained scheme right now, looking for some pointers, I've done a search but haven't found anything specific to what I'm looking at doing...

This one made me laugh a lot... now he's an electrician

Got 1st Sub: 88 GL-10 turbo wagon

Thanks Andy, I wasn't 100% certain, I know I used the biggest wrench I had laying around and it was a 23mm... Seemed a little bit and I guess that's why! -
Edrach, I'll get a mate in Adelaide to scout around for some CD's for ya... just FYI, CD's in oz aren't as cheap as they are over here! I'll let ya know what he finds though...

The one in front is most likely part of your A/C system -

+1 for a 2 row rad, removing the fan is pretty simple, there's 2 flats on the shaft, inboard of the fan which will allow you to hold it still with a 23(?)mm wrench while you undo the retaining bolts (10mm) shouldn't take ya more than a coupla minutes to get that out... -
Idle and throttle plate setting???
cobcob replied to skishop69's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I would think there HAS to be some proceedure for setting it correctly, I noticed on my 88 GL-10T wag last night that the screw stop does not even contact anything in its current position, it's obviously backed out at some point in the past 20 years... Probably a part of the reason why this POS won't idle... I haven't run across any documentation that mentions how to set it correctly though, all I've been told is "NO TOUCHY THAT SCREW!" -

Awesome! Thanks Jerry! That would put it somewhere near to the battery then? Or is it right front as you're facing the engine from in front of the car? I'm 99% certain that I DON'T have one seeing as the 3rd eye was installed by a hack mechanic at some point in this Brat's life... I'll have to see if I can find a control unit around someplace (it'll sure make this wiring mess a lot easier to clean up!)
-
Thanks J2coe, I suspect that is the limit switch shown just to the left of the (M) on the schematic... I'm pretty sure that there's a control unit that i'm missing... (could be wrong though!)

Started to rebuild the TERRIBLE wiring job that the PO had done on my Brat... I've stripped a lot of un-needed wiring out of the dash (various aftermarket accesories) My question is this: the area on the schematic below that is highlighted in red, is that a seperate module that I am missing from my wiring or is it hidden away somewhere in the switch or motor housing? At the moment I have the correct switch and the assembly behind the grill. It will work (to some extent) the switch will turn on the light and I can put +12v to another wire under the dash to activate the door but it just flaps up and down until you remove the power... Any 3rd eye experts around here?
