  1. I ran this trail this summer in a 2000 F350 CC Long bed 4x4 on 35" tires with a 6x6 polaris ranger in the bed. I got a flat that was unrepairable and was scared to death i was going to get another flat. If you run it and take 3 spare tires or more. Its very rocky on the Alma side and the steepest part is towards the beginning on the Alma side where they bypassed the original train grade. Leadville side is cake. I took Weston Pass back to the South Park are-it is South of Mosquito Pass very dooable in your Sub. I came across a truck on weston pass that got a flat and had no spare. Colorado trails eat tires. We did Boreas Pass in a CRV, this is just north of Fairplay. La Salle Pass is fun and easy-about 30 min east from Fairplay, you can take a road up to the top of Badger Mtn. Near Denver-Rollins pass is easy but does not go all the way to Winterpark, Apex road/Kingson Peak is gougeous and Sub friendly.
  2. That does look badass but Im 99% sure the stock suspension will give you that much travel too.
  3. The web wheelers are out and cranky......Keep up the work and don't listen to the haters. They are just jealous. And BTW my home made coil overs work excellent.
  4. When welding the shocks I welded very low on the shock and where I knew the incert was welded in the tube. Tacked and cooled in water tacked and cooled. So on.
  5. Cheap, long travel coil overs. and easy to make really.
  6. Ground the lugs and the hub. I do both.

I have some x-braces going between the mounts in the rear. It works fine so far. Keep in mind that there is hardly any weight back there too.

The ST will hit 8k in no time. Im able to use the stock subaru tach. What is nice is the ST redline starts at 8k and the subaru tach ends at 8k so i Just keep it under that. I returned the axle, for some reason there is a difference between the carbed and FI engines. I went for the FI engine this time which was 30 bucks more. Hopefully it will be a little stronger. I already forgot the brand.

Subimonster-are you talking about the rear strut towers?
  10. bigo1966 replied to bigo1966's topic in Off Road
Crap. I just installed a brand new front pass side axle. Went out for a 2wd lap around the hood, got on it and BOOM. I have 5" strut spacers with 4" lift blocks. Why is it the pass side front always blows up? I beat the hell out of the buggyroo and had no problems like this. Do you think its the gearing and power of the engine or maybe a bad rebuilt axle? The inner DOJ went and last time it was the outer CV. Crap. I hope im not in over my head...or I will just have to baby it.

What is the difference between the EA82 rear axles compared to the Legacy? Are the splines the same? Are they dual DOJ's?
  14. bigo1966 replied to bigo1966's topic in Off Road
Even more great info, Goyal you are correct I messed up when I put that one on. Im going to try to swap my DOJ, and eventually find the 90-94 legacy rear DOJ's.
  15. Both of these are subarus why did this get moved?
  16. Its a little bouncy at times.....

Double DOJ vs CV/DOJ. The above info is great. This really helps. I beat the hell out of the buggyroo it also had longer travel rear setup with air shocks and I never had a problem. After a quick review of pics the buggyroo it had double DOJ's. IS it possible to swap a DOJ with a CV? I have 4 DOJ/CV's so could I possibly make a set of double DOJ's? Thanks again, this really helps. It as a 4" lift, 5" front strut spacers, and my homemade rear coilovers. So really I have no idea how much over stock the rear suspension is, at least 3" would guess.

Im guessing my problem is my CV angle? Looks like I need limiting straps or softer springs. What do you think? O

FWIW I'm the guy that has the V4 motorcycle engine "under the hood", more like sticking out of the hood in my subaru. Its still in my garage waiting for a roll bar and new front bumper.
  21. Nice, ive been waiting for some hacked up pics like this. What size tires? How is the power? Any comparisons to a D/R?
  22. bigo1966 replied to bigo1966's topic in Off Road
Front axle out of a 86 GL with a D/R. I have a few extra rears but no fronts. Im broke right now and want to go play.

Is is possible to rebuild a front outer DOJ with any rear DOJ axle parts?
  24. That was my first thought. Might have to try this out sometime.
