Finally got to go play. There are still a few kinks to work out but other than that I was really happy with how she preformed. Im officially changing her name to Hondaroo. I need to weld the rear, hook up a different voltage regulator, bash the fenders more, deal with some bad plugs and wires and ill be good for the next trip.

Nothing cool. Building front skidplate out of 1/4" aluminum, cutting out rear fenders more cause tires rub too much and basically lock in the fender. I still need to hook up oil psi and engine temp gauges, need to swap PS R&P to manual R&P. I use the hood latch release as my manual choke cable....works PERFECT. I took it for a spin the other day, hit 25 mph and the hood flew up and broke my new j-yard window. Slowly working on bumpers, roof rack, and spare tire mount, i still need to swap out the rear diff for a welded one and a drive shaft that has a good pillow block bearing. Im going to bob the rear 1' so i can hopufully put it on a 10' flat bed on my F350 and still pull my 26' camper. The flatbed is way down the road. Ive been forced to work weekends at my job and im taking Accounting I online so my play time is limited..... Anyone have a coolant temp sending unit they would send me??? Im too cheap for a new one and no time for the j-yard.

Yeah what are the big plans? Rear engine 4x4? Long travel suspension? Hot Tub in the trunk?

Cool, im guessing that one or both ends of the leaf spring will have a shackel? Otherwise it wont flex if its fixed in place right? It would make for a very ridged ride. Also you are going to HAVE TO rebuild the front a-arms to allow more travel. That is one cool setup. I want a 720 fron diff setup in the front and rear of the sedamn

There is a guy on pirate4x4.com that got ridden hard cause he use the trailer ball and hitch set up for this exact application. From what I remember it worked well, people just gave him a hard time......I SAY DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

A breif update. 90% wired up. I need to find a manual rack and pinion. I bent the hood and broke my front windshield when i went over 25 mph (forgot there was no hood latch) A 90:1 low range in worthless with open diffs. Its FAST FAST!!! Infact when I punch it the front lifts up so much it starts to "wander" down the road. Ok, thats it for now. I need to actually take it off road to get a better idea of how it really works.

"Becuase your heater motor has more dispalcement than the engine?" That is pretty funny, i got a laugh out of it at 6:00 in the morning. Im guessing it has to do with a few parts not completing some circuit due to the engine swap.

Can someone please tell me what 2 colors of wire run the temp sending unit on the EA-82? this would be from the main harness hear the radiator puke tank. There is a large round black connector with about 5-7 wires, center one is oil PSI but i can not seem to figure out which 2 go the the temp sending unit. can someone trace it back on there car. I can make sence of shop manual.

What McBrat said, i dunno how i got my other ratios, i guess thats why i got a C in math.

So now that the sedamn has a very low range, the weak link is the rear axles/diff. Any thoughts/comments on possibly taking a toyota 3.9 IFS front diff and axles with hubs and mating all that crap to the subaru components? Or what about stronger subaru components? I searched and didn't find much.

My bad its 91.2215, the subaru lowest range is 22:1, not 23:1.

23:1 low rage on subaru, times Primary reduction 1.829 Gear ratio, 1st 2.266 =95.32:1 Its has pretty much zero torque at idle, once the RPMs increase i should be fine. The Honda ST1100 makes the most torque and horsepower from 5000 to 6500 rpm

Just put an motorcycle engine under the hood. Much easier.

Ive experienced this same problem on a ford granada, never found a solution. We just ended up locking the steering wheel and dragging it around turns.

Thanks guys! It wraps up very quickly. I cant wait to shift gears. It kind of reminds me of a monster truck since the shocks are shot. Front end up, front end down.

IT LIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was able to drive her around....kind of, no power steering, no power brakes and no clutch. Who needs those anyways? It needs the rest of the exhaust bad, VERY loud. Im not sure if the ST engine was in 1st or 2nd gear in the video. Its actually alot quicker than I thought it would be. I still need to clean everything up under the hood. I have a Subaru manual but the wiring diagram does not match any wire colors under the hood. So could someone help answer the following questions: What color is the wire that sends the oil psi signal, coolant temp signal, and what wire sends the tachometer signal. I have spent an hour and its the worst diagram ive seen. Oh yeah, and how do i get my darn fuel pump to stay on. I had to take the minus yellow wire that would normally go to the coil and touch it to the positive terminal on the battery and it would turn on for 2-3 seconds and send fuel then turn off, i would have to repeat to fill the bowls up.
