Headed over to Scoobyclimb's neck of the woods. Went up Peavine rd. (spelling?) headed for the coast range. It was kinda icy in spots but not too bad. Till we came across a Bronco in the ditch. Tried to get it out but they had blown up it's drivetrain at some point. And had bald tires. (seemed to not be going into gear, or could have been the clutch) Yanked and dug for proly about an hour (give or take) but could not get it to pop out of the rut. A large bulldozer of a truck showed up and got them out and into a turnout. So we went on our way. I got in a nice powerslide at an intersection that even got the front inside wheel in the air. (wierd bump in the corner and it was uphill) I wonder if Scooby saw it in his rearview. The road got gradually more slick at that point. Still no biggie though. Made it up to a pretty high point but not to the top like we wanted. The snow was just too nasty. About an inch of powder with almost a foot of wet icy stuff you could stand on but a sube couldn't. So it was kinda like driving through wet cement. Got a couple pics though. Still had some fun though. Just seemed like there were alot of people up there that should not have been. On the way down we came across a couple cars trying to get up a hill. (they had no chance) I think it was an old Accord, and an Olds Alero. All young kids. And I noticed very bald tires on both. We pushed their cars around so they were pointing back down hill and told them to go home. It got deep just up the road from where they were getting stuck. They thanked us for the warning and help and we were on our way again. Overall an interesting day. No chains or pulling on each other's cars was required.

Happy New Year! Yeah I guess We're gonna stick with wheeling over near Newberg/McMinnville, and maybe head over to TSF. Scooby knows (lives in) that area and says there's not much wind and we can check out some lower elevation trails. We'll have plenty of chances to wheel I'm sure. I know Mike wants to get back out in a couple weeks as well. Well I'd better get over there.
-
hhhmmm.. I'll have to pass this along to Scooby when I get ahold of him. I think we were gonna go to TSF mainly cause of the high winds around here right now. Don't know what it's like around Goat. All I know is when you get to snow level it turns nasty and icy.

92 sedan lifted! Look!

Nice. -
Yeah the wind is pounding the house. I think any wheeling out this way would be asking for blowdown on the roof. So yeah I'm up. Just need to check some fluids on the sube and I'll give ya a call in a few. Then we can figure out a meeting spot.

I just got back from a recon run up Wildcat. Sorry to admit I didn't make it to the top/gravel pit area. But there were lots of tracks going up. All the side gates are closed but they always are. I made it about halfway up Wildcat Mt. drive. Then the snow just got too icy and packed in. Got to the point I was dragging chassis all the way and figured digging myself off of a big ice chunk was not how I wanted to spend my day. I'm sure it gets more powdery further up, but I just turned it around. Bigger meats and such would have made it cake. So it was just ice bash/ high center city up there. And I don't want to spend my day tomarrow digging my sube out every ten feet. I'm sure most low snow will be the same. So we need options. Maybe try to stay below snow level if we can. As the transtion sucks. But most the good wheeling is up high. (huh, almost all of the wheeling is up high)

Well crap. Just heard that Wildcat is all locked up. And they have game cameras getting plate numbers of violators. Not sure of the truth but it's what I heard. So the Jeep guys are splitting up and hitting TSF and Goat.
-
We try to wheel as much as we can. We've yet to have the schedules of all that wheel down here to allow all of us to go at the same time. I'm sure it will happen though. So Scooby, Let me know. Like I was sayin' I was planning on going up to WildCat with some Jeep guys meeting at Shorty's corner at 8/8:30. Wildcat does not have much but it's fun to play round there a little. Or we could just go somewhere else. I'm not 100% tied to going with the Jeeps. And as you scoped out, the mountain is a zoo. And I'm sure on the 1st it will be just as bad up there. So we might want to just stay away from there. So We gotta figure out where to go. I'm gonna try to get my sube ready today so I can just roll out in the morning. Hopefully a couple more peeps see this and can make it.
-
Should be fine in a couple weeks. feb 1st is my cutoff for my plates expiring. Hoping a cat will be enough. If not then it's gonna have to sit for awhile.
-
Oh man. I can't make it on the 31st. Proly gonna go out on the 1st with some Jeep guys to Wildcat though for a hangover run. Probably. Not much at Wildcat but it's more of a simple quick run. Sorry I didn't get your message early enough this morning. I was still sleeping and the phone was turned to silent. And I was still in portland without my subie.

Nice. That just looks like it would be too much fun in the mountains. I bet with drilled hubs and a lift one could also adapt some of the tracks for a 6 lug truck pretty easy as well. If only there were more $$ on hand.......
-
Nice. That lift looks good. I got some extra cash for christmas. Would love to lift mine but I have to use it for a new exhaust first, no cat and lots of leaks, cracked pipes everywhere. I'll prolly just have them do a full cat back type setup, I'm sure that my muffler is clogged up with chunks of the cat guts. (pass side front axle and bearings would be nice as well.) Or else I'll be parking my sube in feb cause of DEQ. (if a new cat will be enough to pass)

Got mine too!

Time to share what I was able to get with my dead batteries. The GL just sittin' pretty on a hill. The lunch stop. Scooby in the offending washout. They are so easy in the dry. But with snow all the angles change on ya. Back under way and past the fullsize 4X4s that seemed to be trying to get themselves stuck for good. And last but not least the video of Scooby trying to warn ships of the coast. Got some more of my "one hand on the camera while off-road" footage too. Really gotta stop doing that, but I wanted the footage. It was a good time, even though we ended up not getting as much trails in as we wanted. All the snow is always a good test.

Taken from an automotive histoy book: "Part of the former Nakajima Aircraft Company, Fuji Sangyo was organized in 1945, then reformed in 1950 by order of the occupying Allied forces into 12 smaller companies. Of which five became Fuji Heavy Industries in 1953, building scooters, railway rolling stock and aircraft power units. They joined Nissan in 1968. Thier first car, the 360 was released in 1966, and the FE in 1968." ..... ect. You know the rest. I checked a few books and all say the same thing. I have also read somewhere that the subi emblem represents all the companies. With the five small stars being the small companies coming together, and the biggest star being Fuji Heavy. But I've also heard other stories of it's reason as well. I just tend to see the logic in that one. hehe

Ok I'm pretty sure I'll take two. I'll send off the payment tomarrow. Gotta throw the $$ in my account.

I'm going with your response GD. I figured it was kinda wierd that it ran all the time. -

Ahh. Cool. -
I'm thinking I'll be wanting one of those. Being that my GL of Doom is in it. hehe Let me check to see if my paypal account is still going (have not used it in several years) and I'll shoot off the info.

Huh. Maybe I should look into fixing mine. The pump will run all day without the engine running as long as the key is on. -
front axle rear axle, interchaingable ?

I'm thinking not. I know they are different on my EA81. Maybe someone knows a part # for ya. -
fuel pump cutout thingy location?
TeamCF replied to SakoTGrimes's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Not to highjack Sako's thread. But did Subaru change this at some point? My fuel pump starts running the moment you turn the key to run position. I could kill my battery just by running the pump without ever starting the car. (but why would I want to, just an example) Wonder if someone along the line modified mine..... -
