  1. In the spring I may be back in MI for a family visit. (grew up in Livonia) Proly won't have my subie with though. I should, I would love to hit the trails on my dad's property up north.
  2. Just checked out your site. Lovin' the EA81 roof rack and front bumper. Hopefully sometime after the holidays I can be bolting one of them on my GL. I'll let ya know. Oh, on the bumper. I'm sure its no problem, but any chance of a couple light tabs on there? Guess we can talk about that once I'm in a position to buy.
  3. Very nice. Glad someone got it whole. Guess he still decided to keep the swampers for his YJ.
  4. As I don't have a Weber I can't help ya on the choke. But I'm thinking the wire to the solinoid your talking about is for the anti- dieseling on the Hitachi. (is it on the front drivers side of the Hitachi?) Which will cut your fuel when unplugged while idling. (at least it does on mine) If the Weber does not have that feature than you can proly ignore it....(but would have to insulate it from accidently grounding out) I'm sure by morning someone with far more Weber knowledge than I will have your good answer.
  5. Hmmm...... Just from the pic and remembering what mine looks like. It does look to be bigger. And it looks the same shape as mine. (too lazy to go out and look at it, it's sitting on the garage floor ) Could be good for those with lowered rides, or looking for less roll. Think I'd try to come up with a rear bar first though. (would have to be fabbed from another car?) Personally I found my GL RallyCrosses and runs trails better with no bar at all. (more front bite in corners, more flex off-road) Good find though, I'm sure someone will dig that. Ok, got off my butt. The bar off my GL is about .8"
  6. Man.... I guess I'll have to wait till next season to see how this will effect my RallyCrossing. Once upon a time I was gonna join SCCA anyway as well as my normal ORG membership. But decided it was just more money than I wanted to spend being that it wasn't needed. Looks like I may have to next year in order to save myself from $$$ indivdual weekends.
  7. Snow is fun with our cars. Looks like you had a good day/place for some playing around.
  8. Yeah me going out sunday required conning my GF to go along. (with work schedules we only really see each other a few times a week now) She had fun for most of it but running on narrow cliff edges over rocks in the snow made her nervous. (I will admit to feeling the same at a couple points that offered not much traction) But her schedule is changing in december. So I may be able to take guilt free wheelin' sundays more as well.
  9. Very nice. My GL wants to grow up to be just like it. (but with two more doors)
  10. hehe Yeah. Even if I had bottomless pockets. I'd still keep my old GL and use my endless cash flow to see just how far one could be taken. It's not a matter of doing this to the best rig for the job. It's a matter of doing the best things I can to THIS rig, cause I can. (or can after saving up) I could have bought something better for RallyCross than an old GL (the reason I bought it). But I chose it cause it was the odd choice and I just don't like the easy route. And I'm a sucker for a flat pushrod engine. But now I be gettin' off topic.
  11. Girlfriend's current work schedule gives me saturdays free. (till december) So she just tells me to go wheelin'. I listen. Turned into a last minute thing so I neglected to announce it. Didn't get a ton of pics but heres a few. Went up around Goat (as usual, but I got a pic from a different trail) And checked out the South Fork area some. Got muddy and saw some elk. (but not pics of them, sorry) Up on a outcropping in the south fork area. There was a higher point I proly could have gotten to (from where the pic was taken. But there was lots of moss on the path and I was feelin' the Tread Lightly feeling that day for the moss. A jeep trail I've been down once before (the "flex rock" is on it). Nice technical trail with lots of rocks, short/steep climbs, roots, ect. Due to logging they have it blocked halfway down, but at a spot you can turn around. Still fun even though it's quite short. Made the run up to the top of Goat twice. Once had a bunch of guys on quads at the top give me the "No way! You drove that up here?!" line. And the second got a group in Jeeps (one of which was a sweet trailer-queen rock crawling rig) and Yota's. Giving me basicly the same reaction. Followed by one of them at that point deciding they wanted to build up an old Subie for fun. Then on sunday headed out to the Badger Lake area with ScoobyClimbs. Had alot of fun in the super powdery snow. (what, no Cascade Cement?) And alot of frustration with a guy at a traffic problem on the highway that was basicly like "I work fo ODOT, I drive a twin turbo diesel F-350 quad cab, I rule all, your little cars suck, you couldn't pull anything out." Then I pulled SC out of the snowbank, up hill, and we were on our way. (he got stuck in the bank cause he was trying to help out by putting out flares 'n' such which the ODOT guy did not have, and the angle of the road and ice slid him over when he tried to go again.) All I have to say is some of the stuff we went through that day would have made that guy crap himself. He was spinning his tires all over. I've driven plenty of capable 4x4 pickups over the years. One thing I always notice is when it gets wintery, they don't always work the best. Yeah in a all out tug of war my little GL would crap out against his truck, but it does what it needs to when it needs to pretty well for a little passenger car. Still had lots of fun though. Stopped at Mt. Hood Brewing in Gov. Camp for a beer and headed home. Gettin' close to the lake. "badger, badger, badger, badger......."
  12. You hit the nail square on the head. No room for skimping at 10,000 feet.
  13. Well I hope you can get it for $150. Not too far off the original price.
  14. Nice pics. (both the Brat and Zap's)
  15. They cater mainly to the experimental aircraft builders. (which generaly have way more $$$$ than us) I think the fact they'll do engines/parts for auto's and such is just for a little extra business. I would love one of thier fully built EA81s in my GL. Oh yes. Think I'll just have to settle for one of thier rebuild kits though down the road.
  16. You can cruise up and down the beach just north of Seaside as well. Oh yeah and something cool to check out would be Fort Stevens right near Astoria. They may even have one of the big gun restorations done....? (not sure, have not been there in a couple years) http://www.visitftstevens.com/ (that'll give more info) And there's the ship wreck sticking out of the beach just outside the fort as well.
  17. I'm thinking I'll be wanting one.
  18. Well I havn't actually been to long beach yet. But I always hear of people going wheelin' there. I would assume lots of sand. Maybe some hills. Not sure if they have full on dunes there though.
  19. There. As soon as I get a new calender this is the first thing I'm writing in it. The Long Beach thing sounds good. I would like to play in some sand. Some trails would be cool too. Anyone been wheelin' much in that area?
  20. I would think a rod would be a lower sound like you say. Could just be a really bad rod though. :-\ Kinda sounds like my GL. Only mines lower sounding and goes away after several seconds once it has oil pressure.

Well then we'll have to go up one night. Have to keep an eye on the weather for a clear night. I'm always down for night wheelin'. But always going up Lolo for night runs cause it's familiar and close to home (in case something trys to go wrong) alone is fun but gets too same old same old. Still fun though. Gotta work on the subie this week, just tweaks mainly, and install a CB. (and the weather is supposed to be bad anyway) But we'll see how things go next week maybe.

No problem. I head up there quite often actually. Keep wanting to make a night run one weeknight to see the city lights from up there, but the last time I tried I got up to the point of turning off the pavement but decided it was just way too windy. I figured it would not be fun to get up there, find I can't stand in the wind, and maybe find I have to clear the rail to get down. So I came home. Next time it looks like the weather might be clear and I have time I'll proly head up there. (it's best when you can see the view) Or maybe sooner. I'll let ya know. Gonna try to get a subie group one of these days when all schedules work out right.

It was good times. The water was a bit intimidating at first. Looked real soft on the bottom. It was, but only a few inches of mud, then rock. We have to just plan way ahead and get the bunch of us going.
  24. Went for a tour around the Clackamas River Ranger District with scoobyclimbs. (Basicly the area between Mt.Hood and Mt. Jefferson) Started out by going up Goat Mt. (I just love that climb, the reward is the view) Then headed for the Mt. Jefferson/ Olallie Lake area. Lots of pics were taken, but most are not on my camera. But I'll share what I got on mine. SC leaving a muddy/rocky play area. I think we had more fun on the trails going in and leaving than once in the gravel pit. The mud was like grease and none of the fun climbs were happening without swampers and Linclon Lockers. One hill was just a slip n slide. At the top of Goat. Leaving Goat. Had to stop and give him my camera. (batteries died) (I though we agreed not to stop once under way in that part of the trail...) Back underway. After this the trail ceased to exist so we turned around and did it again. 'bout all I got. Fun times. The wheeling went well into the night. Got to use the overhead lights alot. I got a wierd vibration from the engine when climbing hills on the highway now though. Gonna check it out, change my rear diff oil and give it some more.
