  1. That's cool. We'll hook up next week then.
  2. I would be interested in tagging along. I'm sure I can convince my girlfriend that a weekend of wheeling would be good for me. Let me know details on times places ect.
  3. Did not get much sleep friday night so I got up way late for making it out to the Mt. Hood Rally. But I went out into the woods anyway. (even saw some people on thier way home from the rally on 26) Went down the still creek basin area and down some PL trails I had not ventured down up Lolo. Some pics. A stream crossing up on Lolo. The trail was kinda short and ended at some PL towers but it was a fun one. There is another one that I want to have other vehicles around for next time. It has a crossing as well but its a knarly rock strewn climb on the other side. Just another pic on my fave PL trail, the one with the holes that I like to get on 3 wheels on. Shows my new lights. Mini flex. A remote camp site that is up near the fire tower I took Still Creek to. This had two ways in. A short but nasty uneven loose rock hill climb, and a smooth trail. They formed a nice little loop. I took the nasty one and to my amazement the scooby made it. I should have gotten a pic of the mud pit that almost had me walking home. Hit a pit that is too rutted for my stock tires to make through dry.... It had a couple feet of water in it this time and I went in like a fool. 2nd gear, low range, full throttle. It was real slow, but it paddled through.
  4. So this past week Micheal was like "Lets go wheelin' next weekend" (I believe he wants to go sunday, but maybe saturday if it would work for everyone) So I'm taking it upon myself to try to get some more Subies out. This sunday. Chaz, Scoobyclimbs, You guys game? Anyone else? I'm sure there will be mud......You know you can't resist the mud.
  5. I don't know. This all looks doable if you are made of $$. (when I win the lotto I'll have a machine shop whip us up a bunch of custom lower gearsets...... ) Guess when the time comes for big tires and a lift I'm just gonna put an extra diff under the front and a tranfer case. Been done before so the hard part of figuring it all out has been done by others already. Just my 2 cents. Was really hoping for a simple swap type mod here though. Kinda knew that would be too easy.
  6. That was a few weeks ago. It has a few hundered more hard off-road miles on it now.
  7. Nice lookin' rig. I'm gonna be watching this thread. I'd be interested in lower all round gears in my old GL as well once I up the tire size.
  8. I'm tryin' to make it out. At least for a couple hours. My girlfriend just got a new house and it's moving weekend. The rally is not too far from me though so I may be able to make it for awhile.
  9. That's almost too pretty to put on an off-roader. But I bet it will work good.
  10. Not sure if Subaru did them the same or not. But my old GL has grease fittings for the U-joints on the driveshaft. (The main shaft from the trans to the rear diff)
  11. That was good times. Even the stuck part was all good in the end. Nice and muddy. And I got to have the water go over my hood again and not stall it! I'll have to get ya a disc so I can get a copy of the vids and pics. Wish I was gonna be in town this weekend I'd like to see some old mines. Always next weekend.
  12. I've seen kits like that for full size trucks and SUVs. http://www.mattracks.com/ (kits for trucks and a link for ATV tracks) I'm sure there's some kit out there that could be modified to fit a subaru. Ok now I'll stop with the off topic.
  13. These guys sell them. http://www.best-used-tractors.com/mini_truck.html It seems they can get parts, lift kits, ect. for them as well.
  14. Yes. Mine came out right away. Still handles fine. Does beter in off-road situations. Got rid of THAT clunk.
  15. Aww man. I'm gonna miss the mud. That's when it's most fun. (and my GL will actually power out of corners sideways)
  16. Nice. I'm thinking I'm just gonna make my own as well. Seems like I'll get it just how I want that way. Just gotta pick up a welder first.
  17. Nice Brat. I assuming it's custom so my question might be answered by myself.... But where did you get the front bumper? Thats nice.
  18. Nice setup. Looks about how I want to have mine end up. Lights, and slightly bigger tires. Not sure I wanna lift mine just yet. Got slight clunk up front as well. I checked everything on mine and it all seems to be tight. Bushings maybe? Could just be the off-roading and being over 20 years old.
  19. That's cool. Sundays will proly end up being best for me as well. I'm thinking of just waiting till I can find an LSD to build for my GL instead of welding it. Actually saw one for sale last week that was already a 3.900. Didn't have the extra cash though and now I forget where I saw it . (was either here or craigslist) So I'm gonna keep an eye out in the wrecking yards. Figure they'll be cheaper. There will just be some assembly required. Oh yeah and: http://www.myspace.com/teamcatflap I have a couple vids up on mine.
  20. I seem to remember deer playing speedbump all the time when I was living in MI. My ex girlfriend there used to nail them almost once a month on the way to work at night. (she lived up near Lapeer) Hope you get it all fixed no problem.
  21. Yeah I've been keeping an eye out for an LSD. I didn't get to check every subie in the yard I normally go to last time I went though, so I could have missed one. I've been told to just weld it. I can just see a broken axle on the street out of that though. I normally don't drive it as a daily driver (got something new and more comfy for that) but I do need it to get to the trails 'n' such on the street.
  22. I have a wedding to go to on saturday. So I really only have sunday free. Wish I had both free cause I'd be game to go up both days. I think I can get ahold of a hand held CB. And I might have a FRS radio around. I'll bring 'em. Not sure as of yet what the exact plan of attack is though.
  23. Cool. Going wheelin' this sunday. But then I have to go out of town next weekend. After that I should be free as well. Then we gotta hit the trails. That PL trail I have the still shot of I have not went all the way down yet. Wanted to wait till I was with another vehicle as it looks to get steep and goes into the woods. I know it continues for a ways (cause I can see it on the other end from up on the hill) and proly crosses a stream down there. But I have a rule about unknown downhill trails. I don't do them alone. I figure climbs are better. If I can go up and get stuck I can proly get back down. But if I go down a gnarly hill and can't get back up I'm walking home that day. And as most of the trails up Lolo way are all dead ends. You have to be able to travel it both ways. And you would think the power company would have smooth trails. Nope.
  24. Now thats some info I can use. I think the biggest part I like about it all is the exploring of new places. Yeah Lolo is pretty tame. I go there mainly cause it's close to home. I did find a powerline trail that was nothing but TV to watermelon sized rocks though. And steep. I ended up getting stuck and had to back it back down. I know I can make it but just not on that day. And there are couple more PL trails that I've yet to go down. (I wanna see the rigs the power companies use for maint. on those trails) Wildcat only really has one quarry area to offer. If ya saw my vid in the Off-Road section.... what you see there is about it. I've seen a couple trails but they are 36in tire and locker territory. People go out there more to shoot than to wheel. Goat is fun. That about says it all. I'm supposed to be going up this weekend (I have sunday free) to Goat Mt. with Michael. I should remember to give you a ring once I know time and place for meeting.
