Yeah once I have some more extra cash again I want to get something other than the all seasons that are on them. Still I can already tell the difference in wheelability. Some of the best goodie money I've spent so far on the soob.

Mine is the same way. Goes up to about 75psi (however acurate the gauge is) after starting and drops to more normal levels after a couple minutes. Hovers around 25 and goes to 50 if I'm revving it.

It passed with flying colors.

Breaking and entering troubles...
TeamCF replied to xt6_4_life's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Could always try one of these. http://www.taser.org/autotaser.html But it looks like they have been discontinued. And I really wanted one. I heard of a similar system that wired into the car and electrified the door handles years ago.... But it never made it past the lawyers. -
Hmmm. Well I'm gonna hope mine never had one and give it a shot. I seem to remember the previous owner mentioning taking it through DEQ before. And it never had one while he had it. (said he never did anything to the exhaust, so he said. Just had to drill out the mixture screw so he could tweak it and then it passed.) DEQ just always gets me nervous. I originaly came from a state with no inspections or DEQ. My RX7 got a ton of $$$ spent on it and when it got to the point that I replaced everything but the engine itself I just gave up. $2,800 on top of the grand I already put into it was just getting old. Now it just sits in the drive with a bunch of new emissions and ignition parts in it. I'm hoping the GL won't suffer the same fate. But I do have an engine for it, was just wanting to get it passed so I can spend some time on the "newer" engine before putting it in. RallyCross is coming up.

Thank you.

First my specs: 1983 GL 4x4 dual range 4spd, Hitachi carb, 1.8L So I'm taking my GL into DEQ in the morning. But I have a quick question about it. Every diagram I've seen shows an oxygen sensor on my car. But mine never had one, and still does not have one. And it had good tags when I bought it. But it was just about in Molalla at it's previous home. So is there maybe a chance I'll pass or will it be a wasted trip into town? Is there a chance mine never had one at all? (I'm thinking it did, and was removed, but there was no bung for it) If only I lived a mile down the road. I could just go into DMV and pick up my tags without DEQ. Emissions hassles are why I ditched the vehicle the Soob replaced....

Nothing too exciting. Just got to head up to Goat last minute and try out my new pugs. It was super sloppy out there and the tread is no more aggresive than my old 13's but the little added clearance seemed to make all the difference. Had to be careful though, got my new CAT on and I didn't want to smash it till I have a chance to DEQ the GL. Got a pic. Let the new wheeling season begin!

New Loyale Driver just saying hi
TeamCF replied to CrazyLoyaleDriver92's topic in Meet n' Greet. Your USMB Welcome Center
Welcome! Don't feel bad about 2WD. Lots of cars out there are. The fact yours is a Soob already makes it better than most. And you can always convert it to 4WD if you feel the need. Lots of info around here about that. -

Huh. I bet mine either does not work. Or all the cracks and holes in my are causing all the popping. Wonder if it will hurt my DEQ....

Looks good. I know lots of people will put the basket style roof racks on and just bolt the lights on there. Myself, I just drilled holes in the roof and put a couple KC daylighter style lights right on. With lots of silicone for leaks. I seem to have very little vibration on trails at night. even though they are just mounted to the sheetmetal. I plan on mounting them to a rack when I get one though and plugging the holes. Pretty sure there's a pic in my gallery.

Nice buggy. Good luck with your piston search and welcome to the board.

Oh yeah I got mine (2) awhile back.

If you want the 13"s for your lifted rig then you won't have many tire choices in an all terrain. 13" is mostly just small snows and all seasons. I got some of the biggest I could find on my wagon. I believe they measure about 22.5" tall. with the weight of the car sitting on them.

What is "highest mileage" world record?
TeamCF replied to bgd73's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I believe it's a '91 T600. He hit a million about two/three years ago.... I think it was. Yeah he drives alot doing long haul and spends $$$$$ on fuel. hehe, yeah I noticed the "banned" part. But I just noticed the date on the other posts. -
Thanks I'll give them a try. I've ben going to the dealer in Gresham as it's easy for me to get to but the one in Oregon City is just about as close.

I had just under 500,000 on my old '72 Volvo before I sold it. (it had about 300,000 when I bought it) Burned a little oil sometimes. But it took me up to Seattle every weekend like it was cake. And I'm sure the previous owner never did much to the engine as far as an overhaul. I wanted to keep it so I could one day join Volvo's "Million Mile Club". But i didn't feel like fixing all the brake problems it developed. My stepdad has well over a million miles on the original engine in his Kenworth. But those are built for high miles. He almost threw a party when it turned over. -
Yeah that's the one I mean. Sorry for the confusion. Just a plain old non turbo EA81. The gaskets between the Y-pipe and the heads.
-
So I had went to the dealer and bought 2 new downpipe to head gaskets for the exhaust. They are way to big. My downpipe goes right through the holes. (the holes are 2 1/8" across) They are part # 44022GA340. Think maybe they gave me the wrong ones? Gotta get this thing all sealed up for DEQ. I'm running some old RX7 gaskets I had around on it now but they recently gave up the fight. Wondering if it's worth my time to run all the way back to the dealer or if thats all they will have.

Thats gonna be a nice little trail machine.
