  1. thats the thing...i just replaced the alternator with a new one and the battery is new also and connections are tight......i just thought it was weird that both the BRAKE and BATTERY lights would come on at the same time.
  2. hey guys, I have a 96' legacy 2.2 with a 5 spd... I did some driving around today and eventually i came up on some traffic everything was fine for about 10 minutes just crawling along than both my battery light and my brake light came on at the exact same time. please if anyone can help or has a similar problem it would be appreciated.
  3. I have a 2.2 in my 96 legacy and i believe one of the items there is the proportioning valve which controls flow to the brakes (there should be a line or 2 from the ABS which goes through that).
  4. I had the same problem on my 96' 2.2 and i searched high and low for the problem....i tested everything possiable...it turned out the injector connectors were swapped from cyl. 2 to cyl. 4.....just my two sense....
  5. Not Sure if you have a seperator plate on that year/model, but i did my clutch about 5000 miles ago and i am just now finding out about the oil leakage problem there, that might be worth replaceing just incase.
  6. my apologizes i would have deleted this thread but i dont know how....
  7. All i did was throw some lowering springs on it.......by the way do you know which relay is the valve relay...i opened the top of the ABS module and there are 2 relays there?
  8. I did lower the car...someone told me that doing that could mess up the whole system....do u know if that is true?
  9. Hey Guys.... I have a 96' Legacy AWD Sedan ej22 with a 5spd.... my ABS light has been on....I pulled 3 flash codes for it....The first two were open sensors which i can look into, but the 3rd code said there was a "VALVE RELAY PROBLEM" code #51...I did a few searches on here and a few other forums and cant seem to find any information on it.....If anyone has anything on this issue it would be very helpful.
  10. My Snow Tires I have on Steelies are a set of Bridgestone Blizzaks and they have proved the be excellant in some pretty serious snowfall. My Other Set I have on ASA 17"s are Kumho Ecstas and when it comes to any wet weather or snow....these tires suck....on dry pavement i think they are great though and have a good treadwear.
  11. the cam sensor is located at the left cylinder head (almost directly below the oil fill tube and behind the timing cover). The crank sensor is right below the alternator and sort of behind the Harmonic Balancer/Crank Pulley. You could test the resistance of both of them with an ohm meter and make sure they are in specs.....also you shouldnt have any spark when either of them fails. both are quite simple to replace...unplug connector and unbolt....I know where i am you can get them from NAPA, but as always any Subaru dealer will work.
  12. I had the same problem....everything with the tensioner is fine...just the little plastic hole for the adjusting bolt is broken...i got a wicked noise from that....anyways if you have any junkyards out there.....grab one from them....i think i got 2 of them just in case and it ran me like 10$
  13. I believe you have 2 Catalytic Convertors....I have heard that sometimes if you have blown headgaskets and are burning coolant, the coolant can damage the 02 sensor......
  14. Fuel Pump? ...Also I ran into somewhat the same problem with my 96' 2.2 and i had the fuel injector connectors swapped cyl 2 and cyl 4....
  15. thanks for your help guys! Im actually helping my buddy with it....i personally have a 96' with an ej22 so no adjustment for me!
  16. can someone please explain the procedure step by step for adjusting the valves on a 1997 Legacy....It would be VERY helpful.....
  17. well i dumped out my coolant resevoir to clean it......than i filled it again with new fluid....saw the bubbles the first time the car came to operating temperature....and since have checked it like 5 times and didnt see any bubbles at all.....
  18. So If you observe bubbles in the coolant what exactly are the chances that your HG's are blown?
  19. I have a 96' LEgacy L Sedan AWD with a cable clutch.....the lock nut was lost by the previous owner. Now whenever i press on the clutch pedel the adjusting nut comes loose...I was just wondering the thread size of the clutch cable....if anyone knows it would be very helpful (it seems every size i try doesnt fit).
  20. Just trowing this one out there......Is there an AWD computer and a MPFI computer on subarus....or are they both part of the same main ECU?....by the way i have a 1996 Legacy L EJ22 with a 5spd.
  21. Hey Fellas....got a 1996 legacy L ej22 with a 5 speed...the abs light came on about a year ago....and just had time to pull up the flash codes......both rear sensors are open and it says there is a valve relay problem....does anyone have any information on this or had the same problems.....by the way the car is lowered so could that have anything to do with it......just wondering what i should do first to try and fix?
