  1. thanks skip...ill have to see becuase for a while i have been wanting to put like a gauge pod in my legacy so this may be the excuse to do that....
  2. thanks skip.....i will do some testing over the weekend and see what i come up with....my idle is perfect when im out of gear but when im in gear idling it seems low......again ill see what i find when i go over some things with a fine tooth comb....
  3. thanks for the info porcupine.....they are leaking a little bit.... im sure ill takle the job within the next few weeks..appreciate your help.
  4. short to power somewere maybe? just a guess.....that is pretty weird i have never heard of anything like that!
  5. ive got a 96' legacy ej22 with a 5 spd. my car seems to be sending the wrong info to the tach in the instrument cluster....The problem is i can drive the car here and there and than intermittently i see the tach out of the corner of my eye kind of jump up just little bit.....Ill put it this way when this happens my tach is definately still operative but it takes FOREVER to go from 3K RPM to 4K RPM everything else is normal....except the idle is a little bit low (almost unnoticeable) and as soon as i shift it doesnt drop all the way down like it should it may drop half that....ex:im shifting into 5th at 4K RPM the tach my drop down to like 3K instead of dropping like it is supposed to down to like maybe 2K...and the thing is i think my engine is actually running at that speed....which is why it turned me away from the gauge itself........any info on this would be wonderful....thanks guys! (is there any sensor that could cause this?)
  6. I believe the valve cover gasket set (comes with gromets) is like 30$ and the PCV is like 5$....by the way im doing this on a 96 legacy ej22 the passanger side rocker cover looks pretty easy to get off.....the drivers side looks like a bi$#%.....is there anything special i HAVE to remove to get the cover off?
  7. Ok just looking for any bias anyone has about valve cover gaskets and a PCV valve.....such as were to get them?....i usually get all my parts from NAPA and have rarely had a problem.....just wonderin if it really matters were this petty stuff should come from?
  8. -sea #3 that is a very informative article...i tried searching the endwrench archives before i put out this thread but i guess i didnt type in the correct words or something....nonetheless thank you....
  9. ok guys this may be a fairly silly question but bear with me the vehicle is a 96' legacy ej22.......if your crank sensor goes bad will you have spark? also if your cam sensor goes bad will you have spark?......I have gotten mixed answers on this question so i thought i might try the experts....thanks for your knowledge fellas! ( I have heard that the cam. sensor controls fuel and the crank sensor controls ignition....would the fuel and ign. just cut if either of them didnt work?)
  10. I would do a vacuum test and a compression test and study the results of those....
  11. bent or damaged flexplate could cause the rpm vibration/noise......usually worse as RPM's increase......
  12. How new is the clutch?......theres a possibility it may not be engaging and disengaging all the way....is it adjusted properly? I would also check the condition and level of the Gear Oil....just my experience...... I would also get it in the air if you can and check the trans. mount and make sure there is nothing else bent/broken/worn.
  13. autopartswarehouse.com.....excellant live online help, free shipping, and excellant prices!.....just my opinion..
  14. thanks for your help nipper...like ive said i have searched for hours for the answer to this question and cant come up with one.......by the way you seem very intelligent when it comes to anything Subaru. Like every question i post you come back with a very informative answer.....so thank you......
  15. yeah i guess you could say that it is the failsafe gear....whatever gear that the i guess the computer puts the tranny in when there is a problem....
