How to pypass park to starter connection
OK... I tried that since my RX was a 4EAT and I just went to a pushbutton on the dash and a kill switch hidden somewhere else;) Never could figure it out so I cut the harness just short of where it comes out through the firewall and voila, no more problem. Just use the big ole button

PIC Request: 1987 RX Coupe
Yeah, Brad's RX wagon is a bluish silver color or something like that. Seen it in person and its badass... even when I had to help him push it to the DB drags at WCSS6:grin:

ARGH! EA81 oilpump STUCK!
but thats the thing, I'm not planning on splitting the case cause I've never been into a shortblock before, plus, I don't have the right tools to do it.

What Trans for FT4WD or AWD into EA81 Hatch
XT6's have the same spline count as turbo trannys. 25 spline. You might be able to find a FT4wd s/r XT that is NA but I dunno if they ever made those. That would possibly have a 23 spline axle. If anything, you can change the DOJs on your axles to a 25 spline and if you get a XT6 tranny, it will be a 3.90 final drive.

ARGH! EA81 oilpump STUCK!
ok I'll have to try the block trick since I've pryed on it in a few different spots with no avail. This engine though only has 100,000 miles on it form a '81 2wd wagon....

ARGH! EA81 oilpump STUCK!
I'm just about done tearing this EA81 solid lifter engine down for a complete reseal and SPFI unit. But I ran into a problem trying to get this oilpump out. It won't budge! I got it to rotate back and forth only a little but that was finessing it with a hammer a bit (on the old oil filter). By hand, psh good luck trying to get it to budge at all. Yes, all 4 bolts are out and it should wiggle enough to move, but it doesn't. Never had a oil pimp be so stubborn to get out! What should I do?

EA82T customed
would this possibly be a F-body car? I know how you feel on that one...

'78 Brat comin back
Today, I finally got the engine torn apart, ready to be cleaned. I didn't tear into the shortblock since this is a lower mileage EA81 but the heads are getting all new valve seals in them. The only thing I have yet to get off is this stupid oilpump. I've never had one be such a pain to get off. Now I have had a couple on my EA71s that were pretty darn stubborn but I eventually got them out without breaking them. This one.... sheesh... I'll be getting it steam cleaned hopefully next weekend and painted that dark Ford blue color I always seem to use (I love that color). Tranny will also be getting steam cleaned and painted to match if I decide to do that. Before I drop the engine and tranny into the car, I'm going to be jamming the whole car front to back and the engine compartment as well, in black:D I've decided to go with a black paint, with red targa stripes. Hmm, now maybe I should paint the engine red...... gotta match you know;) I will be taking some pics of some pieces tonight and putting them into my webshots folder:D

:slobber: ea63t dream
yup, the EA63 is actually real which was replaced with the EA65 if my memory serves me correctly. They came in the '74?-'76 wagons and such.

EA82T customed
wow... he's selling it, what a shame!

uh oh... trouble??
I did that on my intake in my RX. Had to put a fitting into the spyder passage for the turbo, so out came the JB weld to mate it all up. Works great!

Steering / Axle Issues
there's only one way the axle itself will go onto the tranny. Granted, you can put it on with the splines off but try taking the DOJ back off of the tranny and rotating it 180 degrees. I did the same thing and finally figured it out after I took a couple hours to cool off because of my frustration.

Look what I found.....
no its a single turbo'd 2.0 liter with twin turbo Legacy seats in it very nice though for what it is, I love them fender flares!

'78 Brat comin back
well I was planning on replacing the waterpump since its a cheap investment for my Brat. Will be getting one here soon, since payday is on Monday:D

'78 Brat comin back
got all the parts I ordered but more are going to be ordered here soon. I started tearing into that solid lifter EA81 I have as well. Was pulling the front of the motor apart (crank pulley, oil pump, waterpump) and when I pulled the crank pulley, I noticed that A) the front main seal was goooooooone (which I already knew) and there was a big ole piece of metal chillin in where the crank pulley slides into. I flipped out, thinking this engine that ran when pulled, was toast! For the next few minutes, I spent inspecting the block in that area, pulled the disty and checked it and couldn't find anything. I finally looked at the back of the crank pulley and what do ya know... big ole piece of metal was missing out of it, the exact piece that was floating around in that little area. So tomorrow, the engine will get the rest of the tear down, and I'm going to go through the heads and clean everything up real nice and get it ready to put back together. I'm however not going to replace the oil pump since this engine only has 100k miles on it. I can't wait for this engine to be back into the Brat!

Need help. Trying to revive old subie.
the first 4 digits of the vin for gen 1 Subarus, well the gen 1 stage 2 Subarus, specifies if its a coupe, sedan, hardtop, brat, wagon and if its 2wd or 4wd. Here's a rundown in my '78 FSM... US models 2-door Sedan (STD, 4GM) - A26L-209001 and after 2-door Sedan (DL, 4GM) - A26L-409001 and after 2-door Sedan (DL, AT) - A26L-732001 and after 4-door Sedan (DL, 4GM) - A26L-507001 and after 4-door Sedan (DL, 5GM) - A26L-662001 and after 4-door Sedan (DL, AT) - A26L-612001 and after Coupe (DL, 5GM) - A26L-909001 and after Hardtop (GF, 5GM) - A26L-808001 and after Hardtop (GF, AT) - A26L-310001 and after Station Wagon (DL, 4GM) - A66L-710001 and after Station Wagon (DL, 5GM) - A66L-302001 and after Station Wagon (DL, AT) - A66L-612001 and after Station Wagon (4WD, 4GM) -A67L-010001 and after Also, Brats vin numbers started with "A69L"

need to know asap
nope, the reason I asked about the engine was because some people that are new to Subarus will refer to a EA82 coupe as a hatchback, but the EA81 was an actual hatchback. So if it is the EA82 wagon you're putting this part into, only vehicles of that bodystyle will fit into it for the most part. It would be way easier to get the part you need from a junkyard or from a fellow board member then trying to make something else fit that wasn't from that bodystyle of car.

Is a TD05H 14B turbo to much
they're for a '83 Nissan 280ZX turbo IIRC... I'm going to be getting a set here in the next couple weeks, plus a AEM AFPR and a few other goodies for my RX:D

need to know asap
length, mounting points, and the fact that both those control arms are totally different, even though they may not look it.

EA82T customed
I think the most anyone here on this board has achieved with an EA82T, has been WJM. He has gotten roughly 230 crank hp out of one in his '87 RX coupe. I am currently working on getting more out of it, but I have tuning issues and some other things like that before I can take it to the awd dyno down in Colorado to see what I'm putting out.
