just did seafoam on a 195,000 mile 2.2
Caboobaroo replied to seanski06's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXI find that if I put about 1/3 of a can through the engine normally, then dump the rest into the gas tank and maybe into the engine oil, I can definatly get a difference through throttle response and such.

spfi on a ea71? possible?
now does it fit a standard EA71 like what is found in gen 1 cars, or does it fit the fatcase EA71 which is the same as a EA81?

EA82T high compression engine. Thoughts and opinions?
well I figure once I get the engine together, it will also have the 280ZX turbo injectors, MSD 6AL ignition, AFPR, plus a Megasquirt setup also.

my car is dead... again
Maybe I'll have to come over and show you. It's pretty straight forward and the one you need is a very common bolt on Subaru. The last one I bought was 40 bucks or so, and it came with 10 helicoil inserts.

EA82T high compression engine. Thoughts and opinions?
Tex, I think I'll hit you up on those in a couple weeks. I'll even pay for you to ship them to me as well;) So carbed engine it is. Looks like its death was by a broken timing belt so away we go!

a drill and a helicoil my friend. Gonna be the only way to fix it.

steering wheel swap
GL-10s never came with an airbag. You can cut out the inner hub of a stock wheel, drill a few holes and tap them, and bolt on an aftermarket steering wheel if you like to.

EA82T high compression engine. Thoughts and opinions?
Thats probably what I'm going to do as well. I don't wanna have a higher risk of blowing it up when I get boost happy with my EBC:rolleyes:

Caleb, what shortblock are you running with your setup? Just curious to see how its running and what sort of problems you've encountered.

EA82T high compression engine. Thoughts and opinions?
Well I am planning on tearing it down to the shortblock, replacing all of the seals/gaskets, putting my gen 2 turbo heads with my cams on it, and a new oil pump as well so I don't have it die on me... again. I also have planned to get the block and heads O-ringed as well, but I dunno if I can use stock headgaskets with the O-rings. Anyone know?

spfi on a ea71? possible?
yes you can do that, or modify the base where the TB will mount to so it'll bolt to a EA71 intake.

EA82T high compression engine. Thoughts and opinions?
So I have sourced a few options from my personal junkyard. I can get all these for free mind you so here we go. EA82 SPFI x2 EA82 carbed EA82T All engines are unknown condition. The turbo engine was sitting in the car with no intake, valve covers and now has been out of the car enduring the weather for quite a few months. One of the SPFI engines has been torn down for some unknown reason but is still in the car. Carbed and the other SPFI engine are still complete and are sitting in the cars out of the weather. So, what would make a good high compression EA82T from these options? What compression ratio is going to be lower then the other (SPFI vs. carbed)? I don't want to go extreme high compression cause then I will have some issues running on pump gas when I move back to the PNW and higher boost. I'm planning on running about 10psi of boost in this car with the larger 280ZX turbo injectors and AFPR. I do plan on taking it to the drag strip a few times but I'll get some 110 octane for that;) So what do you guys think, and what opinions do you have? Also, my Delta cams (260 duration) are planned to go in as well. Plus a few other mods like exhaust and such.

ARGH!!!!! bad oilpump + running EA82T = .....

ARGH!!!!! bad oilpump + running EA82T = .....
yes, yes they do. Too bad I don't need it:D
-
ARGH!!!!! bad oilpump + running EA82T = .....
yes I know this, BUT the MPFI I believe has the higher compression ratio, plus it has the bumg on top of the engine thats threaded for the knock sensor. I'm gonna be looking into some of the differences of these engines still....

yup, whole engine is toast. Won't even turn over. Check out my WANTED post in the Marketplace.... I need a MPFI NA engine now, gonna build it up;)

Why's that? Did Tex have issues with them? These are the first set of Delta 260 cams that were made. I got them from WJM and he was running then with no issues I believe.

wasn't a junkyard engine. It came to me from a felow board member for free, had about 120k miles on it, and ran fine when pulled, just had a blown intake gasket.

ARGH!!!!! bad oilpump + running EA82T = .....
well I edited my WANTED post so here's kidna the plan now... MPFI NA EA82, gen 2 turbo heads which are on deceased engine, Delta 260 cams which are in my shop in cam towers and new seals, plus all of the extra bolt on stuff I have. 8.7:1 compression ratio plus those cams will make one pretty awesome engine... Yes, she did start ticking really loud right before it died. Bah... what a day.
