  1. Not a good thing... was getting some more of the vacuum lines and such finished up on it and decided to take it out for a spin. Was runnin great, then power started lagging so I turned around and headed for home. 6 blocks from my house, a terrible terrible sounds came from my engine.... it went SQUEAK, SQUEAK, SQUEAK, KNOCK, KNOCK, KNOCK and then stopped running... not it won't turn over for anything... bah, now I need a new engine....
  2. To pop the CV axle apart, all you need is a couple donor axles if you don't feel like bashing yours up if they're any good, and a big ole hammer. Just hold the DOJ side of the axle (tranny side) in your left hand and hit the CV joint with the hammer. It'll eventually pop it apart and then take the guts outta it. You'll need a 36mm socket for the axle nut, 14mm socket and ratchet for the balljoint on the knuckle, and a drift or also known as a punch that will fit into the hole where the roll pin is on the tranny side DOJ.
  3. So if for some reason, I cannot make it, can I still et one? I am planning on coming up but if the RX has some issues before then to make it so I cannot drive, then can I get it shipped to me for extra?
  4. I'm gonna pay at the gate since I dunno if I can make it yet or not...
  5. well what I was more worried about is bolting up to the downpipe. I just need to get it over the rear axle and I can handle the rest, including hangers and such. Just until I can get my catback on it.
  6. Yeah mines black, white and silver.... maybe I'll throw some black primer on it to make it somewhat match:D Gotta show them WRX owners what its all about! Old Skool FTW!
  7. Here's the scoop, my '89 RX which has a WRX TD04 on it, also has a 3" bellmouth Megan Racing downpipe on it. Since I'm in need of a catback for the time being, I was wondering if the catback from a '96 Impreza 2.2 liter would work? I eally only need the midpipe, not the axleback since i have a muffler I can temporarily throw on it until I get my aftermarket catback. Would this work?
  8. ha, my bad. I totally didn't see that. His board name here is quikRXturbo or something along those lines...
  9. Lookin good Rob! Gonna bring that RX of yours to WCSS8? It would be awesome to have another one there since I'll be in mine hopefully:D
  10. Looks like one form an EA81 car. LUVMYBRAT has one on the front of his '84 Brat http://community.webshots.com/photo/332702224/2045041840067339125iLsTqM Lookin good Keith! I might see about gettin that door trim for you. Are you comin to the Red Rocks meet in a couple weeks? You should bring the RX and pask it next to mine MWAHAHAHA!
  11. I should be there in my RX woohoo! Even though its still 3 different colors:-\
  12. you should drive out to Denver and meet all the people out this way:D Or I'll just come back to Oregon for WCSS8:headbang: GO RX GO!
  13. The TD04 and the VF11 share the same upipe flange.
  14. the car you refer to as the "white sedan" is actually a '87 RX 3-door coupe. His board name is WJM for a reference to search on. Yes, he had dyno numbers and from a consenses that a few other board member's agreed on was from the numbers he was showing for his wheel hp, gave him roughly 230 crank hp. He was running a STi intercooler, stock engine, stock turbo, TWE header and downpipe, 2.5" exhaust, and that was at 15psi with no sort of fuel upgrades from what I can remember.
  15. my '78 Brat is RWD. I dropped a high compression FE EA71 into it and it would smoke the rear tires all day long. Also had the stock s/r 4-speed in there and it never gave me any troubles.
  16. I had a chopped shifter in my Brat. It was cool! I cut off the threads of the shifter where the shift knob screws onto, chopped the rod off where it does the step up to hold the boot in place, then welded the threads back onto the shifter and voila! 5'' gone and worked real smooth:D
  17. yeah, the '81 GL which will be getting everything swapped from it to the '80 DL, is getting parted out and it has a black interior in it. Why, whatcha need Mary?
  18. its gonna have 68 hp y0! Lookin good!
  19. you might want to check the 02 sensor located at the mouth of the downpipe, right behind the turbo. Sometimes, if the cats get plugged, it'll end up fouling the 02 sensor
  20. Thanks! It took me a bit to get the plumbing all situated but thanks to a GM car for the reducer between the IC and the TB, it all seemed to work pretty well.
  21. I did get a couple about 2 months ago.... http://community.webshots.com/photo/302403464/2171799040067339125uICvyJ http://community.webshots.com/photo/302403464/2381973490067339125eJPOCR These are the most recent pics I have of it. I also put the one window I have back into it but I need to clean it real bad....:-\ I have also put on some 15" steels instead of the 14's in that pics as well.
  22. well I futz around with it some more tonight and rove around the neighborhood with no exhaust, heh. I played with the idle a bit after she warmed up but she doesn't want to idle properly now. She studders and then ends up dying. I did however have one guy in my neighborhood come over and talk to me about it a bit. He had the weirdest look on his face and was like "This sounds awesome! What is it? A Subaru???" Then I told him how much I've spent on it and he about crapped his pants. All in all, it was a good day, she gets up and move very nicely and has lots of power. Now I just need to get my cams put in there, get the fluids changed again, and a few other odds-n-ends done like EBC, etc.
  23. I think I'm wiser not to spend $6k on a junkyard Subaru...:-\
  24. since its an automatic, it could be the vacuum modulator in it, which when they go bad, they'll start to suck up the ATF from the tranny and dump it into the intake of the car, which will burn it out the exhaust. If it was a headgasket, it would slowly get worse and it would smoke consently instead of every now and then. Can you tell us what color the smoke coming from the car is? If it has a blueish tint to it, it'll be oil of some type, either ATF or engine oil. If its white, then it'll be coolant, usually a bad intake gasket, and then the headgasket if its real bad.
