Has anyone seen a noticable difference in their system by adding a hood scoop to their TMIC? Also, has anyone found a hoodscoop that isn't designed after a WRX one and still looks good?

Thanks a lot.

What all is involved with setting up an intercooler? (How do you do it?)

You got it! I figured we should wait, but didn't feel like typing a whole essay on getting the diagrams (I take it that it is a no-go on the Instant Message transfer?) -
Cutting out on acceleration, again
MSSLGECKO replied to pwoens's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yeah, fuel filter, mine had the same sort of problem, and the sucker was getting clogged up. I very rarely have a problem with it now, so i think that there was a little bit more whatever that got clogged in the filter, but it fixed the problem....now it's one of those problems that happens too infrequently to show anyone unless I don't want them to see it. -
WANTED!: 1983 Subaru Wagon Wire Harness Diagram

Hey guys, I just saw this post, could I get a copy of the diagrams? I have highspeed Internet and a gmail account so, the bigger the better! email: msslgecko@gmail.com by the way, if you use AOL Instant Messenger, we could do a file transfer that way. (The wiring in my car is a little rough and out of countrol) -
I don't have the answers for you. . . . I did get my EA81T wagon for $2000, so it wouldn't be that expensive for the engine and ecu, I imagine and any stock exhaust is limiting on those, I would just get new 2" or 2.5" pipes. Being in Montana, I skipped the muffler. EA81T's are a little sparser than the EA82T's. Where in Montana are you?

Strictly Custom: Bumpers with 6ton Clevis's!
MSSLGECKO replied to MorganM's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
That looks pretty close to what I've got on my rig. MudRat (John) built them for me. There were going to be trailer hitch recievers originally, but if memory serves, we forgot to put them in until it was too late. The bumper turn signals were incorperated inbetween the two tubes and look pretty good. I definately like that style and yours looks great. Nice work. There are a couple of pic.s in my signature link. They aren't close-ups of the bumper, but you can see the front bumper enough. -
Good find! That is the biggest jump I've seen a Subaru do.

Congrat.s, you're car looks great. Good condition. -
Well, my electric fan is not spinning. This is a major issue. So, I'm curious how you guys evaluate and fix the problem. Where is the temp switch and should I just use a voltmeter to see if it's working properly? Thanks,
-
My Subaru shop told me that my ea81T probably has a 2-Core Rad. and that the turbos usually do. We're fixing up my cooling system. I was under the impression that there weren't 2-cores and that none were made for an ea81 or ea82... I keep reading about people on the board having to modify 2-core radiators to fit. Just wanted to clear up my confusion. Thanks,

Overheating engine?
MSSLGECKO replied to lepetitprince's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hey everbody. I am one blessed with a hot-breathing subie. I imagine that the radiator just isn't up to the task at hand. Hot days are hard for the little bugger . So my question is this: Can someone tell me the proper procedure for flushing a radiator/cooling system. What product(s) are best for flushing? The quicker the answer the better. I'm dying to take my sailboat out but don't feel comfortable trailering it when the subie is getting hot under normal load. Thanks, -
always amazed at the numbers
MSSLGECKO replied to tailgatewagon's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Yeah, I counted over 50 Subes driving under a mile through a neighborhood near campus here in Missoula. Everyone in my family that does or has lived in MT has or has had a Subaru or two. The car is perfect for MT...or for anything. -
Just curious: (I'm broke) How much would you need to make a set of tube or half doors for an ea81, soobme? Also, does anyone have pictures of doorless- or half door-subarus?
-
So, will I be okay w/ just putting on the 27's then cutting/pounding where it rubs?
-
Thanks GD, that helps a bunch. I guess I'll just toss them on then go from there. It'll be a little bit before I get $, though.
-
Thanks for the suggestion. I'm kind of opposed to foaming the car as it is. Thanks for sharing the experience. I suppose I will talk w/ some shops about trim jobs. Does anybody want to chime in on their trim jobs? What does it take to put in 27"ers? Thanks,
-
Jig Saw, huh. That sounds like something I've got. Is it very necessary to reinforce the trimmed fenders? I don't have stock bumpers attached to the side so, I'm not concerned about the stiffness there if that's the reason for concern about reinforcement. But I am still not sure if I NEED to trim the rear of the wheel wells. Anyone? On another note, I'm trying to figure out how much to trim the fronts. Most people trim at or behind the bumper, but like I said, I don't have one. I don't want to trim so high that it looks weird and looking at the car, trimming won't change anything that I can tell as far as touching the ground offroading. I'm thinking that just trimming along the lower crease line for the bumper would be enough because anything above that seems pointless.

A couple of questions about trimming on my 83 wagon. I want to get some 27" SSR's but I'm going to have to trim for them. I've got a 3" lift so that will help, but I have a couple of questions: *From what I've read, I only need to worry about trimming the front wheel wells, is this correct? *Will I need to trim the rear of the front wheel well as well as the front or just the front? *I don't have propper tools. What is the most economical way to get this done? A. Buy tools (w/ money I don't have) or B. Go to a body shop and have them do it. (w/ money I don't have) Thanks,

My new to me Ea81t wagon is home now.
MSSLGECKO replied to MSSLGECKO's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Took the Sube off roading yesterday and it was a blast. Nothing too difficult for the car, I'm sort of feeling her out. But it'll go anywhere I'd take a good sized truck and kick butt! My friend kept getting nervous when we needed clearance in the rear cause he's used to the solid rear axle trucks. I'm lovin' it. As for the radiator, I have not taken the time to look over it and I will today. I need to make tips at work before I can invest in anything but tomorrow will probably be the day for that. On another note, I bought my car a shovel yesterday. It looks cool on the roof rack. And when 4Xing yesterday, my secondary gas tank on the roof rack fell over which was totally undude and made me feel like an idiot. (Should have known better) well, I didn't have a good way to tie it down so that it wouldn't budge until I got the great idea to get a long stick about an inch thick with good flex and bend it over the gas tank and under each side of the rack. Jurry riged that one pretty good. Thanks for the input on the Rad., GD. -

You could be right about having it gone over, but it's having some troubles sometimes but when moving, it's golden. I feel like either the Rad. isn't working well enough, or the fan isn't pushing enough. But I'd like to address both the fan and the radiator at once. The switch setup that Rooinater posted about w/ 3 possitions seems like it would be a nice way to go. But you dont' think that I should look for a 2-core radiator? It seems like a good idea, but from the sounds of it people are having to mod. ea82 radiators for their ea81's. Or can I find ea81 2-cores? 2 Core Radiator Is this sucker gonna do it for me? It's not too expensive. But it's the only one I could find so far. -
Well, my EA81T needs better cooling I've decided. So, I'm looking at the 2-core radiator and the twin electric fans. I've been reading what I can find on the forum but no one seems to be sure (that I've read) on what 2-core radiator to use. Maybe one of you guys could clarify. Also, is there any reason to use 2 stock subaru fans as opposed to 2 aftermarket fans? Thanks, -Noah
