Help - Electrical Power Loss
MSSLGECKO replied to MSSLGECKO's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
It was just a spark when I attached the battery cable to the starter. No welding. I think the elec. system is fine. -

I used fusible link wire (not just normal wire) if that's what you were thinking. But are you saying that you think I have a prob. w/ my elec. system? It blew because of the spark (I think). But yeah, I think I just didn't communicate well, there. I did use the proper fusible link wire. Thanks for the concern -
Help - Electrical Power Loss
MSSLGECKO replied to MSSLGECKO's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Thanks for all the suggestions. I fixed it right up today. Sure enough it was a blown fusible link. I made a new one (didn't feel like making a j/y run for a piece of wire) and she's roaring back to life! -
Help - Electrical Power Loss
MSSLGECKO replied to MSSLGECKO's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
As far as little boxes are concerned, there is a little gray box marked: GREEN RED RED I can't figure out how to pop it off w/out exerting little-box-breaking-pressures. It has a direct wire to the battery. Can you tell me if that's the right little black box? Thanks for the help -

How do I check the fusible link? -
I am home from school for the weekend and went to visit my subaru (EA81T Wagon). Here's how it played out, so far: The car was having some trouble with the starter at the end of the summer when I parked it. Now, it won't start even with the assistance of a hammer swing to the starter. There was, however, a click sound when the key is turned. So, I pulled it out today and had the internal contacts cleaned (I thought they were corroded but they were just dirty). When I reinstalled it, there was a small spark as I attached the battery cable - didn't think much of it. Now when I turn the key, there is no clicking sound as before and no power anywhere. The only things that do have power are the dome light, the hazard light, and the horn. The dash shows no readings and things like the lights don't work. Jumping the car does nothing at all. I'm thinking that maybe there is a bad fuse somewhere. Asside from that I'm lost. I think that the battery is fine. Suggestions, Comments? Thanks,

EA81T - Which Oil Weight?
MSSLGECKO replied to MSSLGECKO's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Anyone else? (I'm sure that anyone's EA82T application is valid as they are very similar) -
EA81T - Which Oil Weight?
MSSLGECKO replied to MSSLGECKO's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I dont' have a manual. The service manual (pdf form) that I have doesn't say jack about the recommended oil weight for any subaru engines. -
Hey there, I am not trying to start a war over oil weights, brands and such. I just am curious what weight(s) people would suggest for this application (EA81T with 135K) Should I consider the cold winter temp.s? Thanks for the input

I'm working towards that, I will have a few toy cars after college, but for now, I'm just trying to get my one car (read Subaru) on the road w/ insurance and tires. Anyhow, I'm just trying to figure out my best option considering that money is the biggest object that I do not have.

Them Cooper Cobras don't look like they're gonna dig me out of the shallow end of a swimming pool. I'm looking for something that can hold me over and that means highway and offroad use until I get some real money. I'm just having trouble seeing myself driving a 3 hour (at 80mph) trip going 70mph when I usually prefer to go somewhere between 90-110mph. I guess that's just part of the gig. Thanks for the input.

Do you have to use the DP and cross over pipe from the EA82T to use the turbo?
-
What speeds were you able to achieve? Mach 1? Warp Speed? My flux capacitor just went out last week, so I figure I will be limping along for a few days, here.
-
Okay, new question: I want the 29"ers (Liberators) but I'm kinda thinking that it will mess with my gearing for highway driving a little more than I'm prepared for. For those who have had the pleasure of both 29s and 27s, is there a noticeable difference (I'm using the 5Speed D/R) Thanks

Mine is very reliable. Make sure the cooling system is up to par (mine is not currently) I don't know of any injector upgrades

Replacement Driver Seat Foam ???
MSSLGECKO replied to 4RnrRick's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
Hell, why not just plop your good old lazyboy w/ regrigerator in there? Screw seating for 5. There's only one that really counts. -
Squeeling on full wheel turning.

Isn't this problem on PS cars usually caused by a maladjusted PS belt? (I think that's what it is) -
Wheels: Pugeot wheels Tires: there are novels written about this, one of them is a thread compiled by Zapar - check it out. (i want SuperSwamper Radials, but can't afford them so I'm getting Walmart Liberators) Lift: either build yourself one or buy one from PK Davis aka Ozified at http://www.ozified.com
-
Wish I had an extra $100 for those. I think I'm not even going to get a 5th tire for the spare (yet)
-
What is the pricing on those? I'm looking at the Liberators
-
How are the Walmart Liberators in snow?

anyone in Missoula? (opinion wanted - ebay EJ22)
MSSLGECKO replied to baccaruda's topic in Old Gen.: 80's GL/DL/XT/Loyales...
I would, but I'm not in Missoula until friday, sorry. Good luck. -
Okay, I'm gonna hi-jack this post: What do you guys think of 29"s on a 3" lifted subaru? What trimming is necessary for no rubbing on- and off-road? Does anyone have pic.s of thier lifted and trimmed wagon w/ 29"s? Thanks
-
I was thinking about the good 'ol J/Y, but the concern is that I am using the original radiator on my car (yes, the one in my sig.) and it's no good, so what good is getting another possibly old and crappy one? I suppose if the EA82's are aluminum, that might be a plus. Being a broke college student limits my automotive buying power. Thanks for the input.
