  1. Did I hear you correctly? Was it a substantial increase in MPG (got any numbers?)
  2. Thanks for the info, I might do that up next summer. Mudrat built the roof rack and bumpers on my car.
  3. That looks good! I have considered drilling some 6 lug rims for a 15" wheel and more offset. Was this a pretty easy procedure? Did you use a drill press?
  4. Was it only on SR5 models? Is it hard to find in j/y's?
  5. I have seen the older 4Runner SR5 package 3-guage cluster on the center of the dash..... But I didnt' expect to see the same/similar thing on an '83 Toyota Corolla 4WD (I think they're called Liftbacks) I happened to jump one of these last night and noticed the cluster on the dash. I'm posting this, because I knew about the 4Runner one from this forum, but hadn't heard of the Corolla cluster.
  6. *Note* I suppose that the wider track wouldn't be the full 2.5"s per side because that added width is on both sides, so it's more like 1.25"s per side wider. Is that accurate?
  7. Can anyone tell me what the Pug. offset is (14" Steel)? What are the stock subaru offsets from the EA81's? I will be going from 7" wide tires to 9.5" wide tires, Is that a noticable difference in track? Would I be right to calculate it as 9.5-7= 2.5"s on either side? Thanks guys, this helps a lot.
  8. A Dog, did you happen to come across any Pug's at the j/y?
  9. Well, thanks for the opinions. I just wanted to make sure that I am not being an idiot here. What is the offset of 14" Pug. Steels? Do wider tires make a difference?(never considered that) I don't see a huge [negative] difference between a 3" lift and bald tires vs. 3" lift and 2" bigger tires - (so 1/2" to 1" more liftage) Driving the car, I feel like the tires that are on now are a bigger safety concern than any lift I could put on the car.
  10. Snow's lookin' pretty good. Went snowboarding behind a car in town yesterday, so that says something.
  11. I agree. Honestly though, is this a concern that anyone finds to be a huge issue? I mean, the car's already lifted, it can't drive over about 80 mph and I run stuff over, not rally it.
  12. Alright, I have a disagreement w/ my father about the safety issues regarding puting 27" tires on my lifted subaru. The car is in my sig. and it has 195's (i think) on it now that need to be replaced. I live 200 miles away at college. Am I going to flip my car everytime I hit highway pavement to come home? All comments welcome
  13. I went to 1stsubaruparts.com to order a new oil filter for my EA81T and put the year as 84 (the engine's not original) and it returned a result for 84-89. That seems a little strange to me. (The system doesn't seem to work for the 83 oil filter) Are the filters all the same or something? Thanks
  14. You might have to take me w/ you to these fabled subaru graveyards sometime. I haven't really been looking, but I'm sure I will be sometime soon.
  15. No, those are 14" Pugeot's. The tires are just rediculously undersized. I'm looking for some used tires to hold me over till summer (aka $)
  16. I don't know specifically about that area, but in general MT roads are kept pretty well. Good Luck!
  17. I'm down. I should be making enough $ over the Winter Break here to bring my car back to Bozeman w/ me. I think Tailgatewagon was in Bozeman and planning to build a lifted rig. Might have to get him involved if his car's going.
  18. Hey all, I just wanted to see who all is in Montana. I'm in Missoula going to school in Bozeman.
  19. Where is it located? The car is an '83 TurboTraction Wagon. Thanks.
  20. Has anyone put a Cone Filter on their EA81T? Pictures? Did you use an adaptor? Thanks,
  21. I read that on a .pdf format document of the Service Manual. I don't have my computer right now as it is KIA, but that's where I read it. I think I will just crank her over w/out the ECU fuse for a wee bit, then give it a go. I was wondering if just draining the oil normaly would actually remove all the oil from the turbo, but I just don't feel like destroying my turbo, I already get in enough fights w/ my car on a regular basis.
  22. I read a little deal about changing oil on the EA8X Turbos and it said that you should turn over your engine until you get oil pressure on the guage after you have changed the oil before you turn the engine on. This is to prevent the turbo from spinning w/out oil in it. Questions: 1. Does anyone do this? (comments?) 2. How can I turn over my engine w/out disconnecting it fromt he tranny? 3. I can't check the pressure cause the turbos didn't come w/ oil pressure guages at least for the EA81T's. Thanks
