My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
Driving my new ea81 is great. I've only had ea82s and an outback, but now I think I like the ea81 the best. The `87 hatch I pulled the axle from yesterday had a good working hood latch. I can grab that no problem. The only issue was the interior handle for the hood release was busted. Can't wait to see some pics.

My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
Good to hear the ski team car isn't a wreck. I was thinking about emailing that seller but wasn't sure how I would get it back from WI. I was at a JunkYard yesterday pulling an axle for my `84 DL and was telling my friend about it. He reminded me that we saw one of those Ski team wagons in another junkyard about an hour north of here around a year ago. If i remember correctly it wasn't in too bad of shape. I'm kinda strapped on cash for the next week, but hopefully I'll be able to make it up there again in 2 weeks to see if its still there. I'll bring my camera and if it has anything worth while I will keep you in mind.

Finally! Back in a Subaru.
Its actually not a native to MI. I was told the original owner brought it here from some where out west. Not sure where, but I'm not too concerned either way. Today's project will be getting the odometer working. I noticed that it works if you hold in the button that resets the trip gauge. I hope it just needs some cleaning. I guess we'll see once i pull it out.

My '83 GL: The Ski Wagon
Bum deal on the gl-10. It sounds like walking away from it was the best thing to do. That Ski wagon would be way more fun in my opinion. Good luck!

Finally! Back in a Subaru.
thanks for the compliment. Yes, I'm looking for the left tail light, and also the roof rack and trim is missing. I would love to find a factory style push bar for it too. I commute through an area that is notorious for deer hits and would like a little bit of protection.

Finally! Back in a Subaru.
Thanks on the tip Tom. I'll give that a shot later today when I have it in the garage. I'm changing out the passenger front axle. This winter definitely has been weird. I've never seen Muskegon Lake unfrozen all winter like this. Not complaining though

Finally! Back in a Subaru.
After being out of a Subaru for almost a year now, I have fallen back into the game. I recently found a pretty clean `84 DL 4x4 wagon, and jumped on it. I paid $1150 for it. I don't think it was a bad price considering how hard these things are to find here in MI. I know shipping one in similar shape would have been about that much anyways. Plans for now are to get it back into fighting shape with a few needed maintenance items. Then after doing some repairs on my `87 Toyota van, I will have the time to give it a proper repaint and restoration. Here's some pics. I can't say enough how happy I am to have finally gotten my hands on an ea81. gotta love Michigan's winter. These pics were a day apart. Also, anyone have Ideas on why my gas gauge seems to be all over the place? At full it reads 3/4 and doesnt really make up its mind from there. I am also in need of a left tail lamp if anyone has one they would part with.

this 91 sucks compared to my 86, but might be the next bad ride... finally replaced the water pump and the leaking hose connected right above it. I also deleted the non working a/c and painted the timing covers lime green!

Contemplating a move...
I'm going to say to make your move after doing some research. I think BH is a great place. The economy is tough here in MI, but BH has one thing going for it, It's only got one place to go, and that's up. It's close to the most beautiful fresh water lake in the world, and it's also home to an awesome brewery called "The Livery". I can't say enough about our beer. We have something like 88 breweries open right now, and that is really taking off. As far as jobs go, it depends on what sort of field you're in. We are loosing our manufacturing job base, but I think we're on the down swing from that. A lot of talk is happening about revamping agriculture, and a lot is also going on in the entertainment sector. It can be hit and miss though. I'm fortunate to have had my job as a parts manager in a local body shop here in Muskegon. I've been here for 4 years and we've been growing ever since. I have been looking for another job for about 3 years now though, and have not had much luck. Grand Rapids is a pretty cool place to be, there is a ton of stuff to do there. The UP has some of the most beautiful landscape on this side of the country. Lastly, I really can't say enough about the great lakes. Lake MI is incredible! If anything, we've got pride. I can say, I've been through some very desolate places in Detroit, and it is not pretty, but there are pockets of prosperity. I think the country will see a turn around in Michigan soon. It's like the starving artist thing, you do your best work when you're in the face of defeat. And, it's true, there are no Subarus older than `95 left here, and even the 2000 and down models are getting rusty. I'm looking for another ea82 wagon body if you are heading this way...

it is, it took forever to find a stock working radio! Now lets see how long this lasts in my neighborhood. The good thing about this junky Loyale is nobody will think to look in it for something to steal.... I hope :-\

Yet another freaking newbie
He is right! I once brought home an `85 Toyota van, and my `86 gl was so unhappy, it convinced the van into killing it self (Blown Head gasket). Welcome to the obsession, uhh.... hobby

looks like you got a keeper there Tom. I am jealous, because the rear sub-frame on mine finally broke due to rust, now I gotta find a new subie.

Could this be the End of my 2.7 Project? :(
best of luck friend! I'm sure if you managed to fit a 2.7 in her, a little bit of body work shouldn't be a problem.
