Developed a loud knocking noise in my 86 wagon while on the way to see GWAR on Friday night. Now looking for a new motor.

What Have You Done to your Soobie lately? (Please post in here and keep it going)
made the trip from Muskegon to Hillsdale to pick up parts for my rusty `86 wagon. A big thanks to TomRhere for the help and the hookup on 4 decent doors, a non-broken rear bumper, and a working stock radio! Also, messed with a cellphone camera while fueling up! I like this picture, it looks like its from back when this car was still new.

Project GL-10 Turbo Wagon *WARNING PICTURES*
its great to see some progress on this wagon! I hope all goes well with the new engine. Its so cool to see it being put to good use. I actually just found the car I had been looking for to put that motor into, but didn't have the cash and had to pass it up. This wagon is so sweet man! Also, I can check but I think I have a tail lamp for that ride. If you're getting rid of the stock stereo I would offer you a trade for a good tail light.

Why do you love your subaru?
What do you love about your subaru and why? post two pics and a description. I can't explain what it is about my rusty crapbox wagon, but I love it. I hop in and drive and it makes me feel better. I parked my 98 ob because the 86 is just more..... fun i guess. I'm the second owner, and it had good maintenance all its life, But is slowly dieing of rust, but I still love it like it was a 2010 model.

Lets See some Clean Brat's!!!!!
I hope this isn't off topic, but I'm curious about Brats. How does one of these little rascals drive compared to an ea82 wagon? Also, I'm about 6'1'' and wonder how comfortable it would be for me to drive one. I have been looking around and comparing prices on brats for about 2 years now and plan on buying one by next spring. I will have to do some traveling to get one seeing as there are none left here in MI, and would like to get some ideas before I decide for sure and get into something I wont like. Also, these are some fine looking vehicles all around!

BG on 31s....
i tried the same lift idea on the lower strut mounts on my outback wagon last night, i can do it, and even get the camber correct, but i would either need wheel spacers, or i would have to use some sort of fwd gm wheel, We tried one and it fit. With the Subie wheel, the tire rubbed the strut pretty bad.

Godzirra! 90 legacy project!
i know its a little off topic, but are those svx windows as much of a pain in the rump roast as they look like they would be? why didn't they just make them work like a normal window, and not be a halfie like that? but the h6 with a dual range is a good idea in my book.

BG on 31s....
wow, I can't believe i didn't know about these guys! I would be willing to bet that it is the "Subie guys" from TC. Just look at this!

Godzirra! 90 legacy project!
I'm looking forward to seeing this project. On a side note, if you don't mind telling me, what offset did you use to correct your camber on your lift blocks?

99 Ob go fast?
I have not done a huge amount of searching over usmb, but ive given Google its shot. Im wondering about go fast parts for my 99 OB 2.5 5mt. I run this vehicle on the street, and plan to do a fair amount of sand dune running this summer and into the future. I am looking for bolt on performance stuff, and cheap is always good. I am, however, not afraid to spend money for quality parts. Any help with locating vendors would be awesome. thanks, MM

EJ Lift Kits For West Coast Subaru Show!
I'm interested in one of these kits, what is turn around time on getting one shipped to postal code 49444? Also will this work well with the stock lift on the outback wagons? My car is a `98 limited 5mt. Would the shifter linkage need to be modified, and what size tire could i fit on this thing? I'm not looking to go to big on tire size, but I'm curious as to what my tire options would be.

Introducing: No Hope Off Road
there is a small possibility for a group run at Silver Lake next weekend. October 31st is the last day the Orv area is open until next year. I will know more tomorrow...

Introducing: No Hope Off Road
We had a get together last night for a trail run, and decided on a name for our crew, No Hope Off Road. only 3 subies showed, but it was fun. Unfortunatly, EA cars are gone in West MI, So the Ej's had to step up to the plate. Jerome's 93 Imp on OB struts does work.... And my 98 Limited did alright, But im afraid to hurt it... check here for more... http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=8196&id=100000044165272&l=ff24bd191d all in all, a good day, we ran some trails, then all piled in the Imp for some end of the day Silver Lake ORV park action.

Subaru? What's that?
This is the reaction I normally get from local salvage yards reguarding parts for my `87 Gl 3 door. These cars are extinct in MI. I've been driving the wheels off my 98 ob 5speed, and I'm in the process of Lifting a 98 OB sport, but my real love is for my `87. It's Probably Past its prime, but I still imagine myself climbing behind the wheel and dominating the trails like I know it could. The problem is, my rear sub frame lost its battle to rust July 4 2008, when it saw one to many jumps at Silver Lake ORV park. I could go on and on, but I digress. Is there anyone else in MI who hasn't given up on the Old EA cars? And if so, would anyone happen to have a solid shell they would sell, or even a rear subfreezing/suspension assy? The Ob is great, but I cant rev it to 8,000 rpm and dump the clutch and break the tires loose like that little `87....

Want in from the cold!
I've heard good reviews about this place... http://www.markssubaru.com/index.html South of MI is usually your best bet, it seems like all the inexpensive ones around here are rusted and gone. Most first gen Legacys are done... Loyales are extinct.

Sand dunning questions
i only use low range for major hill climbing, otherwise, it never even needed to leave 2wd

Sand dunning questions
my `87 gl 3 door would do anything i needed it to here in Michigan at the Silver Lake ORV Park. The only problem I had was on "Test Hill" which is the biggest hill out there, and just as many full size pickups couldn't make that hill. I was running the same size tire than you and had no problems. It's just all about tire pressure. I Run 5lbs front and 4lbs in the rear, as long as you don't turn super sharp or drive like an idiot, you won't blow them off the bead. my friend's impreza does even better than my GL. this is a massive sand dune, and on this day, the top was almost vertical for the last 25 feet or so... I've even taken a `91 Lincoln town car to the same dune area, and it actually did better than the GL, its all about tire pressure... also note my friends lifted impreza sedan in the back ground shots...
