  1. As far as I know, the 4sp d/r's and the 5sp d/r's have the same, 3.9:1. I believe it was only the turbo tranny's that had 3.7:1 Twitch
  2. OK, thanks. With my rebuild, I may be adding power steering to the 85' Brat. So good chance I'll be buying one Twitch
  3. Well, with the recent issues with the brat, it's now parked. Now begins the rebuild. MWAHAHAHAAAAA... I'm going to do a 5 lug swap with full Impreza suspension and all new brackets. The original suspension components are S-H-O-T. I'm also going to be doing the same thing that backwoodsboy did. 125HP EA81 BABY!!! Hooked straight up to a 5ps d/r Sorry, just excited about the rebuild. I guess this can be, or will be the official build thread... Twitch And, as always, suggestions are always appreciated.
  4. OOOooo... You must to go into further detail on the rust killer... I'll be needing some considering the rust on the brat is going DOWN!!!! And maybe the coupe will play nicely now. Btw, whats up the autotragic on the sig? Did your 4EAT die? Twitch
  5. Me too. I just hope I have more luck my EA81 than you did I think the wiring is fine, it appears it was just the vacuum lines that got melted. Thanks for the offer, I may take you up on some parts if you still have them in the future. Twitch
  6. No, it didn't burn to the ground, and no it wasn't anything huge. It just was my bad EGR valve getting some vacuum lines hot enough for the plastic connectors to catch fire and melt. It also burnt up some connector that had a filter in it, don't know what it orginally looked like, but its melted now. I'll post pics asap. It runs, but is a pain to start, and sometimes doesn't :-\ After I get the pics up can somebody help me figure out wht it melted? Thanks in advance for any help recived. Oh and I'm parking it and doing a drivetrain swap on my lego. Twitch
  7. I agree with Ed, even though I was the first one to call him out on his product. He does respond to other posts normally, I have checked this using the search function. He has really only pushed conklin in 2 or 3 other threads, the rest are actually somewhat helpful. So rtcaravan, no offense to you, but I will probably never buy conklin or use it in any of my vehicles. But I don't consider you a bad person either. I just recommend you get facts and consider the reputation of a product, BEFORE you start flaming. Twitch
  8. Bad alt? An intermittent short in the wiring? An unexplained draw on the system? Connie... I think we might have found a duplicate to your problem... If a new alt doesn't fix the problem.
  9. Bravo! Bravo! Well said 84flatfour. I don't believe I could have stated it any better than that. And I find it interesting that he used the shoot first, ask questions later tactic. I believe it was his first reply, that specifically said "seafoam don't work. don't waste your money" or something to that effect. And when we started asking him honest questions about the product, he just backpedaled and deflected our queries. Just an observation... Twitch
  10. Does your center console have the two step dash or a flat dash face? If it's a two step you'll need to cut out the dash to make room for the new deck and you'll need the mounting bracket for the new stereo. You will then need to run screws through the dash into the bracket, and maybe some reinforcement in the dash. If you have the flat face then Idk. The PO destroyed my dash... Hope it helps... Twitch
  11. I've been seeing Subaru's all over the place as of late. Being a pizza delivery guy, I get around So, here are all the subes I've seen as of late. A beautiful red SVX in hauser with some aftermarket stickerage on it, looked like McBrat or Pooparu's work... Somebody's got a tan 86 or so hatch in post falls that is coated in stickers. I saw an SVX in spokane I believe it was black and white. There's a beautiful Blue and Black 81 brat in athol with the jumper seats. Ummm... I'll update you guys as I see more Twitch Oh and if anybody's the owner of any of the cars I mentioned, please reply!

Can I Have? Is it 4WD or 2WD? That thing is absolutely beautiful. And I bet it pulls like no other with that 454.
  13. Something I find amusing, is that you (rtcaravan) are pushing this product so hard, and yet everyone else is coming up with the links and the websites. All you have done is told us to search youtube, no links, just keywords to search. This either means that you have a computer incapable of copy and pasting or you can't really back any of this up. Twitch PS: 84flatfour has a really good point. How is it that zinc content shows wear when there is zinc in the lubricant?
  14. Wow. You apparently have very little knowledge on how cars work. Dumping a hydrocarbon based liquid into the air intake or fuel intake, will not hydrolock an engine. The liquid will burn just like gasoline or diesel. And we don't do it for the "smoke effect." We do it because it cleans the system out. I'm not disagreeing with you on the fact subaru has good engine. But your claim that there are no facts and figures on your site about the results on subaru's because there is too much to list, is complete BS. They would at least list some of them on their site. Twitch PS: And the adding of zinc to oil, won't wear out the engine noticeably faster. Zinc is often used as a galvanizing agent, to prevent oxidization.
  15. OK sir. You apparently have no idea how oil degrades over time. I have no doubts or qualms about the cleaning power of conklin. I'm just wondering how conklin changes the oil so that it is impervious to the wear and tear of going through the engine, and still is capable of lubricating the engine properly. Also, your claim about seafoam not working. It does have cleaning capabilities. It chemically reacts with carbon and other build-ups and then with the motion of the fluids it washes away the buildup, at least that's my understanding of seafoam. Oh and your claim seafoam has been around for only 2 years, you're off by about 65 years. Seafoam has been around since 1942. And has guarantee that you will be satisfied with your purchase, or your money back. Twitch
  16. 1st Gen 1969-79 All of the 360 models, micro car, bus and the like. EA71/EA63 sedans, hatches, wagons, and brat (until 81) 2nd Gen 1980-84 EA81 DL and Gl sedan, wagon, hatch*, and brat* *(until 87) 3rd Gen 1985-93 EA82 DL, GL and GL-10 sedan, wagon, hatch (justy), coupe, XT and XT6. 4th Gen 1990-2009 EJ, EZ, EG Legacy, Outback, Impreza, Forester, SVX, B9 Tribeca. 5th Gen 2008- NA. (Framed windows and new engines) EJ and EZ Legacy, Outback, Impreza, Forester, Tribeca Is that better? I just thought it would be better to separate the 360's from the standards in the original post. Twitch
  17. Ok. You make a good point. Have you checked the wiring between the alt and the fuel pump? Have you checked the fuel pump itself? I don't mean to frustrate you, I'm just trying to help. Twitch
  18. 1st Gen 1969-79? All of the 360 models, micro car, bus and the like. 2nd Gen ?-79 EA71/EA63 sedans, hatches, wagons, and brat (until 81) 3rd Gen 1980-84 EA81 DL and Gl sedan, wagon, hatch*, and brat* *(until 87) 4th Gen 1985-93 EA82 DL, GL and GL-10 sedan, wagon, hatch (justy), coupe, XT and XT6. 5th Gen 1990-2009 EJ, EZ, EG Legacy, Outback, Impreza, Forester, SVX, B9 Tribeca. 6th Gen 2008- NA. (Framed windows and new engines) EJ and EZ Legacy, Outback, Impreza, Forester, Tribeca I'm not too sure on all of these and the 6th gen is only my opinion. Twitch
  19. Now are you testing them whan the car is cold, or when the car is running but with the idiot lights on? As was mentioned before, the switch may be fine cold, but when it starts to heat up, you might be having one separate. Twitch
  20. Are you some sort of salesman for this stuff? Because I've never heard of it. I actually have used seafoam with great results. It got rid of valve tap in my EA81 powered 1985 Subaru brat. What all has this "Franklin conklin" stuff fixed or helped in your cars??? Twitch
  21. Thanks Durania Mods, feel free to delete this post and the one above Durania's... Twitch
  22. You might have a short in the wiring to your fuel pump. AFAIK, the fuel pump is run directly off the alternator, with only a fuse in between. I'm guessing you've checked all you fuses, so I would check the resistance between the small alternator wire(?) and the fuel pump power supply, when the engine cuts out. Also I would check the voltage at the pump when the car is running. It may be that you have some wire that expands when it gets hot enough and eventually shorts when it expands enough to touch a ground. Does anybody know if these old subes had aluminum wiring? Cuz that stuff was infamous for heat expansion. Twitch
  23. I just replaced my blinker fluid with this aftermarket stuff that makes it blink brighter and quieter than ever! I can't mention the name because they are being threatened with lawsuits from all of the vehicle manufacutures. And I just had to put some new muffler bearings on to quiet my exhaust down. Twitch
  24. I put 4x6's into my Brat's door panels... I haven't had to deal with EA82's yet...
