Headlight conversion complete!
Yeah the parts are hard to find. I have only seen one other in Maine with this style. When I saw Monstaru post these for sale when the playground was up, I jumped on it! I've always wanted the single headlight setup. I probably would have taken the single square as well but I do like the round! It's like a lot of the late 70's vehicles.

'86 GL-10 Left for Dead - Help Identify Donor Transmission (pg4)
This might be, but I'm sorry Ford made some really good tractors, my uncle has a large farm and had a john deer and a ford(don't ask me what year or size) and they were both excellent tractors, the ford looked like a pile of rust and never stopped working, my cousin worked in the woods and bought a late 80's Ford and never had an issue with it and my dad bought a New Holland and has never had an issue with it, now with that said I'm not a fan of ford but you can't argue with the many years they produced a long lasting very capable work machine and the many years that they lasted. I personally would buy a Kubota, but obviously they haven't been around for ever!:-\

EA81 power
Yeah the motor I have in it now is an EA81 out of an 83 or 84 hatch and the spare that I have is out of an 86 Brat so I guess by what your saying I probably have the bigger valves already. I also have SPFI so I can't really do any upgrades to that:-\ Phizinza, what do you mean wagon setting vs sedan setting? I have Loyale strut tops in my Brat so I used the existing hole in the front and then drilled to in the rear

1985 Subaru GL Photo Shoot
Nice lookin hatch, gonna have to get some pics when it isn't completely overtaken by snow:grin: Yeah you should do a 5 spd swap, you'd love it! And then maybe a little lift and a little bigger tires! As long as you don't go too big you'll be fine.

Headlight conversion complete!
Well I had to learn how to do it and Monstaru had to help a little as well. I had to cut out the sheet metal between the stock quad setup. Then kind of trace the round lamp onto the existing metal and trim where needed. Then kind of figure out where everything lined up. New holes had to be drilled for the lights. They are a couple bits and pieces you have to grab off of the donor car...like the metal brackets that hold the headlight bezels and the grill in place. But it is pretty straight forward as long as you have all the pieces and parts, which Brian was kind enough to include!! And to all, feel free to copy the bumper design and I do have a couple pics of it being made if anyone wants them. Thanks for all the compliments!!

The factory lights are sealed beams but these are aftermarket that fit right in and you can change out the actual bulb...and thanks for the compliments!

Pics? And where are you mounting it?

Headlight conversion complete!
Yeah especially here on the east coast! I have only seen one other.

i ripped a front wheel of my subaru!
Yes make sure the axle goes on the right way. It's very easy to get it 180* off. When you put it on take your punch and make sure that slides through with ease, if it doesn't take it off and rotate it 180* and try again! Good luck!

oil pan gasket ea81
I used a fel-pro gasket. Never tried RTV. I suppose it would work as long as you made sure not to smudge it all while putting the pan back on

New Subaru
bratman18 replied to RckyMtn's topic in 1990 to Present Legacy, Impreza, Outback, Forester, Baja, WRX&WrxSTI, SVXSounds like you got a decent price, the original ones were going for around that price so the fact you got a brand new one with the extras is pretty good. I want one! Probably after my RS is paid off, I'll try to get one! I'm gonna get a wagon so I can convince the wife that it's a family car!

Headlight conversion complete!

Headlight conversion complete!
It's a custom made bumper. A friend of mine did most of the work. I love it, It's quite unique especially for a Subaru! and it certainly takes a beating and protects the front end!!
